Franky vs Sasaki was fine, it just didn't have that extra oomph for me to call it amazing.
The other fights were fine but definitely left me wanting.
NAMI and Usopp… I refuse to acknowledge that one. Ulti got done dirty

The only fight I thoroughly enjoyed from beginning to end was Robin vs Black Maria. All the others were hit or miss throughout.
I don't see any major changes that would make Yamato stay. There's still a lot of narrative appeal that indicates Yamato will be leaving on the Sunny.
Honestly, I'm pretty disappointed with how things have been going since Nika stuff started happening. And I'm not that confident in getting that "Satisfying" conclusion at this point.
That was so on the nose timing wise.
I feel like that's going to pay off in Luffy star eyes at some point but maybe I'm wrong.
Who wouldn't get starry eyes from a big deified wolf?
I'm in the same boat here.
Oda tried to pull a sneaky in there by not letting Luffy see his DF form.:ninja:
Yamato's flashback will obviously continue since it never bothered to elaborate who the samurai were and what happened to them.
Ushimaru alone is too big of a deal to not explore further.
Yeah, there's no way this is it.
Especially when we know Ushimaru dies and how important he actually is.
I'm actually surprised the Nami face argument still exists lol
Now I'm half-expecting Yamato to learn about Judge from Queen just to tie him in with Sanji lol.
Hey, hey, Yamato has 'unknown' birth origins :ninja:
I think Yamato's flashbacks are interesting
Yamato's first flashback was him and Ace, and how it tied him to Luffy via vivre card and Secret dream.
Now we have a flashback with him and Ushimaru, who is definitely related to Zoro… Meaning Yamato has a narrative tie to Zoro too in some degree
I agree that Bodyguard role is a bit of a stretch.
But there's apprentice (which is an Oda thing to pull lol)
Or it could stem from Odens journal.
Yamato's flashback is like an inversion of Zoro's first scene. Now it's the girl who is hungry and tied up and it's the swordsman who feeds her.
Oh!!! I really like this observation!
Hmmmm inner character conflict… That sounds familiar...
There's still plenty of story to tell.
Yamato's role will come, and it's probably going to be an interesting one at that.
Yamato has been repeatedly been saying his desire to set sail for awhile now, and now we have a flashback from 20 years ago reinforcing that desire. I just think there's some nit picking here and there about it.
As for the 'too strong' argument, doesn't matter. Luffy, Zoro, Sanji are going to make great strides by the end of this arc and with more room to grow. Things will level out like usual.
This little flashback feels like a prelude to a bigger flashback.
It's got vibes similar to the Drum Island flashback.
Official is out.
This truly is Yamato's week.
Yamato's second flashback and who woulda thunk he'd get 3 mentor like figures?
Including Zoro-Dad:ninja:
Uh…..
All this info coming out is real interesting.
Yamatos unknown birth origin is another hint toward a flashback happening. Rather it's Kaido's or his.
Towels, Figures, etc. Alongside the VA reveal and We Are One episode coinciding with the Yamato's first Anime appearance. Really is the week of Yamato.
Of course, the merch doesn't mean much, but I do want those towels lol
He would've been 22 when Oden was born..
Interesting…
To me… Oda probably just wanted to Put Yamato next to Oden bc it would look cool. I don't think a deep dive is really necessary for this
I'm very curious about the F6 bounties as they'll give us a better idea of the SH bounty increases.
Jinbe in particular, I don't expect a huge bump at all
Yet… They had a big reveal for the VA of Yamato in a grandiose way.
Seems more nitpicky to me.
Odd… Why would a VA, who has a impressive resume, go against Yamato's chances?
Vivi, raizo, kinemon, and law are characters I really like.
Yamato had that really cool panel in 1,016 too. Even after spending time with Momo.
I'm just going to assume Blackbeard. They're both slimy and opportunistic
I'm at the point where that theory doesn't matter to me. Lol
And I'm not really keen on Caribou. Only interesting thing about him is the Big Secret and his fruit… Other than that he's pretty much like Caesar to me.
Personally I don't see that happening but idk.
Though, it's he didn't go starry eyes on the Scabbards.
With this chapter, we gave to deal with possibility of Tama being aged up.
But I do agree with Monquito.
It's been so so looooong… ROBINNNN.
I absolutely loved this fight. It's my favorite of the F6 fights.
As for Momo being matured... While I'm not a fan of it, at least he has the resolve.
Honestly, the "I'm Oden" stuff isn't nearly as bad as it was from the beginning. At least through his journey in the raid, he's been coming more into his own. I don't expect it to completely disappear, but I just don't find it annoying
Once Tama completes her friends list by the end, Wano will also have the smile users protecting it.
Meaning Yamato won't have to worry about it. Even though he'd still go regardless.
With Yamato's DF being revealed… I know there's references to Momotaro, especially the dog and then there's the wolf from Yamato Takeru tales.
So my question is... Are there any other references behind this wolf?
@Galleon:
Its to note that Yamato's not-so-wolfish design may also be a attribute to the fact that the Oguchi no Makami was also considered to be a species of Komainu (Lion-Dog), so the full beast form could take a design that is resembling a mix of a wolf with the attributes of a komainu.
That's a mighty interesting bit of info. Thanks for sharing.
Personally Momo wanting that responsibility and being a dragon fits the guardian role well.
Yamato can go do his thing and be the adventurous spirit that he is.
Yamato has consistently rejected and fought against that role. No way I see him magically changing his mind, especially after 1,016.
This is all I wanted in a Robin fight… Love it. Something is definitely weird with Black Maria
Seems Brook is going to fight the ghoulies. Awesome
Yamatos DF hybrid form looks a lot better this chapter and looking at the different angles. Very nice.
Seems Momo is going to be getting over his fear of heights soon
We don't know that. He's married to Wano I agree, but Wano is important to the world of One Piece as a whole which Oden knew. Perhaps Kin'emon will discover some reason to continue on with the Strawhats after learning of Wano's importance in the grand scheme of things and inherit Oden's will.
Again, I think Kinemon would be lame and I think as a samurai he's too same-y since we already have Zoro but those are just personal gripes of mine.
Has he expressed desire to go out to sea? I haven't seen him express or even hint at wanting to. Only reason he left was to find help defeating Kaido and opening Wano's borders. His desire and loyalty is one and the same.
And Zoro already mastered his fire cutting ability.
Kinemon is out.
He's married to Wano. His whole desire is to free Wano and nothing else.
A Kaido/Yamato Flashback happening would be right after the F6 falls and before Luffy reaches the roof I think. Either that or it happens at Kaido's defeat.
Interestingly enough, when I first saw how Kaido's subordinates dressed. I instantly thought of Avalo Pizarro bc of the way his fake horns looked.
Boy, would it be very interesting if he had a lion fruit lol. Cat vs Dog. I dig it
Also if Greg is right about Avalo Pizzaro being Kaido's former King, it would make for a perfect Straw Hat vs Black Beard match up
Now THAT would be a very interesting thing to see.
Okay but that just means during this particular segment of the story, Yamato is playing a somewhat central role. It's a fallacy to ascribe more importance to a character just cause they happen to get attention right now right here.
It's not just the attention btw. It's the content that comes with that attention that matters
Hiyori hasn't been seen since 50+ chapters ago. So idk how she's getting comparative screen time in the current?
Tama has fulfilled her role with her taming the smile users, so it's expected for her presence to decrease going forward.
Yet, Yamato is still going strong. And that's alongside Strawhat fight chapter to boot.
Sorry, but I disagree completely. Yamato has been Mr. Exposition Guy, he hasn't been treated as a main character at all.
He's important to tie together some plot threads of this arc. He has been added for that, so he feels important. But he's not being treated as important beyond that. The way Yamato vs. Kaido is being handled right now should be a huge red flag for anyone expecting him to get depth.
You may argue that the focus right now is on wrapping the Tobi Roppo fights so Oda hasn't really gave it any real attention, but that off-panel DF reveal set up a pretty bad precedent.
We're just gonna have to agree to disagree. You have have your own thought on it, and I have mine.

And Yamato isn't being treated like some side character. Clearly, he's getting extra love.
