Holy crap I love this show.

RE: Harry Potter and the Fantastic Beasts 2: Grindelwald Boogaloo
@RobbyBevard:
Really it boils down to "no one in the books was a hufflepuff except Cedric, so the fans have no ideas about them."
Don't forget about Ernie Macmillan!
Wait who?

RE: WWE and other fed: Disccusion
Seriously everytime they build up Lesnar as THE legitimate bad-ass that can destroy Cena, Cena being goofy and Laurinitus interjecting himself in this feud undoes everything Lesnar does
The best part about Lesnar for me is that he is a legitimate bad ass that can murder you in real life, but he is also a complete asshole who will cheat and throw a one legged kid down a flight of stairs. He has every natural advantage in a fight but he still sneaks behind Cena and low blows him because he is a terrible person.
I agree with you on goofy Cena. There is a time and place.

RE: The Simpsons
The joke is that the state they are in is as inconsistent as the show's continuity. Groening grew up near Springfield, Oregon. When he was young whenever he heard something was happening in Springfield he thought it was near his hometown. Later he leaned that Springfield was a really common name for a city in the U.S. and that is from where the name derives. One time they said West Springfield was three times the size of Texas, and it is obviously not in Alaska. In the movie they said it borders Nevada, Maine and Kentucky. We will never know, we are not meant to.

RE: South Park
that was a great episode. It wasn't until the end song that i realised the whole episode was a parody of the KONY fiasco XD
Yea same, I was thinking it was only about that Bully documentary that came out recently.

RE: WWE and other fed: Disccusion
Yea Teddy has exactly three moves he had been using for what seems like a decade: Holla holla player, shimmy dance, and declaring an impromptu tag team match with the wrestlers arguing in the ring. Stories are more interesting and exciting when the man in charge stacks the deck against the good guy.

RE: WWE and other fed: Disccusion
I'm actually loving Big Johnny. Much better than peanut-head, Teddy Long in my opinion.

RE: How to train your dragon
Never was a big fan of this movie. Liked the score and the visuals but the story never really did it for me. Also Jay Baruchel's voice annoys the crap out of me. I understand why others like it though, it's competently made.

RE: Community
The multiple documentary episodes are fine with me since they each referenced different types. The first one clearly mocked TV mockumentaries like the Office and Parks and Rec, the second one was more of a "making of the movie" spoof like Hearts of Darkness and this one was obviously a historical war documentary. Besides that they all had completely different focuses as far as the plot is concerned.
I can see why many didn't like this one, but it was right up my alley and I enjoyed the hell out of it.

RE: The Simpsons
The way they have developed Homer's friendships with Lenny/Carl, Moe and even Flanders has kind of left Barney by the wayside. I thought Barney getting sober was a pretty decent episode, but then it basically killed his character for the rest of the series.
I would not mind a Barney episode sometime in the future.

RE: The Simpsons
@RobbyBevard:
Loose continuity is one thing. But sliding timeline is weird. Homer and Marge now met in the 80's, for instance.
Inevitable perhaps, but weird.
Yea it's definitely strange, I'm not denying that. But I prefer them to embrace the sliding timeline like they do rather than just cover really vague topics. For example, seeing Homer and Marge being a young couple in the nineties, when the first season of the Simpsons started in 1989. It's definitely weird, but it would be just as weird if you showed them as a young couple in the seventies in an episode airing in 2009. I like that they don't let the timeline stop them from making episodes like that in the newer seasons.
There was an episode that depicted Lisa's wedding in the future, which would have happened last year. Like Riddler said, if you think about it too much it gives you a headache.

RE: The Simpsons
I've come to terms with what the Simpsons have become, and manage to enjoy the new episodes for what they are for the most part. Anyone who says the quality hasn't declined is simply lying or in denial, (The classic era had guys like Brad Bird and Conan O'Brien working on episodes- it's hard to top that) but it's not a crime to still like the show.
What annoys me is people who criticize the show based on inconsistent continuity. It's a 22 year old show with characters that don't age. Some things are obviously going to conflict eventually.

RE: The Simpsons
@No:
Also, Cowboy ? As in the story episode which had the fascinating over arching storyline of "Homer doesn't take his family to Hawaii because he has to chase down a Texan on a highway while all members of the family make up horribly lame moral inducing stories about revenge ?" The one with the cinematic gem known as "Bartman" ?
Yeah that was horrible.
I'm pretty sure he's talking about the one with Buck McCoy, the western TV star who becomes a hero for Bart. It's definitely not one of my favorites.
The one you're thinking of is more recent. It's one of the many awful "trilogy episodes" they started doing around the time they stopped with the clip shows.

RE: Captain America
Oh yeah, Hugo Weaving was so awesome. Though I think he actually looked more intimidating with his real face than the skull face.
And the skinny -> badass effect was well done, until I read about it afterwards I had no idea how they pulled that off.
Yea I thought that too. It reminded me of Willem Dafoe in the first Spiderman. Definitely scarier without the mask in both cases.
-
RE: Captain America
Just saw this today and was pleasantly surprised. It was competently made and the cast was just outstanding. Seriously, the great performances by the cast made a decent movie much, much better.

RE: WWE and other fed: Disccusion
Watched WWE programming for the first time in three years when I noticed Christian on TV a few weeks ago. It's nice to see him with the belt. I'm thinking of getting back into wrestling.
Anyone mind summarizing the CM Punk story? I vaguely recognize the name from when I used to follow wrestling and he seems pretty awesome, but I have no clue what's going on with him.

RE: The Nintendo Thread
Haptic technology is kind of tough to truly understand without experiencing it first. I still don't really understand it. I played around with a haptic feedback device in a comp lit class a couple years ago. It was incredibly basic, but still really cool. You could see this floating cube on a computer screen and had this physical pen-like controller connected to the machine. Even though the cube was digital, I could feel it when I touched it with the pen. I could slide the pen along the cube and make it spin in place. You could build up enough momentum to make it spin by itself and when I tried to stop it by poking it in one spot, I could feel the cube resisting my force as it gradually slowed down. Like I said, I didn't really get how it worked and I'm not a tech guy, but it was really really interesting technology. I can't even imagine what Nintendo has in mind for applying it to an actual video game system. I'm pretty excited for this thing now.

Looks like this arc is finally getting started.

RE: Naruto Thread IV
Who the fuck is Hanzou?
I'm glad I wasn't the only one asking this after reading the chapter.
-
RE: Chapter 617: "The Shocking Incident at Coral Hill" Discussion
Cool chapter. Zoro is awesome as always. I'm guessing some sort of distraction will end their fight prematurely. It's too soon for either Hody or Zoro to get beat up, and I don't expect Zoro to just flat out run away even if he is running out of air. So I'm banking on some outside interference/freak accident/sudden circumstance that halts the action after showcasing a few cool moves.
Edit: Guess I'm not alone in that assumption.

RE: Pokemon's Fifth Generation
Saw this big black and white display at target, and impulsively bought it, despite being disconnected from the series for quite a while. Been having a blast so far, and my party consists of all the guys I think look cool.
Servine 31
Krokorok 30
Tirtouga 29
Victini 30 (Didn't really want a legendary in my party, but I wanted a fire type and wasn't a fan of the red beach ball guy. And this one's pretty cool so far.)
Tirtouga 29
Herdier 29 (Mustache dog? Yes!)
Emolga 28 I had the zebra, but I dropped him the second this guy appeared. -
RE: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (movie and book discussion)
Why the fuck they didnt show that scene !?
I'm guessing because they thought it would be too similar to the Battle of Hogwarts scene that will be in the last movie.
-
RE: Dragonball: Evolution (Live-Action Movie)
Yea, I like the idea of a reboot since I was expecting two more movies with the same horrible cast and crew. Since their plan of attracting the common moviegoer failed, maybe they will try to make it more accurate and actually listen to the fanbase this time around.

RE: Chapter 548 "Thank you" Discussion
It's chapters like these that make me glad i don't read spoilers.
I am torn on whether or not I want Bon Clay to live. He's one of my favorite characters, but it might be better if his story ends here. It's not like he has a great chance of doing anything too significant if he returns later in the story. -
RE: One Piece: Digitally Remassacred
I'll help if you'll have me. I'm no pro but I've helped my friend make videos in a similar fashion.

RE: Unofficial Funi DVD discussions
Got my dvds! Lovin' the voices. Mr. 9 rules!
Okay question, Episode 60 is listed on the back of the cases for both Disc one and disc two. Granted it's only on disc one but I still find it weird. Anyone else have this oddity?
I've got that on my cases, and i think I've heard several others have the same problem. It's probably on every set, not that its a huge deal or anything.
-
RE: Unofficial Funi DVD discussions
Just finished S2V1 and was pretty pleased. Apis arc wasn't as bad as I was expecting though that might be due to some Funi magic. I got the same random subtitle problem as mentioned earlier, but it was brief and easily fixed. Whiskey Peak got me itching for Little Garden, can't wait for my next set!

RE: Dragonball: Evolution (Live-Action Movie)
I choose to take this as good news. I looked forward to the last one until it became obvious it would be horrible. They may actually make a good movie this time. If they pull the same crap with the reboot as they did last time I just won't see it again. I'd enjoy seeing a good dragon ball movie on the big screen, but if they try and fail yet again I won't lose any sleep over it.
This is definitely better news than the sequel that was supposed to happen.

RE: Eyeshield 21 Discussion
Awesome chapter. Hiruma's lie, Don getting scared, and Sena's trident tackle (even though it failed) really did it for me.
-
RE: Terminator Salvation
After seeing this movie I was surprised to find it got mostly negative reviews. Good thing I gave up on "professional" reviews long ago. I really enjoyed every bit of it and am looking forward to more.
! I agree that CG Arnold was awesome. I heard something about it beforehand and had very mixed feelings about it, but it turned out just perfect. I also got the old Terminator vibe when it seemed like he just wouldn't die!

RE: First Round Discussion
I don't mind Zorro, but what the hell sign me up.

RE: Chapter 503 "Striping Up The Island" Discussion
I'm pretty sure we know nothing of the sort.
Yea I checked I was wrong. The hat is just special to him for an unknown reason. I suppose that means someone could have given it to him, but it seems less likely now.
-
RE: Chapter 503 "Striping Up The Island" Discussion
I just had a thought. We know Shanks got the straw hat from someone which made it special to him, at least i think thats true. Perhaps it originally belonged to Silvers. In his first appearance in the Buggy flashback we already know he was quite familiar with Shanks and Shanks was already wearing the hat at this point. He said the hat suited the kind of person Luffy was. This could just be because he knew Shanks very well, or because Silvers was the original owner. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Hey whats up
I've been lurking these forums a while and figured I'd finally join for some good healthy One Piece discussion.
My name's Dave and I've been a fan of One Piece since the first issue of Jump (In America). It's my favorite anime/manga by far, though I do like others. I also like to play video games, and watch football. I hope to have some cool discussions at Arlong Park!
