I get the feeling the MCU has really ruined what banter is for some people. That line from Luffy is not really a quip.

RE: PPPPPP
The idea with Lucky is that if he was selfish and played for himself then he would probably be the best musician out of all of them. But he got so influenced by outside sources as a child that he began playing exclusively to make others happy and it made him worse. Sorachika wants him to go back to being the selfish version becuase he believes Lucky is holding himself back but Lucky doesn't want that because he doesn't want to become something he thinks is uncareing / unkind (like his father).

RE: Chapter 1086: The Five Elders
Hopefully Stephen can go into it a bit more on the podcast on to why he went with these definitions. Ruler can also be taken in a different way to King (as a hero can also be a ruler) but Frame and Flame imply very different things. Frame makes it sound like a ship but Flame makes it sound like a power source.

RE: One Piece Live-Adaptation Drama Announced
Loguetown could be the season 2 opener. I could see it being split as:
1: Loguetown
2: Laboon and Whiskey Peak
3: Little Garden
4: Arriving at Drum Island and meeting Chopper
5: Chopper flashback and beating Wapol
6: Arriving at Alabasta up until leaving Yuba
7: Rainbase and start of Alubarna
8: Alubarna and beating CrocodileFeels like it would be better for Alabasta to have a fourth episode but it could still work.

RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
I don't think you've been understanding what Toga's gone through fully. I feel like the little flashbacks we've been getting for her shows that she's not innately evil or murderous, it's that her quirk gives her an unnatural attraction to blood to the point where she wants to drink it. When she was a young child she didn't know that was wrong but she also never killed anything in order to drink its blood, she just found already dead things. But her parents and society at large absolutely ostricized her and called her a freak and unnatural for doing things that to her felt normal. While she tried initially to hide this feeling and be 'normal' it was mentally taxing and no one was willing to listen to her, everyone from family to other audlts to class mates called her a freak and weirdo, which lead to her eventually snapping and killing someone.
All she wanted was to be treated normally, like everyone else, despite her quirk but no one gave her the time of day and it forced her into becoming a villain. But she doesn't want to be one. The reason she doesn't take a villain name is because she just wants to be herself and be acknowldged for it. The reason Twice's quirk is the only one she can replicate from the villain group is because he was the only one that fully accepted her just being her (at least that she knows) and so she loved him for that reason.
I don't think anyone here thinks that Toga is going to get off scott free. Just as Shigiraki is also a serial killer, he's also a victim of manipulation and abuse and he may also get Talk no Jutsu'd. But there will be punishment for that in the end, like life in prison for both of them. What Ochako has recognised and what she is saying here is that all Toga needed to avoid this path is just to have someone to listen to her side of things and understand who she is. Someone to treat her like she's normal, despite her quirk. And that's what Ochako is saying she'll do. She can't forgive her for killing lots of people and she can't absolve her of her crime but she can visit her in jail, be her friend and be someone she can lean on. Someone she can be a normal girl around where they can talk about romance and fashion and anything else 'normal' high school girls would talk about.
Ultimately, whether this all ends up being satisfying or not is going to depend on how Hori ends this. If Toga does literally just get away with murder and is fully forgiven by everyone for her crimes then that's bad. She has no 'bring everyone back to live again power' that Pain had in Naruto, which was the author trying to absolve him of his crimes. But I don't think Hori will go that way and so far in this final arc I would say this has been the most well-laid out and engaging conflict between hero and villain.

RE: Next Straw Hat Crewmates (Vol. 9 - Yamato vs. The World)
Vivi's been gone long enough that her power could literally be anything. We have no idea what she did in those 2 years, maybe her and Kohza trained with each other every day or something. If Vivi needs to be strong enough to deal with actual threats then she will be.
As for Carrot we'll see in the next chapter whether it happens or not. I would like it to as I would like an ew crew member, but we'll see. One thought I did have though is that Carrot does have another reason to join now. She's been asked to be King but she clearly seemed hesitant about it, although not totally against it. The idea that people had for Momo - going out to sea to become stronger and learn how to be a true leader - could be used for Carrot instead. And with one of the themes of the next saga absolutely being what it means to be a King (Pirate King, Im, Vivi, Revolutionaries) this could track. But next chapter will decide that.

RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
It's kind of clever because we know Bakugo's blood is nitroglycerin and in real life nitroglycerin is actually used in medicine to dialate blood vessels and help the heart pump blood around the body. And it's believable that Bakugo's sweat could've entered his blood vessels via any of the cuts and bruises he has on his body. So this recovery saves Edgeshot, allows Bakugo to be responsible for his own revival and is based in actual science.

I rather enjoyed Artur's deep dive into the Greek/Roman roots of the planet's names, as well as the Japanese interpretations of them. Perhaps it's more obvious what Imu represents than we once thought....
I think Imu's been pretty obvious since the start. It's literally Umi (sea) backwards and the ultimate enemy of devil fruit users is the sea. People have also theorized for a long time about an enemy that could potentially control water - would make sense for the final big bad.

RE: Egghead cuttaways
I'm not a fan in the moment but I want to wait until Egghead is done before I fully judge it. With the revelation that Blackbeard's pirate crew are coming to Egghead, Shanks is looking for Blackbeard, Morgans is monitoring the situation on Egghead somehow and that tomorrow will be a huge Earth-shaking event, I think in hindsight all these cutaways are going to be relevant for what is to come for the final act of Egghead.
Like, we now know that not all the BB pirates are coming to Egghead because they are being held up by Garp and Law, but BB himself may still arrive later. Shanks might also arrive now on Egghead and we know why. And the newspaper from Morgans may end up being what alerts all the Straw Hat Grand Fleet to show up and save Luffy. Or maybe Morgans himself will show up to get the big scoop on tomorrows event. At the same time, all this has helped set-up for possible future arcs, explaining how both Shanks and BB got the Road Poneglyphs, setting up Kid for Elbaf, possibly having Garp captured by BB.
It has been quite clunky in execution but I think all this stuff may tie-in together nicely by the end of Egghead and make more sense.

RE: Official Egghead Thread
@Deicide said in Official Egghead Thread:
This can be easily solved by not having a large downtime or period of respite between Round 1 and 2.
The crew doesn't need to suffer a real defeat for you to create this sense. Scatter them, kill some more Vegapunks, get some crewmates captured, make a scenario of imminent defeat.
THEN something happen that changes the tide of battle. Someone unexpected arrives. The Iron Giant awakens. Kuma saves the day. The Blackbeard Pirates interfere. This gives the crew the chance to regroup and adapt and push back the marine tide.
The marine siege does not need to be halted. The Straw Hats do not need to rest. It all feels like one single battle, but in story terms you did have act 2 to establish threat, stakes and struggle, and act 3 for the final confrontation and resolution.
But see, in this case I don't unserstand what people are complaining about because this is happening. Right now in the manga. The Vegaforce 1 was destroyed and that was their means of escape. Bonney has fallen down into the sea of Marines in the Fabriophase and is in danger of being captured or worse. Sentomaru is down. Stussy is down. Robin is potentially out of the fight as well due to her injuries. The crew are all being split up with Franky and Sanji going down below; Luffy, Zoro and Jinbei off on their own and the rest of the crew left to take care of Robin and try to escape.
This is the high tension moment and it's only going to get higher when Saturn arrives, the Seraphim escape and maybe when the Blackbeard pirates appear (depending on their role in all this). I'm getting the impression that you just want the tension to be even higher than it already is, which is fair enough sure, but you've been saying stuff like this arc having a restart and this not feeling like the climax and something else needs to happen for it to make sense from a literary perspective but that's just not true.
We've had the introduction phase and we're in the conclusion of act 2 with the rising stakes and climax. Act 3 will most likely come when either Saturn finally steps out and does his thing (because that's the highest point of the rising stakes) or when Kuma finally arrives/the giant robot wakes up because these are the two variables being set-up to help them escape (either by battling the marines for them or taking the Vegaforce 1's place and helping them escape).

RE: Next Straw Hat Crewmates (Vol. 10 - Egghead)
There's plenty of other roles on a ship but I doubt that matters very much anymore for getting a new crew member. Tama could've filled the role of Cabin boy (or girl in this case) and Carrot was shown to do various Lookout roles but then neither joined up.
There's also quite a lot of roles that multiple characters fulfill in the crew. First Mate and Quartermaster essentially do the same thing and both Zoro and Sanji have taken up those roles in the past. Sail Master has been done by all the crew, but in particular Franky and Jinbei have been show to do it. Boatswain has also been a role done by both Usopp and Franky as the story goes on. Then Powder Monkey's and Deckhands are just other apprentice roles like Cabin Boy (the former would be if Usopp specifically had an assistant while the latter is just a generic jack-of-all-trades job).
So even if there isn't a role filled, another member of the crew can just double-up on it (like Usopp has been Lookout several times and Franky was also the Helmsman until Jinbei joined). Also Zoro is technically not the first mate in the manga (he is in the live action though) and Robin doesn't have any specific ship role so I don't think it matters.

He doesn't have conflict. He doesn't grow or change. He doesn't learn anything. He doesn't lose or gain anything. If there was a story about how he decided to become Oden, we certainly didn't see it.This is objectively not true. For starters, we know exactly why Yamato wanted to become Oden. When he was a child he was inspired by Oden due to his actions and everything Shinobu said, and it made Yamato infatuated with the Samurai Spirit, so much so that Yamato said he wanted to grow up to be like Oden and carry on his spirit. This pissed Kaidou off and he beat Yamato and put chains on him, but Yamato wouldn't give up on this idea and so he was eventually locked away. There he met the Daimyo and they taught him how to read Oden's journal, fed him and ultimately sacrificed themselves to save his life. All this only deepend Yamato's love for the samurai and it's also where he learnt about Oden's wish to open Wano, about the 9 Scabbards and the fated war in 20 years. Through all this, Yamato developed his first dream about fulfilling Oden's wish and saving Wano, embodying the spirit of Oden in anyway possible.
Over this 20 year period, Yamato started gaining the desire to leave Onigashima and Wano so he could go on adventures just like Oden did, and when he met Ace this desire only increased. But Yamato had spent all this time running from Kaidou and only fantazising about leaving, mainly because of the explosive shackles but also because he was relying on Ace to return and save him. It's only after he learnt of Ace's death that Yamato was emboldened to actually try and defeat Kaidou all on his own while he waited for Luffy to arrive instead.
But part of Yamato still didn't want to hate his father, despite all the abuse. He just knew that defeating Kaidou is the only way to save himself and Wano. It's only after Luffy confirms that the cuffs would have absolutely exploded and killed Yamato that he realised that Kaidou didn't care about him and so he decided to cut Kaidou off entirely. He fully dedicates himself to the Samurai, even being willing to die alongside them if they fail.
It's also Yamato's infatuation with the Samurai that keeps him in Wano in the end. He's aware that Momo and the others aren't strong enough to deal with any type of threat and believes if he leaves then the Samurai run the risk of just being captured again. Even if that delays Yamato's dream from coming true, he chooses to stay there until Momo or someone can get strong enough that Yamato isn't needed anymore. He realises he can't just leave, and while it's frustrating for us as readers it makes sense that he would come to this conclusion in-universe.

I still think Bonney's crew status entirely depends on Kuma's outcome. If he dies then I would give it a 90% because she has nowhere to really go after that (unless the Revos show up and she wants to go their way for some reason). If Kuma lives then she has a 0% chance because she'll always pick her father over anyone else, even Nika.
I don’t get why ppl think Kuma is still alive. Especially if Vegapunk is dead dead.
Because he's not dead yet. They've commented on how his mind should be wiped and yet he keeps getting up and moving and acting whenever he needs to protect Bonney. And they've now removed him from the action with the Giants. So unless Saturn or Kizaru manages to get back to Bonney and Kuma gets back up and jumps back into the fray to protect her, he's getting out of this 'alive'.
Basically, if Kuma makes it out of Egghead Island itself, then that counts as him being alive, even if he is still in his vegetable state.
You said he keeps getting up as if he has got up again.
He showed up, protected his daughter and then dropped dead. He’s been carried around ever since showing no signs of life.
The way I interpreted things were his special nature as a buccaneer allowed him to keep going but not indefinitely. It’s not like the shitting him down had no effect or didn’t work at all.
Kuma’s body getting out of this doesn’t point to him being alive after this. At best maybe he gets one more goodbye but I kinda doubt even that.
This is actually wrong. When Kizaru cut the lift in half and the pacifistas were about to shoot th
All I said was he protected his daughter and dropped dead. You just talked about that in detail.
Also it’s false to say any time Bonney is in danger Kuma acts. Kizaru was going to shoot Bonney and Sanji saved her. Not Kuma. When Vice Admiral Tosa was going to attack Bonney as they were escaping it wasn’t Kuma that moved it was the giants. So I’m not sure where you’re getting any time Bonney is in danger Kuma acts. He hasn’t moved for a while now.
As far as leaving egghead with any other Punks, Stella entrusted Bonney to Luffy knowing that Kuma can’t and is most likely dead.
Nah. In both of those instances, we are not shown Kuma in panel. As far as it has been established to us by Oda, Kuma will have moved to protect Bonney in those instances but Oda showed us someone else beating him to the punch (Sanji and Brogy).
If Kuma has already died, Oda would've made a much bigger show of it.
I imagine Oda would be the sort to leave Kuma a little bit of humanity to say some famous last words in the event of death.
Exactly. If Kuma is dying then he's doing so in a big memorable and iconic way, like sacrificing himself to take out Saturn, while telling Bonney that he loves her.
-
RE: Next Straw Hat Crewmates (Vol. 10 - Egghead)
@Zik Your completely ignoring the fact that we have seen him do this multiple times now. If Kuma hadn't moved at all after his initial punch to Saturn then you might have an argument to stand on but we have seen him move after this: when Kizaru and the Pacifistas were about to shoot Bonney et al out of the sky.
And fine, maybe Kuma doesn't have to say he loves Bonney because he already did it in flashback but that doesn't mean Oda won't draw him going out in a big memorable battle moment. The point is, Oda's not going to have Kuma, a really important character to this arc and series, just completely drop dead and cease functions forever without it being acknowledged / shown to us. Vegapunk's comments that Kuma can still move despite everything is a clear indication that he's not permenantely down and out.

Reading all of this really puts it into perspective. It would've been great, but I guess Horikoshi just wanted to begin wrappin up the story.

RE: 1071: ''Luffy's Peak - Obtained! 'Gear Fifth'''
The SFX were great. Ignoring the obvious filler flashbacks, the repeated animation loops and the Hiyori section (which is fine btw, but just like in the manga it's obviously not what we are here to see right now) I think the main complaint this episode is just how chaotic the direction is on some scenes. A lot of them are great and fun, but the one where Kaidou does his Blast Breath and Luffy reflects it is OTT. The shots we want to see, like Luffy with his eyes popping out, are a couple frames at best, and it's really hard to follow the action in your first watch. And then when Luffy is reflecting the blast back the camera is zooming in and out of Luffy non-stop, like a bad shaky cam in a movie action sequence.
Don't get me wrong, there are some sequences in this episode that are great but then there are sections that are too extra. It's like that previous Luffy moment when he uses CoC and Toei used massive amounts of bloom to the point you could barely see what was happening.

RE: Post-Wano plotline roundup: Big Mom
If Big Mom goes down here then I am fine with it, although I feel like given her speech at the end she should come back somehow. I think she was handled pretty well outside of the convieniant amnesia at the start. I think it was important that someone besides Luffy took down an emperor of the sea and this was a good way of making sure it was off-screen. She was also very intimidating throughout the raid, more so than Kaidou a lot of the time.
Her crew on the other hand was handled really badly. Perospero is fine but I still don't understand why he even needed to be here. and the rest of the crew not being able to get onto the island was just silly.

RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
This was the only outcome that could happen short of her going to prison (which who knows, maybe she will survive, If someone can get there in time it's not impossible). Even if Toga is only like this because of society, it wouldn't be very satisfying if she got off scot-free for her crimes, and I think her sacrficing herself to save someone isntead of kill someone is a very poignant way to wrap up her story.
In a different world, Toga's unique quirk could've helped her save countless lives but because of the society she lived in where anyone who didn't conform to social norms is a deviant, she was shunned, made to fear about how others view her and ultimately pushed into the villain role. It really does push the messaging Hori has been going for about society itself being the real evil.

RE: 1089: "A New Chapter! Luffy and Sabo's Paths!"
That new One Piece opening was actually fire, oh man. The music makes the whole thing super epic and there are so many really fantastic shots and transitions that are really cleaverly done (and I don't just mean the transitions from Sabo - Bonney or Luffy rewinding through all his outfits over the series). A phenomabnal opening. The episode as a whole was great in fact. I'm fine with them having these ending segments with Chopper and Robin in order to catch fans up, especially with how long we were in Wano for and how many of these characters weren't in that arc at all. It would be neat if they adapeted some cover stories or SBS answers in these segments in the future though.

RE: Next Straw Hat Crewmates (Vol. 9 - Yamato vs. The World)
Yeah I'm pretty sure Vivi is the only one left. With the cliffhanger from this week, I suspect the next few chapters will be letting us know what happened at the Reverie from Sabo's perspective (including revealing who really killed Cobra) and the reveal at the end will be that Vivi is with Sabo. But the reason Sabo hasn't gone back to the Revolutionaries is that he's actually going to see Luffy (using the vivre card he made of him in Dressrosa) and taking Vivi with him (maybe at her request, we'll have to see).
Given Sabo is Luffy and Ace's brother (and Vivi is one of the few cahracter to actually meet Ace) I reckon she would trust him and potentially reveal her connection to the Straw Hats to him.

RE: One Piece Live-Adaptation Drama Announced
I think the series is going to aim to have one season be one saga. CP9 could potentially be two but they could get away with justh aving a slightly longer episode count and condensing a lot down. So something like this:
Season 1: East Blue
Season 2: Alabasta
Season 3: Skypeia
Season 4: CP9 (long season)
Season 5: Thriller Bark and Saboady
Season 6: The rest of pre-Timeskip
Season 7: Fishman Island and Punk Hazard
Season 8: Dressrosa
Season 9: Zou and Wholecake Island
Season 10: reverie and Wano
Season 11: The final sagaAnd this is still crazy long for a long running season. It's certainly possible that they drastically reduce things. They could possibly cut Zou altogether or drastically reduce Thriller Bark down to a couple of episodes if they needed to.
-
RE: The next arc: what will it be?
There are three options imo.
- 1: a brand new island we have never seen and it's where Vegapunk is located. Like people have said, his hometown had a winter climate and Punk Hazard's lab was on the wintr side (although it shouldn't have been that when Vegapunk was actually there).
- 2: Kaidou's favourite island. We don't have a name for it but it's th one from the Caribou cover story. No clue if Scotch is still there but it was also a winter island, is close to Wano, and Caribou already played a role there and has connections to it, so him being here now could be important. It also had its own revolutionaries who may or may not be connected to Dragon.
- 3: It's the unnamed Winter Island where Ace met Shanks. It's possible it is a part of Shank's territory and may have been the island he just came from when he passed by Wano. I don't think we have a name for it.
The first two seem more likely to me but I want to throw the third one out there as an option.
-
RE: Sakamoto Days
The rifle gag is great. The scene where he's thinking about the two of them hanging out and it's just two guns being the best of friends cracked me up.

RE: Episode 1 (Romance Dawn) - Discussion
Yeah, I think they want us as an audience to believe that Garp is going to be this big threat to Luffy (which he is tbf) only to then do the big reveal that this is all personal because he just wants to stop his Grandson.
-
RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
I think for the off-board crew idea it really does depend on intention. Kyros, Paulie and Kinemon - none of them have any desire to actually go and travel with the Straw Hars right now and are content with living on their islands.
An argument could be made for Momo but the story sems to imply that his first priority is to stay on Wano and be Shogun rather than go out to sea with Luffy. That's why he asks Luffy and co to stay on Wano rather than asking to go with them. This is different enough from Vivi who would love to continue travelling with the Straw Hats but knew that she had to stay behind and help look after her kingdom. She couldn't abandon the kingdom and so had to leave the crew. So she fits the off-board crew definition a it more (and I think other factors that only Vivi and Carue have, like actually being treated as crew members during the Baroque Works saga by both Oda, the anime and merch, work in their favour).
Yamato and Tama defo have off-crew status though. Both want to travel with Luffy, Luffy has accepted them both, ut both have some kind of issue preventing them from getting on the ship at this point in time (protecting Wano and training). They'll almost certainly join post-series but for now, they are almost certainly 'off-board' crew members.

RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
The droplet getting into the veins is fine. Bakugo was bleeding out everywhere, that's why Edgeshot was having to stitch everything up (and why Edgeshot was even in his veins). As for the heat needed to set it off, I'm sure there could be plenty of reasons. I mean, these are magic nitroglycerin-like sweat droplets so whose to say what sets them off. I don't think it needs to be thought of in that much detail to work narratively.
-
RE: Season 1 General Discussion
Yeah, I think utilising Coby and Helmeppo now while they have them, is a good call, and ultimately they managed to tie-it in to the overall themes of the show (creating parallels between Garp and Zeff was a brilliant move).
I get the frustration with the locations only feeling like a backdrop, Cocoyashi in particular suffering from this, but in the grand scheme of things I would much rather they focused on the five Straw Hats and letting the audience get to know them and giving Luffy a character arc to follow instead of spending time diving into areas we'll never see again. They only had 8 episodes so they needed to get their priorites right and I think they did.

RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
I still think your overhyping Shiki and that Crocodile falling much earlier should be enough that proves its fine that Luffy can beat Shiki now. You kind of disregarded Crocodiles strength in your previous post about it but he is meant to be one of the big rookies of his own generation, that was there when Roger was executed (along with Shanks, Moriah, Doflamingo and Mihawk). Crocodile even previously fought against Whitebeard prior to fighting Luffy (although he did lose).
This is kinda why power-scaling can be a bit silly in One Piece. While Oda does try to have some power-scaling battles make sense, if Luffy needs to beat an opponent he will and if that opponent is later revealed to have been from some powerful crew or fought other powerful characters in the past then they just will. Remember Arlong is a part of the Sun Pirates which was a New World pirate crew and was framed as being the third strongest, just after Fisher Tiger and Jinbei. And then he was beaten by East Blue Luffy.
Even if Shiki was a rival of Roger, he never made it to Emperor status or Warlord status, we only ever saw him lose to charactrs like Roger and Garp and Sengoku. And it's also been 24 years since then. Just because some Shonen geezers are super strong and its a trope, doesn't mean every Shonen geezer is.

RE: Chapter 1071: The Hero Deploys
The more I think about it, the more I think a some of the events in this chapter are Oda misdiretions.
-
Oda makes it look like Kuma has returned to the government but I think the truth is he crashed into the Red Line because it's too tall to fly overand all this has done is delay him and make the Marines aware of his actions.
-
Oda makes the dome go down which makes readers feel like there is a possible traitor in the midst, but there are plenty of reasons it could've happened. Maybe Caribou or Brook did something by accident or maybe that new mystery person needed it to go down so he could enter? I don't think one of the Punks will be a traitor.

I wasn't keen on Toga dying nor the black and white message from Spinner's final battle basically saying Don't Fight Your Oppressors (Although, maybe I'm remembering it wrong.). I feel Horikoshi is maybe going too deep into the emotional trauma weeds without the experience to give a satisfying conclusion that isn't a mostly surface level moral without depth.
On the Spinner thing I think the message is meant to be that violence just leads to more violence, and just because some people oppressed you doesn't mean everyone did. Their hatred was justified but their plan was to attack a hospital full of innocent people who did nothing wrong to them and it fell apart once the mob realised that it was pointless violence, spurred on by a handful of individuals with worse intentions. It was less about not fighting your oppressors and more about not blaming the majority for the minority (esepcailly when it comes to issues like racism).
We'll see how Horikoshi handles this but its clear this was the intent from the start with these characters. With how far gone Shigaraki was, a talk-no-jutsu on the level of Naruto and Pain would absolutley not work. Deku needs to get down into the root problem of Shigaraki's hatred and make an attempt at coxing him out of it. All the pieces are there but it will come down to how well thought out Horikoshi has done this.

I said it more than once but Sanji makes no sense. If the Vinsmokes can use their ability without the suit so should Sanji become invisible without a suit... And if he could it won't make sense as well... Cuz how could you ENHANCE the invisibility of Sanji through as suit?
Further this brings up the question. Who Ichiji and Co used their powers WITHOUT their suits to break up from the table?
They even called themselves useless without the suit
With the suit Sanji can turn invisible but without it no enemies notice him as an actual threat.

RE: Chapter 1074: Mark III
You know what, I thought about it and I think all Wapol really knows is who really killed Cobra (i.e. the Government). He probably witnessed the truth and that means that he now had to disappear.

Do it, Horikoshi! Have your Endgame moment! Just make sure you throw in Skycrawler.
Yes, if they're going to summon all the heroes from across the world in then that better include our Vigilante heroes. This is their best shot of showing up.
@Ubiq said in My Hero Academia II - A true Hero:
So was the mention of stripping out half of Shigaraki's Quirk foreshadowing for Eri rewinding it to the full version and he just "fixes" all of the bad stuff that happened?
I don't think her quirk works like that. She'd have to rewind Shigaraki all the way back into being a child again, before his quirk developed.
@fana said in My Hero Academia II - A true Hero:
I agree that the writing is bad but I don't think it will be as bad as having the heroes bring Eri in the middle of the battle against the final boss.
If Deku recovers during the fight, it won't be by putting a child, currently safe in a shelter, in danger.
If Kurogiri can warp people into the battle then he can warp Deku out of it and to where Eri is. They already established that Eri can't go to the battlefield so Deku going to her is more likely.

RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
I think Uta will probably go the way of Shiki where she makes cameos in the main manga or in silhouette but never actually shows up for any major roles or arcs. Like maybe we'll see an Uta poster or a cameo in the Shanks flashback but nothing substantial.

I feel the unofficial matches the panel with the den den mushi better, as it seems it’s getting calls but not answering them.
I think the kzzr is meant to indicate that Sentomaru isn't able to get any messages. Like he's trying to listen into the Marine's plans uing their line but can't seem to pick anything up. That's why he has the Pacifista go and look out for the Marines instead, because he doesn't know what their plan is.
It would be good to ask a Japanese speaker though to double check this.

RE: What do you think about the Seraphims ?
I think they're great. Depending on who has been cloned (like is there an Ace Seraphim?) there can be some real emotional drama raised in the story and that's really cool.

Considering how confident readers are in Luffy's ability to shrug off one of the Marine's Top 4, I feel reminding everyone that the path won't be easy is even more needed now. This isn't accurate to what people are saying. Just because a lot us expect Luffy to win does not mean it's going to be an easy win. This won't be like Luffy vs Lucci where Luffy seemingly bodied him. If it doesn't get interupted then it will come down to the wire.

RE: Volume 105 Predictions/Discussion
I think we're going to get Luffy, Chopper, Jinbei and maybe Bonney in the middle as full body shots in their new outfits and then either a shot of the city layer of Egghead (kinda like the first Fishman Island volume) or it will be boxes with key characters around Luffy (specifically Coby, Hancock, Blackbeard, Law, Sabo and Dragon or Lucci (or Lilith if they want a Vegapunk there but I think they might save the Vegapunk's for the next volume cover when they can have all 7 of them).

RE: Chapter 1109: Interception
No, I think it's a feature exclusive to the Elders. I also like the idea that these are their souls and we have to defeat their real bodies. It means someone has to go to the Navy ship and defeat Saturn there, which Kizaru could do if we do get to the point of him giving up on everything.

RE: Let's talk about Garp, before it's too late
Garp's great and if we ever get a One Piece spin-off series I hope it's about him.
I think it's clear that Garp's motivation has always been to protect people. Unlike Luffy, who doesn't want to be a hero, Garp does. He became a Marine to make things better for people, even before the Great Pirate Era, but he never got to the same extreme that Akainu did partly because of his personality and because of Roger. Garp and Roger clearly had respect for one another and Garp is aware that not all criminals are actually bad people. Equally, he also knows that that the World Government and Marines aren't always the paragons of good. he's aware that the Celestial Dragons are just as evil as the pirates, but unlike the pirates Garp can't do anything about it. I'm sure whatever motivated Dragon to start the Revolutionary Army is also something that Garp has seen, but by that point he was the symbol of the Marines. It's hero. And with that position comes responsibility that he can't just abandon for his own needs.
Garp's stuck between being a symbol to the generations of Marines below him like Aokiji and Coby, and his own personal life and feelings - being able to support his family and disaproving of the Celestial Dragons. That's why he takes control whenever he can, chosing to remain a Vice Admiral because if he was an Admiral it would mean he would have to directly serve the Celestial Dragons, and he doesn't want that. Now in the post-TS, where Akainu refuses to let him retire and his work has cost him his grandson he just doesn't care as much anymore. He goes by his own flow now. I think he also clearly respected Sengoku more than he does Akainu. I'm not sure pre-TS Garp would go out on his own to attack Blackbard like he's about to do.

Yeah i'm sticking with the idea that the unexpected hero of Egghead will be...Borsalino! The dim monkey will finally see the light after Vegapunk's message... He's clearly struggling, and i don't think the reason for that is entirely because of Luffy, to say the least.
That's what I'm hoping. At the very least, I want Luffy and Kizaru to have one final stand-off, given he might be aware of Nika and the legends through Kuma and Bonney. There could be a great scene brewing where a completely deflated and mentally exhausted Kizaru faces Luffy and says Luffy has to defeat him once and for all to prove he's really the liberator they've all been waiting for. I think it could make for an epic double spread.

RE: The Best and Worst of One Piece - 2022 Edition
Gear 5 Luffy was probably the funnest thing last year, and Wano ending was the best thing last year lol
The Yamato fake-out was easily the worst thing of last year though. So many years of leading readers on and we don't even get to find out why Yamato didn't join until a few chapters after the fact in an awkward flashback.
