    • RE: Chapter 1,026: The Pivotal Clash

      @Deicide:

      You complaining about criticism in a discussion forum. This is exactly the right place to publicize criticism.

      I'm not complaining about criticism. It's a general atmosphere. Some posters said they thought about leaving due to this forum ruining their experience. Then some people responded that criticism is important. My post was an observation that, to me, it feels like more posts are about criticisms than praise.

      Yes criticism is valid and should be a part of discussion. But balance is nice. Something momentous happend for Luffy this chapter and yet the majority of discussion is about Jack.

      You can say you don't care because Luffy has already clashed evenly with Kaido so the sky splitting is boring. Well this is only the 3rd time it's happened in the series. To put it in perspective, this chapter has Jack's fifth lose.

      My point is that it's understandable if some people don't want to view negative or critical posts all the time. And they are free to leave this forum if they don't want to read it. But instead of telling people to leave it might be nice to try and have a bit of a balance. Maybe remind people that you also enjoy the series and not only use this space to criticize.

      We're on a journey to Laughtale and the story of Joy Boy. It doesn't hurt to try to be happy sometimes.

      @Deicide:

      For a reader that was interested in seeing Jack defeated after 200+ chapters or wanted to see Perospero’s side-plot lead to something meaningful after 40+ chapters, this chapter is a disappointment.

      It’s perfectly fine criticism. If you don’t like it, avoid forums, they are meant to comment various aspects of the story and not just praise it.

      Hey, you don't like it, then you don't like it. I just find it bizarre that the fate of some side villains can trump the accomplishments of the main character. I understand criticism is important. But you can't blame other users who are disappointed that they can't be involved in some communal joy every once in awhile

      It's not even about criticism, but passion. Some of you seem more passionate about defending your criticisms than you are about your love of this series.

      Luffy just split the sky. This is an amazing accomplishment and it's being met with indifference. That feat was only performed by Emperors prior to this chapter and now Luffy has done it.

      This is the first definitive feat of Shanks that Luffy has matched. The promise made in chapter 1 is now that much closer to fulfillment.

      Instead of joy over this it's the opposite. This thread is an echo chamber of dissatisfaction. Misery loves company they say. So, it's understandable if some users don't want their enjoyment soured like the rest of yours.

      Kiku says she is a woman. Plain and simple and no one seems to argue that. Yamato says they are a man, but prefaces it with Oden being a man. If we have to honor them as being a man due to their words then we also have to call them Oden and Momonusuke's father. Yamato has also said that. If we honor part of their truth then we have to honor all of it, no? I just don't see anyone calling Yamato Oden or Momonusuke's father. Oda has shown several gag secens of people reacting to these claims from Yamato. There just seems to be much more at play with Yamato's identity than gender.

    • RE: Chapter 1,019: Heliceratops

      When the warlords were introduced they were the strongest pirates we knew of. The Strawhats defeated Baroque Works with realitve ease, so you could assume they were "Warlord Level". Like, I know they struggled a bit, but they all had enough strength to find the bomb and defeat fodder after their matches.

      CP9 was the secret World Government agency hyped up by Vice Admirals. Those fights are probably the most gag and joke stuffed fights in the series and all Strawhats bar Luffy had enough strength left over to fight off Navy Captains.

      I just find it funny that fans seem to have an issue with the Strawhats doing well against an Emperor's crew despite them having difficulty. Luffy has been knocked out 3 times now. Zoro has broke dozens of bones. Sanji was captured and had to cry for help. Nami and Ussop were almost literally murdered and the General has taken the most damage and the Franken sword was destroyed. I just wonder what some fans want or expected from this raid that they aren't getting. I get wanting more pages per scene, but I feel like the difficulty is there and more prevalent than previous arcs except for Sabaody.

    • RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !

      @Greg:

      As for Zoro miracle drug. NO!!!! It's completely awesome and here's why!!!!

      It allows Zoio to re-enter the field, do something amazing, and then be realistically nerfed for the fallout of the arc. Let's be honest, unless he isn't taken out of the equation, there's not much that can threaten the crew together at this point. It's a very sly move!

      I agree. It is awesome. If Chopper or Marco healed Zoro I feel it could equally be called an asspull. At the end of the day Zoro was going to be healed and come back. I'm just happy to see him back in action soon.

      Greg didn't argue that either. He said that the worst responses he saw about this fight were misogynistic in nature, not that all of them were. I don't think anyone has tried to argue that all of them were.

      There are posts on previous pages claiming anyone arguing against this point are outing themselves as misogynists. I just want to show that people can have differing opinions and we shouldn't be so quick to label eachother.

    • RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !

      @andre:

      It's pretty uncreative in an arc where Big Mom was beat by guys using wit, planning, and a bit of force instead of strong punches and by guys who are definitely weaker than her overall. I mean, I don't want to see Nami beating Big Mom, but it's not impossible given that the ocean nullifies almost-all Devil Fruit users and Big Mom is even more vulnerable when without her family. It would be the biggest stretch in the manga, but it's not impossible.

      Sure, its a fictional story and any character can be written to defeat any opponent. It doesn't mean a fan can't think some can't defeat others. We all have theories and ideas.

      And I don't mind if people don't like what happened. My point was that we shouldn't immediately label some fans for having valid points. If a reader honestly thinks that Nami being a woman means she can't beat people then they're definitely a misogynist. I'm not arguing against that.

      @King:

      Usopp couldn't beat Luffy. He still tried and came off impressive enough by using his own talents.

      Oda could've made the same thing here. Have Ulti tank everything Nami threw at her, but at least show Nami putting the work to set up those attacks and traps, so as to give her some agency. I agree that Ulti was too much for Nami and have been one of the most persistent posters about that, but that doesn't mean this fight was satisfying at all.

      And I don't mind if people don't like how these events went down. I don't at all. I will never tell someone they have to like something. I just don't want some fans to be falsely labeled when they have story evidence to back it up. If someone says Nami can't beat X just because she's a woman then yeah that's totally misogynistic and uncalled for.

    • RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !

      @King:

      You're missing the point. The problem with Nami vs. Ulti is that Nami had her victory handed to her in a platter.

      In the end, the only thing Nami had to do to win was feel bad for a cloud. It is sorta mysogynistic because the amount of effort she had to pull for her victory was comparatively very little.

      The point is that some people looked at the story evidence: Luffy needing Gear 4 to fight Ulti, Ulti dodging Nami's lightning and wind, Ulti tanking Nami's lightning, Nami saying her lightning isn't strong enough, Ulti surviving Big Mom and Ulti having haki and decided that Nami can't beat Ulti on her own. Greg then labeled these people as potentially being misogynistic for having that thought, despite the story informing that stance.

      The point is baselessly labeling people for having a different opinion is wrong.
