I did enjoy the specials on the whole (especially Wild Blue Yonder), and seeing the Toymaker again was pretty neat (among all the other references) - but man that ending is something, I get they don't want to let the man go but for a show predicated on change and moving on they seem awfully afraid to do so.

RE: Doctor Who
Yeah the Master, the cameos and other stuff in Power was fantastic, the metaplot not so much but it meant at least Jodie got to go out with a bang. The ending however smacks to me a little too cynical and desperate to get the viewers back, almost reactionary even, but at least it's not for too long, and it'll be fun in the specials I'm sure.

RE: Splatoon
Welp, EU Splatfest is drawing to a close, can't say this one was that great, lost quite a few of my matches this time, getting to DANCING QUEEN was something of a chore I admit…
Especially when the lobbies started getting filled with intentional saboteurs on both sides, something that's apparently been reported elsewhere, but I did see it with my own eyes - it kinda sucks, especially when it didn't happen in the last few fests. Excuse the Reddit link, but it really is something else.https://www.reddit.com/r/splatoon/comments/3iy3ld/in_eu_splatfest_right_now_there_are_people_afking/

RE: General Fire Emblem Thread - At Least Mario Got a Funeral
I'm so spoiled by the colorful GBA sprite work
I realize it's nitpicking but I wish FE11 didn't look so drab. I remember being psyched years ago when I heard Marth's adventure had come to stateside, but I wasn't wowed by it?
Then again, my Fire Emblem interest kinda faded after FE7 up until my brother came home with Awakening. I suppose it was a combination of other games taking my time (it was the Gamecube and PS2 era, tons of good stuff)….and well, I guess I was so attached to the FE7 characters I didn't feel like playing another game with new characters.
But hey, Awakening and Smash Bros. revived my love for the series.
Yeah, I felt the same way after having started with the GBA games, but it grew on me after a while.
My main complaint about Shadow Dragon is the hit/dodge mechanics, or lack thereof, hah. -
RE: General Fire Emblem Thread - At Least Mario Got a Funeral
@Cyan:
I'm so sorry .
I admit, I redownloaded it myself - It's one of my guilty pleasures, I enjoy replaying it quite a bit, perhaps due in part to its simplicity as a remake of FE1.
Mind you, if New Mystery had been officially localised, then we'd have a different story on our hands… -
RE: The Nintendo Thread
Now Gaiden I haven't played in a long time, but it is very good considering, how clunky FE1 was in comparison, and I've played all the games from my knowledge, even Thracia 776, which was… an experience. Still, not wholly unenjoyable, it just really, REALLY needs a better patch, the folks at Serenes Forest haven't reallybeen on that from what I hear.
And yeah FE14's new features are definitely rubbing me the wrong way, I must say, but I wasn't Awakening's biggest fan, hopefully this is an overall improvement.

RE: Doctor Who
Well, I just got done watching Adventure in Space and Time, and good grief, the feels were too much towards the end. Fantastic docudrama.
-
RE: Doctor Who
Yeah, that's just an amazing serial all-round, I should watch that again when I have time. And Pokémon is about to deplete a whole lot of that time. Dissertation notwithstanding.
-
RE: Doctor Who
Yeah, the Kandyman bears a resemblance to Bertie Bassett, a mascot for a bunch of sweets I was never quite fond of, Liqourice Allsorts I believe.
-
RE: Doctor Who
@No:
I wouldn't say authoritarian but when he does get a bit high and mighty the script immediately has him get back to earth, hard. Remember the end of Inferno ?
Hah, quite, watching that serial's always a pleasure. But yeah, perhaps it wasn't quite the word I was looking for. Still, overall I rate Pertwee's Doctor quite highly. On top of that, he's seen with my favourite Master, Delgado, and their dynamic is just great to watch.
-
RE: Doctor Who
Also, I'm confusing my stories, I watched Dragonfire immediately before, gah. Hence the reference to Glitz.
But yeah, the Kandyman, for its appearance, is quite the fun villain, along with Gilbert. As for Pertwee, for all the flak he gets for being overly authoritarian, his quirks more than make up for it, karate chopping random UNIT mooks included, ha.

RE: Doctor Who
Welp, I just got done watching The Happiness Patrol for the first time since I was a child, and had a surprising amount of fun watching it, that said, McCoy's still my favourite Doctor, followed closely by Troughton, and Sabalom Glitz is still a strangely likeable character, ship over tons of dead people mourning aside, ha.

RE: The Nintendo Thread
Couldn't agree more, a new Advance Wars is waaaay overdue. As for FE14, should they make it, I do hope it's more subdued than FE13 was, it was fun, but kinda too easily broken.

Well, we're getting the demo in 6 days, get late hype, I suppose, hah.
-
RE: The Nintendo Thread
At the very least, it's be nice to see if we got the final FE: Awakening release date, and perhaps that of the demo, too. Two of my friends have already beaten the game, and having played every game prior, I am almost physically incapable of waiting.
-
RE: The Nintendo Thread
Yeah, I'd love some new characters, right about now. From the looks of the trailer, there will be ways in which more than one character can fight at one time. Hope doing so can spread EXP between both fighters.
Mm, it seems that way. I'm thinking it will use up both units' turns as well, otherwise it could be rather exploitable. But then again, other mechanics are likely to change within the game as well, so I suppose we'll just have to wait and see.
-
RE: The Nintendo Thread
Yes, New Mystery's lack of release overseas was a bit of a disappointment, given its vast improvements over Shadow Dragon (which was by no means a bad game)… But yes, a completely new continent and cast of characters for the first time in years? I've high hopes for this one.
-
RE: *Noob Alert*
Aha ha. Glad I managed to get you here, but I doubt anyone knows or remembers me here. But still, this is a top forum, so… Enjoy. :3

RE: The Nintendo Thread
Gyaaaagh, the wait is killing me. Going to Bradford's GAME on Saturday, where they're demoing the actual games with some Nintendo Reps. Going to the midnight launch, naturally.

RE: Pokemon's Fifth Generation
Just started. Picked Oshawott, turned out to be a female, so I named it Mist. Indeed. Also, I freaking love how the professor gives you the spiel on capturing right away this time. Yesz.
-
RE: Pokemon's Fifth Generation
Mm. Well, I haven't researched it at all, as I said, so… Hm. This'll be fun~
-
RE: Pokemon's Fifth Generation
Whaaat, Unova Dex has no Zubats?! Fiddlesticks and poppycock.
-
RE: Pokemon's Fifth Generation
Allllright. Tomorrow, I'm leaving sixth form at lunch for an eye test. Means I get Black earlier than expected. I'm playing this almost entirely blind, I know like ten of the new Pokémon - which is awesome. First time since Red/Blue. I researched the hell outta 4th Gen, though. Oshawott will be my starter, most likely. Naturally, my favourite Crobat will be a part of my team. I must be the only person glad Zubats are everywhere.

RE: The Nintendo Thread
Put in my £20 at GAME, so now the waiting game begins…

RE: R.I.P. forum member Sarx
How horrible… Seems niether of us is having a good time, my dad died just last Thursday. Rest in Peace, Sarx.

RE: Kinect IS spying on you
Ha, it's hard to believe the amount of MS fanboys in Bradford, and England as a whole, who almost literally worship this thing, they say it's miles better than that 'kiddy Wii'…
...I weep for these people. Or I would, if I wasn't hating them. I swear I must be the only serious Nintendo fan within 10 miles of my home.
-
RE: Retro games (Old systems , arcades , computers etc.)
I <3 SNES.
Best games ever.
This person has the right idea. First game, Super Metroid, 3 years old… Heaven.
-
RE: The Nintendo Thread
Holy shit. That VC for 3DS is going to ruin me, financially speaking. All the good games I missed out on as a kid, Immature sense of gaming and all, I can get… though, knowing Nintendo, they'll only release one or two crappy games a fortnight, and one good one a month, or something. But you take what you can get.
-
RE: The Arlong Park Official General Discussion Thread
We're talking phobias, huh? Well, for me, it's the feeling of being stared at, particularly by inanimate objects (such as statues, for example), rather unsettles me. Strange, but true.

RE: One Piece in the UK: The Facts
That reminds me, what did you think of the FB people? Summed up our campaign well?
I would say so. Now we just need to raise awareness by adding more members.

RE: North Korea threatens US and South Korea with nuclear deterrence
Kim Jong Il is a war mongering bastard but he has balls.
That begs a Team America quote. Regardless, nothing violent will happen in the end. Probably.
-
RE: Games that you had and failed to beat as a kid (or even now)
Super Metroid. Granted I was 3 years old at the time.

RE: Moria's fate
I'm in the 'alive' camp, I just can't see Moria being killed in the present without we, the readers, seeing it. Plus Moria is too epic to die. That is all.

Jam With The Band (Daigasso! Band Brothers DX)
This recently ended up on the cheap in Europe due to poor sales (obscurity if anything, the game is awesome), so I picked it up from Amazon and it's as good as they say. I was amazed that a rock version of New World Symphony is in the game!
Anyone else have this?

RE: Doctor Who
Hey guys! We all looking forward to tonight then? Just wondering, what are everyone's opinions on the upcoming 'Blood of the Cybermen'? It seems the Cybusmen might be NOT returning! And Cybermats!
-
RE: Doctor Who
Maybe it's the Doctor. Or Valeyard, or something. THAT would be a twist.
-
RE: Super Mario Galaxy 2
I'll let you know when it arrives if you want. Doesn't really matter much to me as I''l play it on my lite if that's the case.
Cheers.
Played SMG2 at a mate's yesterday, 'tis awesome, of course.
-
RE: Super Mario Galaxy 2
Couldn't find the game at all in Bradford, the clerks don't give a damn. But Darkstorm, will the American version work on the DSi? I hear region locking has come into play for the newest DS games - Also, I hear Germany has the game, somehow.
-
RE: Super Mario Galaxy 2
God I hate GAME/Gamestation. This and MMZC come out today, and looking at their websites they've completely disregarded the latter game. This had better not turn out to be another Kirby Super Star Ultra…

RE: Capcom's Zero series coming to the US for the NDS
Bump, as this is now released in the US. Gotta wait till Friday here though, blast. Still, I only own 2 and 3, so completing the collection always helps.

RE: Remake of 'Mystery of the Emblem'
http://www.serenesforest.net/fe3ds/
More info. Casual Mode… yeah... But the 'My Unit' aspect I am really looking forward to.
-
RE: Remake of 'Mystery of the Emblem'
This is true, the remake was TOO close to the original, with little to no character development.
-
Remake of 'Mystery of the Emblem'
http://www.officialnintendomagazine.co.uk/article.php?id=17394
Hell yes. I predicted the next FE would be a Book II remake, and I was right! Who else is looking forward to this, we might get a Q4 release!

RE: Doctor Who
I like to think it was the angels struggling to control their defense mechanism and thus turning from and to stone extremely rapidly.
Exactly what I was thinking (see my last post). Glad I wasn't the only one.
-
RE: Doctor Who
Episode was great, though seeing the Angels 'move' was wierd - Do they really look like that when not stone… Or was their quantum-locking ability fluctuating rapidly, which accounts for their sluggish movement?
-
RE: I'll see you again when the summer starts
If you don't like GCSE Geography, then you'd be better off taking German - Speaking of which, I took German for GCSE and swapped it for Geography, which has since become my main subject! Media Studies is fun, and teaches you more than you might think.

RE: 5 Simple steps to make watching television worthile again.
@Zender:
Bucky O'hare agrees with this.
As do I.
As a kid, you never quite got Johnny Bravo, but it was awesome nonetheless, and even more so when you got older and could understand half of the more subtle jokes.
the Ed boys were awesome too.
