I don't want to see the Emperor's clash until Laugh Tale. Even though Laugh Tale is a lost city, it still needs an antagonist for the Straw Hats to face, and given all the Emperors are currently actively collecting poneglyphs it doesn't make sense from a story perspective for any of them to fall to each other now, not even Shanks vs. Blackbeard imo.

RE: Jump Festa 2024
My issue with Fullalead being next is that it means Blackbeard will be the next arc villain rather than being the actual final villain (or at least the penultimate villain before Imu) and that really feels like a disservice for him. It brings him down to the status of an 'arc villain' rather than a 'main villain'.
And again, that's not really anything interesting at Fullalead. It feels like we've seen everyting we need to of the Island from the Sword assault.

I don't agree. Even with that page, until they actually leave Egghead and go there, anything can happen, so Oda's not going to outright say Elbaf is next in a message like this. He's going to be a big tease about it still, that's pretty typical of him.
Elbaf is literally the only island they can go to if they were to leave Egghead safe and sound. This is all based on the Log Pose, a tool stated to be the most reliable in the NW. They already have Elbaf locked in due to their time at Wano.
Fishman Island was the same deal. It locked there at Water 7, but the actual location suffered from an extensive detour before going there. I can see the same thing happening there. Oda already set up the expectation months ago, so why be coy about it now?
If Oda think there's a twist coming on for whatever reason, then Elbaf will have to wait.
The issue here is that you see Oda's message as a twist whereas all it says is The Straw Hats are going to an island to obtain something and there will be a fight of some kind to get it. And then also hints and two other people having their long-awaited clash. I don't think Oda would spoil Elbaf as the next arc 100% when it's technically not confirmed yet, just heavily hinted at. So he's calling it THAT Island so as not to spoil anyone.

What? No, that's not what he's saying. THAT island, is 99% in reference to Elbaf. But Oda then says that he has thought of ways to advance the story that doesn't involve them going there, but he's not sure if he could stop Luffy from heading to Elbaf even if he wanted to.
What other island could THAT island be? Laugh Tale? It would be weird for that to be next and for Oda to have come up with a route that doesn't involve it. And Oda wouldn't use THAT island for an island we've never heard of before now. He's definitely talking about Elbaf here, he just doesn't want to outright confirm it as it hasn't been confirmed in the story yet (just hinted at).
Oda wouldn't make Elbaf a mysterious THAT ISLAND since he already included and confirmed in his story that the SH are planning to go to Elbaf after Egghead. It's simple as that.
This is not "hinting", it's outright confirming the route they plan to use has Elbaf in it, locked Log Pose and everything. It sorta reminds me of Fishman Island.Hachinosu is likely THAT ISLAND. It's not somewhere readers were expecting the SH to go to, so it makes sense as a twist, especially since it would imply an earlier than expected meeting with the BB pirates. It also has hanging plot threads like Garp's fate, the Rocky Port Incident and the treasure mentioned in the God Valley flashback.
It's also a long hyped island, having been namedropped since the Davy Back FIght.
I don't agree. Even with that page, until they actually leave Egghead and go there, anything can happen, so Oda's not going to outright say Elbaf is next in a message like this. He's going to be a big tease about it still, that's pretty typical of him.
And what would be the point in going to Fullalead Island? It's not an interesting island to explore, especially as most of it is in ruins now thanks to SWORD. So they would literally just be rocking up to fight Blackbeard and save Garp and Pudding, and then leave, which feels like an arc that might happen in something like JJK or Demon Slayer where fights > adventure, but that's not a One Piece thing.
For all the hanging plot threads around the island, it can all be resolved without going there. We saw that Blackbeard was bringing Pudding around with him so it wouldn't surprise me if they did the same thing with Garp. So the Straw Hats can save them at any island. The treasure of Fullalead can also be shown to us during the God Valley flashback. And the Rocky Port incident isn't an event that we need to see. Much like the murder mystery plot at the start of this arc, we know who started Rocky Port and we know what everyone gained from it. There's no reason to flashback to it.
And again, THAT Island is an island that Luffy can't be stopped by anyone to go to, even Oda. Elbaf 100% fits that because it's an island that he's been looking forward to since Little Garden, and it's so close. I just don't see a reason why they would go to Fullalead at this stage in the story (unless the BB Pirates reason for being at Egghead is to kidnap a crew member for some reason, in which case sure).

It sounds like the next destination is obviously Elbaf. Oda said that he couldn't even stop Luffy going next if he tried.
The thing is that Oda claims to have already thought a route for the SH that doesn't involve "THAT ISLAND". That must be the Elbaf route, as Vegapunk already told them to go there and it's the expected outcome post-Egghead.
If Oda, however, says they might not be following that route, then they're not going to Elbaf (at least not immediately), but THAT ISLAND.
What? No, that's not what he's saying. THAT island, is 99% in reference to Elbaf. But Oda then says that he has thought of ways to advance the story that doesn't involve them going there, but he's not sure if he could stop Luffy from heading to Elbaf even if he wanted to.

Also, I knew Kitadani was going to do the new OP! He's the best fit to do the OP that starts off the final saga.

RE: UNDEAD UNLUCK
Well in Undead Unluck the Sun is hollow, because it's inside the sun that the 10 UMA live, so I think that defo effects the gravity of the sun.

RE: Sakamoto Days
Unfortunate Shin, but I'm sure you'll be fine once Slur's main force arrives.

RE: UNDEAD UNLUCK
It's one of the ten major rules, who are all trapped on the sun thanks to Andy. And I guess her rule is Change, given her comments to Gina. I suppose the DNA hair can reflect that.

RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
I think it's fine. If any character was going to dish out the multi-page Muda I think Bakugo was the right choice and it is super satisfying watching AFO finally get the shit kicked out of him. I'm sure he's not done yet, baby him will probably find some sneaky way to get to Shigaraki so he can still be the final boss, but in terms of how his main fight went I think Horikoshi did a good job.
-
RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
We know from All Might -> Deku that they can be transfered and activated before the previous user dies, so I think the most likely explanation is that the previous user found a point to pass it on before AFO showed up, just in case.

We are only two years before the start of Luffy's journey, we never got a flashback so close to the present than that, except as part of the final stretch's fast-forward montage.
Ace meeting Tama and Yamato was already mentioned, but we also got Carrot's brief flashback when she was trained by pedro. We didn't get an exact year but she didn't look too different from how she does in the present day where she's 15, so it likely happened at somepoint in the last two years which would make it the most recent.
And technically, Luffy's flashback ends at the day that he set off in chapter 1, so Luffy's flashback is the closest a flashback got to the present day by literally ending where the series started.

RE: Official Egghead Thread
Nearly three decades you mean.
And the man loves drawing too much to stop completely, I just wouldn't expect a new series from him. He'll go the Toriyama route for sure and become a character designer, with the occasional one-shot if he feels like it. Also you know that even when the manga ends and the anime ends, they'll still do more One Piece, whether it be movies or spin-offs, and Oda will probably do some drawings for those.

RE: Official Egghead Thread
I think Elbaf kind of has to be next. There are a lot of signs pointing towards it like Saul seemingly being there with all the Ohara books, it being close by according to Vegapunk. It's connection with Shanks (and Kid presumably being there) and we can't have that many arcs left in the story and Elbaf is one of the only arcs we absolutely have to get before the series end (the other being Laugh Tale itself).
Also, if you believe in the parallel stories theory, Egghead is the post-timeskip parallel to Saboady (dealing with Kizaru and Kuma and potentially having Luffy punch another Celestial Dragon, this time a more important one) which means the next arc has to be a parallel to Amazon Lilly, an arc focused on a unique tribe of warrior people unaffiliated with the World Government that end up as allies of the Straw Hats by the end of it. That sounds like Elbaf to me.

RE: Hiatus x Hiatus III: Goodnight, Sweet Princes
Ending D is pretty much the ending you would expect after Gon's story arc concluded and that's where I accept the ending for the series to be. Everything since then has just been bonus content about Kurapika.

RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
I also liked that meta abilities were around before the glowing baby. I don't know if it was the intent, but it comments on the idea that we only notice and talk about things when it happens in a first world country or to someone important, rather than actually acknowledging the real first (either because no one discovered it or no one took it seriously because of where it was from).
It is a bit weird that AFO is super competent as a baby and presumably raised both himself and his twin. I know he's strong but come on.

RE: UNDEAD UNLUCK
The anime pacing was pretty bad this week. I get that they wanted to end at them declaring their dreams for the big turnaround but they should've made that the middle point of the episode and ended on Victor instead.

Looks like we'll eventually cut to the National Takoba Arena's battle. Similar to Aoyama and Hagakure's battle, I think it's a little too late to focus on that. The most powerful Tartarus Escapees haven't been used to their fullest potential.
It does feel a bit too late for sure but hopefully something from it plays a big role in this final battle. Out of all the battles that got set-up, this arena was absolutely the least important one as it got none of the Leage of Villain members sent to it, and all the Class A students there are some of of the least important ones. But Hori has been pretty good at making everything be relevant so hopefully we see what his plan is soon.

RE: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part II: Do the Dio Walk!
I can't imagine Dragona dying soon. Maybe towards the end of the story as the expected Jobro death but it won't be anytime soon.
-
RE: Chainsaw-man
I think some of the issues people might be having with Chainsaw Man 2 is in the pacing. Part 1 was very bombastic and there was a lot more action happening with shorter arcs. Just for comparison, at this many chapters in the part 1 manga, Denji was fighting Reze while riding a Shark into a Tornado. We've had the same amount of arcs so far (five) but there hasn't been nearly as much action happening (which I think is because of the setting. There's more reason for fights when the gang where hunting devils for a living, rather than just going to school).
-
RE: Dandadan
So Class Prez has a guardian spirit now. I assumed she would get some kind of power like everyone else does, so now we just need to see how it works. Will it just hang around and protect her while she sings or will she be able to fuse with it like Aira does?

Yeah basically. He's blowing up the sweat all over his body, one droplet after another, to propel himslef forward at incredible speed.

RE: UNDEAD UNLUCK
Unburn was a member of Under in the last loop. We don't really know much about him though.

RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
Horikoshi shines in character design so I hope he goes the Toriyama route personally and lends his talent to other projects in other industries (with the occasional One Shot if he feels like it)
-
RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
I personally think Jump+ is the way forward. It gives the creators a lot more freedom in how they make their manga and the pace they release it at.
-
RE: Official Egghead Thread
Yeah, I agree with Deicide on this. While the Supernova's weren't planned, I imagine that a lot of them took the roles that Oda had planned for future arcs. Bonney, Kid and Law all have roles that feel neccessary for plot points Oda was setting up before their reveal and Urogue could also fall into this category depending on where his story goes (he's a way for Eneru and the Sky Island lore to reenter the picture).
-
RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
Yeah, the license exam is a decent arc. For me, I think MHA went downhill around the villain arc but I don't agree with the wider opinion that it remained that low. I think it's gotten better since then and the current arc is pretty good. Not as good as some of the classic stuff like Kamino Ward or Sports Festival arcs but better than the Yakuza arc. Probably on par with the summer holiday arc.
I think the biggest issue is really just Horii wanting to end the series soon, as it's gone on way longer than he planned, but also him not having enough time to actually set-up all the narrative plot points he needs. Spinner is the perfect example of this as the discirmination plotline makes sense for his character and what drove him to be a villain but it pretty much came up for the first time in this final arc and then kinda got wrapped up immediately. Stain is another example, it feels like there needed to be something around the fact that most of the league joined Shigaraki because they looked up to Stain, and didn't know that Stain hated Shigaraki. When Stain broke out of prison and chose not to go with OFA, it felt like the perfect opportunity to address this plot point but it didn't happen and Stain ended up just being used as an All Might pick-me up.
It's felt like ever since this final saga started, Horii just cut out any plotpoint not related to Deku and Shigaraki in order to streamline the series and it's disappointing (but I understand that it's burnout).

RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
I think that's my biggest complaint about MHA. This entire story happened in the space of a single year, which is insane. It doesn't really feel like an academia focused story when we won't see even a 3rd of their academia life. I think the series would've benefited from shorter stories and pacing it out to go over all three years instead of all at once.
-
RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
I don't know if I agree with part of that last point. Maybe it's casue I'm comparing it to most other Shonen out there but I think one of the positives of this arc has been the fact that Hori has given all the Class 1A kids a moment to shine and has done it well. Sato, Sero and Ojiro are currently the only three students to have not done anything important but given the fact everyone else has, it's only a matter of time.

RE: Volume 107 Prediction/Discussion
I think Luffy changing how he refers to Bonney is interesting because he's never done that before.
Also the new information about Sword is good. Oda clarified that Sword members haven't left the Navy. They've basically just pre-written their resignation so that if they end up in a situation that's awkward for the Marines, the Marines can legally disavow them. I do wonder what this means for Drake though, who is stated to be a member of Sword but publically has been stated to be ex-Navy already.
As for the Hibari stuff, it's very cute. It explains how Hibari fell for Koby.
-
RE: Volume 107 Prediction/Discussion
Seems like we also get the name of Bonney's Devil Fruit.
-
RE: UNDEAD UNLUCK
Yeah. They're presumably the 10 Master rules that make up the world.
-
RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
The droplet getting into the veins is fine. Bakugo was bleeding out everywhere, that's why Edgeshot was having to stitch everything up (and why Edgeshot was even in his veins). As for the heat needed to set it off, I'm sure there could be plenty of reasons. I mean, these are magic nitroglycerin-like sweat droplets so whose to say what sets them off. I don't think it needs to be thought of in that much detail to work narratively.
-
RE: Sakamoto Days
Yeah it does kinda suck that Lu has been relegated to the background, especially given every other female character introduced has ended up being taken away from the core group by the villains.
-
RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
It's kind of clever because we know Bakugo's blood is nitroglycerin and in real life nitroglycerin is actually used in medicine to dialate blood vessels and help the heart pump blood around the body. And it's believable that Bakugo's sweat could've entered his blood vessels via any of the cuts and bruises he has on his body. So this recovery saves Edgeshot, allows Bakugo to be responsible for his own revival and is based in actual science.

RE: Jujutsu Kaisen
Charles got captured/killed by the Americans. We're not sure which one because we didn't see in real time like with Remi and we never saw a body like with Hanyu.
-
RE: Jujutsu Kaisen
I suppose but it still bothers me that Gege introduced this character who looks very similar to another character whose already been introduced just to kill her off, rather than jsut using the character they already had.
I know a lot of folks complain about Gege introducing a bunch of random new characters in the culling game but they've been quite good at not leaving any of them just lingering around. They've either died, been captured or are now with our heroes. All except for Uro who just ran away as soon as Sukuna arrived in Sendai. -
RE: UNDEAD UNLUCK
Yeah Chapter 53 makes the most sense. It's the end of an arc afterall. 56 would also be a good stopping point.
-
RE: Jujutsu Kaisen
The tooth guy was alright in the culling games. He was just a side character in that, a grunt who worked for Reggie along with the Scorpion Girl, but we didn't know what happened to him after Reggie was defeated. He fought the comedian and then when Reggie died he just dipped. So I'm glad Gege at least showed us what happened, even if he did just exist for Kenjaku to monologue his plans.
Also, are we sure this new girl isn't Uro, but actually wearing clothes now? They look too similar for it to be a coincidence imo and Uro is one of the few characters left from the culling games that we have no clue what happened to them (along with the Sumo guy and the Katana guy who showed up in Maki's fight).

RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
You've said this a few times now Pariston. Is it a bit? Or do you not actually remember when Deku and Shigi left the UA dome? (It was Chapter 379)
Anyway, this chapter was short but I liked it. I don't want characters to die unneccersaily and while All Might could've died for a reason, the set-up for him to die in that way wasn't there (not unless Deku was to get some sort of anger based Super Saiyan power-up from it).

RE: Volume 107 Prediction/Discussion
Morgans and Hibari? I'm eating good today.
While there's a lot Oda could've put on there, I like that we get to see all of the SWORD squad together on a cover. They're probably my favourite new characters from Egghead.
