Guys, can we keep the topic on One Piece in here? If you want to talk about other manga, there's a whole section in the forum for that.

RE: Settei Pre
I agree with you there, it seems more difficult to find the settei pre like that as opposed to the more minor characters of an arc. And I didn't intend to come off as sounding so harsh last night, I was tired and probably right on the verge of typing nonsense (I have to stop posting when I'm like that), so my intent wasn't very clear.

RE: How do you think One Piece will end? (possible spoilers)
The final fight isn't the same thing as the end of the series, Gumgumbattleaxe.

RE: The Return Journey
http://apforums.net/showthread.php?t=13419 Already have a thread basically like this. Just keep in mind it's in the general section and not everyone reads the manga.

RE: Settei Pre
They have to make them for every character, otherwise the animation houses wouldn't know how to draw them. And considering how off-model things can get even with the drawings, let's not criticize too much, since this was we at least have recognizable characters consistently.
How many shots of the main characters do you think they need? There's plenty of them out there already and those things do cost money/time/effort to make.

RE: Japanese language
Haven't taken Japanese since Fall quarter and particles weren't my strong point, but since we were expected to use them properly on tests (despite not covering them in class or the book, thank you), I did a lot of work on them. A friend of mine, a linguistsics grad student, actually pointed out that another difference between 'wa' and 'ga' is the use of new information in a sentence. He said that if you were bringing up a subject or idea that hadn't been discussed before you'd use 'ga', whereas if it had been talked about before, you'd use 'wa'. On top of the whole 'emphasis' thing.
And Captain Usopp, I think it'd be more correct to say "Luffy desu ka", the "anata wa" just sounds more awkward and less like actual speech. Subjects aren't always necessary in Japanese sentences.

RE: Absalom and Perona?
Wow, guys, the level of maturity in this thread is mind-boggling. I love it when people bash other members for making a thread. Really. You're awesome.
Hermy, this wasn't that bad of a thread, especially compared to a lot of the other threads in here. It was just already discussed in the chapter discussions a while back, which is why it didn't show up in your search (which I thank you for using, by the way).

RE: Thundercats (Roar)
90s, 80s both really the same thing. I was referring to late 80s and early 90s
Speaking as someone who grew up in both decades, uhh, yeah, there's a difference, trust me.
And you know what's really funny (to me) about this rumored new movie? This very morning my roommate was bitterly theorizing that there'd be a Thundercats movie sometime soon if the Transformers one did well. Tickled me.
-
RE: Thundercats (Roar)
Thundercats and JI Joe weren't 90s cartoons, they both ended in the 80s. I'll reserve my opnion on Captain Planet, since I was well outside its targeted age bracket when it was on. But yeah, the 80s nostalgia's in full swing and the Hollywood remake machine's on board. ^^;

RE: Official RAW Discussion II
Just watched it. Nicely done episode, but I still dislike this animation house. I don't like their character sheets– animation-quality aside (which seemed decent in this ep), I don't like how the characters look. It's just a personal aesthetic, though, overall it was a very nice episode.

RE: K-F Movie 6
They're subbing everything in order, so you'll have to wait for the next two (or one, depending on how you count) story arcs to be over first. And movie 8 isn't even out on DVD yet.
-
RE: Settei Pre
Sanji used to be taller than Zoro back in the earlier episodes, but they evened out a bit more in the later ones. Not sure why, but all the height charts were like that.

RE: Chapter 457 "MEAT~~~!!!" Discussion
All right, the spoilers have been dealt with, so enough about them. For the record, since it evidently wasn't made VERY obvious in the past: SPOILERS BELONG IN THE SPOILER TOPIC AND NO WHERE ELSE!
-
RE: K-F Movie 6
Ahhhh, I love this movie. I've watched it so many times, but now I can watch it with subtitles! Yaay! Thanks, K-F! This looked like a lot of work went into it (and I know not everyone on staff likes it that much), so thank you for doing such a good job with it.

RE: Reactions
This does not need its own thread. Use the chapter thread for pete's sake, people!

RE: Schools and Anime/Manga.
I know I've told this story before, but it seems to fit in here. I worked at a movie theater last year and we'd get a lot of job applications when we were hiring. I handled one girl who dropped an application off wearing one of those Naruto headbands, which I thought was odd, but figured maybe she was downtown anyway and just decided to drop it off, or maybe didn't know the ettiquite about dress even when just dropping an app. off. Didn't think much of it until she came in to interview… wearing the same headband. I had to snicker to myself in the back. I see her around town sometimes, always wearing the headband, and I have to wonder what the tanline on her forehead must be like.

Uhhh…. no. We have the rule for a reason, believe me.

RE: Mods unfair sometimes continued my pointz
Look, as people have already pointed out, both in this thread and the last one, if you disagree with a decision a mod makes about closing a thread you can PM either them or another mod, present your case (politely, since yelling will make people less willing to do you any favors), and the mod in question will take another look and re-evaluate it. That's not a guarantee they'll re-open the thread if they feel their initial assessment was right, but they will look at it. I've re-opened threads in the past that people have PMed me about because they gave me valid reasons to. If you have a problem, talk to someone about it, don't start a thread whining about how unfair it all is.

RE: Official RAW Discussion II
Okay, I really shouldn't have to say anything, but since this still seems to be smoldering a bit, I'd just like to remind people that having different opinions is not a crime, but please, for the sake of not inciting a flame war, try to keep from being a jerk about them. Thanks.

RE: If the Shichibukai are so strong, then why havent they found One Piece?
Why do these discussions always come back to "who's strongest, blank or blank" when that isn't the initial topic of the thread? Come on!
-
RE: Does the D stand for Devil(SPOILER)
So this isn't in the chapter discussion…. why? I'm pretty sure there's a D family thread floating around somewhere, too....

RE: I wanna draw better
I really don't reccomend "how to" books for drawing, all they teach you is how to draw one particular way– frankly, I think the last thing the world needs is yet another person who draws generic-looking anime people. I'd reccomend anatomy books, maybe some books on perspective and shading if you don't want to take classes for them, but really, when you get down to it, the BEST way to learn how to draw is to practice, practice, practice. There really isn't a shortcut around that part. I'd reccomend looking at people whose art you admire and try and figure out what it is you like about and try it out with your own stuff. Some things will work, some things won't, and it might take you a while to get the hang of some, but that's pretty much how it goes with learning anything.

RE: Who defeated Moria ?
So….. chapter discussion? Shichibukai discussion? Anyone? If people have a preference, I'll move the thread there upon request, but I don't think this needs its own one.
-
RE: Is Oz a D.?
Chapter discussion. Seriously, what's wrong with the chapter threads for this stuff??
-
RE: Kaidou
There's a Shichibukai discussion a few threads down, please use that. Thanks.
-
RE: Official RAW Discussion II
We don't have individual topics for each episode because it's needless clutter, yet another thread for us to try and watch, and one more thread that would push other discussion topics off the page. I'm not sure why some forum members have a phobia of contained threads, so I guess we're even.
-
RE: Settei Pre
o_o I love you guys. Seriously. I LOVE settei pre but I can never find them! Where did you find that book, kitanokokoro, and did they have any more??

RE: Revamping the Shichibukai = Seven Deadly Sins Theory
Uhhh, I'm pretty sure I closed a thread exactly like this yesterday. We already have Shichibukai threads, this one doesn't really need its own topic.
-
RE: Themes of the Powers
I'm really not sure what the point of this is. We have Shichibukai threads, we have Devil Fruit threads… why not use one of those instead of making a whole new one?
-
RE: Pirates of the carrabian at worlds end = onepiece final saga?
Yeah, this thread's closed now.
-
RE: Trying out One Piece…again
The snot globbies are one of the things that first attracted me to the show– I love that people don't look all pretty when they cry in this, since I don't know anyone who looks pretty when they cry in real life. Makes it seem more emotional to me, slightly more genuine. Or something, I'm not sure how to word what I want to say. But yeah, I like it.

RE: One Piece's huge decline in quality.
This can be (and has been) discussed at length in the raw thread.

RE: Your favorite/least favorite animated films
I liked the earlier Don Bluth stuff a lot, like the Secret of Nimh, the original Land Before Time, etc., even though I haven't seen them since I was a kid. I enjoyed Anastasia, too, although the animation style for DB stuff is perplexing to me; almost rotoscoped with just enough exaggeration and bounciness to mess with my head.
I always loved the classic Disney stuff like Sleeping Beauty, was in love with the Little Mermaid when it came out, along with most of the "second wave" Disney stuff from that time (except the Lion King, I never really liked that one). I have a major, major soft spot for Hercules, since I'm a total Greeknerd, and I loved The Emperor's New Groove for a lot of reasons but mainly because it was really nice to see them try something different for a change. I also really liked Lilo and Stitch for a lot of the same reasons.
I absolutely adore the Incredibles, I saw it 5 times in the theater, which is unheard of for me anymore. Also the Iron Giant is one of my long-standing favorites. Of course the Miyazaki stuff has to go in there, Princess Mononoke in particular (I was disappointed in Howl's Moving Castle, though). I also really liked the Triplets of Bellville, for anyone who missed that when it came out, and the Nightmare Before Christmas was a long-standing favorite, too. Who Framed Roger Rabbit is still up there, too.
As far as least favorite, the cheap-quels by Disney and Don Bluth (Land Before Time 5 billion, anyone?), and I have honestly never cared for Snow White, even when I was a kid. I understand its importance and how ground breaking it was, but the film itself really never did anything for me. And I have to put Cool World in here, 'cause that was just a stinky pile of cheese if I ever saw one.
Oh! And I LOVED the Rankin-Bass stuff from the 70s and 80s! The Hobbit and Flight of Dragons in particular (I watched that second one so much when I was a kid my parents finally forbade me from renting it anymore). I saw the Last Unicorn, but there was swearing and harpy boobies in it, which freaked me out. But yeah, I still love those.

Meh, just felt like sharing. Thought this was pretty cool, especially since these girls are all deaf.
Not exactly Halo, but I thought it was neat.

RE: What's Your Favorite Dessert?
Chocolate mousse. I love it and I never get to have it since no place around here makes it and I'm too lazy to.

RE: Official RAW Discussion II
~Editorial~
There shall be no revealing of events taking place past the events in the anime in here, as some people don't read the manga and don't like spoilers. This does not just apply to the manga board. This is in the rules of the forum, go check, the list of them is not long. If you are found to be spoiling people, ignorance really isn't much of an excuse since it's your job to read the forum rules before posting. Furthermore, if people have pointed out to you that you have broken the rules and pissed people off in the process, a wise course of action would NOT be to insult them and start a flame war– apologies and an editing of the original post is a good start so more people don't get spoiled. Telling everyone right now to knock it off with the flame wars. Arguing reasonably is one thing, calling people names and telling them places they can go is quite another.

RE: Grindhouse: A Rodriguez/Tarantino Double Feature
Just saw this last night and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. I hadn't really wanted to see it much beforehand, at least in the theater, but I'm really glad I did now. I really, really liked it and it's been a long time since I laughed that much in a movie theater. I have to say, I almost walked out part of the way into Death Proof, since I really don't get off on seeing innocent people die horribly and I just could not fathom why a friend of mine (a certified zombie-holic, no less) grudgingly admitted she liked it more than Planet Terror, but the end was so incredibly awesome, I understand completely now. I seriously, seriously enjoyed myself through the whole thing.

RE: My impressions of the show
I think there's already a thread discussing people's favorite arcs somewhere.
-
RE: Who will become Pirate Queen?
Everyone, knock it off. There's already a thread for pairings, so stop using this one to snipe at each other.

RE: Oda's plan for Dragon
There's already a bunch of threads for Dragon. Here's one, there's tons more if it's not what you need: http://apforums.net/showthread.php?t=10149

RE: Battle of the 3 logias- which is the strongest
Guys, this is just a big ol' versus thread, which we kind of frown on here in the first place, and it's a match up that's been discussed before. I'm kind of sick of seeing it, as a matter of fact.

RE: The happiest place on Earth
I didn't wind up going to any sort of theme park until just a few years ago; before all I'd been to was the annual local fair. Totally different animal. I'm not a big ride person and before actually going to Dsneyland I really didn't get the appeal of paying $50+ to get in, then buying tickets to go on rollercoasters and such, plus food and blah blah. My roommate, who grew up in San Diego and has been to Dsneyland many, many times, laughed at me and had to explain that you don't have to buy tickets to go on the rides, and the rides there weren't like the greasy, nasty carny rides I was used to. So yeah, D-Land was a lot different than I'd been expecting, I was on a very well-earned vacation while I was there, I was with good friends, and we all had a blast. So I have no great beef with the place, I think it's pretty fun. Run out of things to do in one day, but that's fine as there are loads of other things I like to do in San Diego, too. I really don't like the Star Tours ride, though, it's the only thing aside from Space Mountain that makes me motion sick. ^^;

RE: Belli exchange rate?
It's probably amout equivilant to the Japanese yen, coincidentally.
