Why do some people not get the concept of matchups? The only reason the Strawhats are barely struggling to survive at all is because 3 of them have extremely, extremely favorable matchups against Big Mom's powers. Like, if it was literally any other group, even Zoro Sanji and Luffy, they'd be having much less success

@uniaka:
People say this is classic OP, but I don-t remember crocodile, Hody, CC, mr 1, doflamingo, arlong, vergo, Lucci, magellan doing something like this.
Or maybe it has been so long sicne then I forgot.
Vergo had a hamburger on his face. Magellan constantly had diarrhea from eating poison. CC was a joke most of the time. And yes, Oda didn't repeat this exact idea, but it's still very much in line with his writing style
-
RE: Chapter 883: Snack Time
Never know, I wonder if Oda would be inspired from that sort of Manga.
I mean last Jump's author comment from Oda was as follows
"If you're gonna stop taking on challenges, you might as well be dead. I'm currently challenging myself with little sister moe. Aren't little sisters great?" -
RE: Chapter 883: Snack Time
So given the comment Oda made in the previous jump about little sister moe, who else thinks Katakuri's secret could be inspired hy Himouto umaru chan

also implicit confirmation that konami turned down solid snake/big boss/venom snake lol
I've been suspecting that for ages. Snake would've been among the first third parties talked about as a veteran, the fact he wasn't one of the first dlc or in the base game should've been enough to kill hope for him

RE: Berserk
Because literally half the cast are children at this point and need time to come into their own? (counting Rickerts and co.) So the princess can become Queen? So that a reasonable amount of time can be devoted to Caska becoming sane again and getting back into fighting shape? So the world has time to adjust to its new horrible merged status quo?
The advent of a timeskip has been likely since Guts adopted his new family nd it became clear they weren't going to be one arc characters, and has been loooong coming.
Everyone in Gut's group is effectively immortal till the finale. We've already had the horror of the Eclipse, nothing is going to match that, so we're not going through that again. You can still do horrible things to them sure, but… the author has pulled back from the sheer horror awfulness over the years. He's matured past the pure grim shock value crap that makes you queezy to look at.
And Sepricio is awesome, what's your problem? I can understand the complaints about Puck and the kids (I don't agree but I understand), but Mr. Fast Sword?
I'm not sure we'll get a full on timeskip, since they said Elf Island time moves slower. So I think we'll get a sort of one, where only a year or two max passes for Guts and his group, but a decade or two passes outside so Rickert is now a full-grown badass, but Isidoro and Schierke are still teens

U should read Jaco the Galactic Patrolman and u will have an idea who Tights is.
I look forward seeing female Saiyans, since in U7 the female saiyans were weak(Gine), then in U6 what if its ruled by a Queen aka the Queen of the Saiyans?

I wonder who is the mysterous guy that is claimed to be Beerus strongest challenge?
Will it be Broly? Arale? Neko Majin? Bardock?
I want Queen Vegeta who is married to alt universe Goku. The two will also be incredibly lovey dovey around each other. Mostly just to see how Goku and Vegeta would react to such a thing

RE: My Hero Academia - Gomu Gomu no Gentle Fist
Ojiro could work as a general martial artist with tail attacks. His Quirk is simple and versatile enough to allow believable made up moves.
And this is only the 20 first chapters. 10 chapters later we get more stuff for Tokoyami, Sero (Tape guy) and some Class B kids like Monoma (Quirk copying) and Tetsutetsu (Steel form).
Aoyama is tricky because he only has a laser attack. No. 13 is somewhat similar in that he only has his black hole move. They're pretty much one-trick ponies.
In grand fighting game tradition, Tetsutetsu would have an identical moveset to Kirishima
-
RE: Dragonball Discussion
! plus a written test per Vegeta's suggestion (he doesn't want mindless monsters participating).
! Guess that's the end for Goku's participation, lol.! I'd say Buu is a much greater liability on that front

RE: 718: "Crossing the Earth - Giant Statue Pica's Surprise Manuever!"
The padding was inevitable as long as Toei was going to do 1 chapter per episode pacing, since it wasn't a chapter where too much happened. It worked for a weekly manga chapter, not so much for a 20+ minute anime episode

RE: 3 Mangapanda bootleggers arrested
First, scanlations do not ruin your one piece experience at all. You can pick the best scanlation teams and get comfy in your bed while reading the scans on your tablet.
source: I own both Japanese and French volumes and reading scans on my tablet has been a better experience.Secondly, fighting piracy is a lost battle. The sheer idea of fighting piracy with digital manga is silly. If there is no early scans from chineses or jump scans, the leak will come from the digital release. As I said, it's a lost battle.
To an extent, but you can at least stop them from releasing almost a week early if you aren't stupid

RE: Ushio & Tora - 2015 Anime
19
Holy shite at Hakumen no Mono. It's previous appearences didn't come even close to conveying how imposing and creepy that fiend is. Not even close, man.
That piercing gaze at the end, no wonder Ushio froze in place. Doesn't matter how many monsters he's slain or how desperately bloodlusted he is, ANYONE will be given a pause when that goddamn thing of all things stares at them like that. That is the quintessential 'NOPE' moment. All the other Yokai might as well be Care Bears next to that Eldritch Fox nonsense.
Ushio is afraid. Even Tora is afraid. Shame Speedwagon ain't here to be afraid.
Spookiest battle shounen monster ever.
Hakumen no Mono is such a fantastic villain. It's by no means unique or anything, but it's probably among the most well executed I've ever seen it's archetype done. The finale is going to be amazing animated

RE: Onepunch-Man (ONE's original webcomic)
Considering that rankings in the Hero Association are tied to how familiar people are with a given hero as well as their strength, my guess is that Blast was a hero well before the Association even existed and is still the first person most people think of when they think of the word Hero. Sure, younger people might come up with King first and fangirls would say Handsomely Masked Sweet Mask but across all generations, it's Blast. So he's somebody that is universally recognized as being a hero even if he doesn't do all that much these days because he prefers to work alone and at his own pace.
So while Saitama directly inspired the creation of an organization for heroes, Blast was The Original Hero who inspired people to become heroes in the first place. Plus I still think the naming scheme means that he, Bang, and Bomb are all related; if Blast was the person who taught them, that'd explain a lot.
BUt how can that be when nobody seems to even know what he looks like at all?
-
RE: Onepunch-Man (ONE's original webcomic)
SO just decided to read the one version, and am I the only one who thinks Blast might not actually exist, or might be a placeholder spot for the hero that was the inspiration for the organization (Saitama, but they don't realize that)

RE: My Hero Academia - Gomu Gomu no Gentle Fist
I hope they go from the beginning to chapter 57. It'd be a great cliffhanger, and chapter 58 starts at a good pickup point for a following season with the students all coming back from the workplace experience, and the training rescue race as a nice action sequence to reintroduce the characters

RE: The Nintendo Thread
Well, it's pretty hard to say no to miyamoto, I'll give you that. I feel like it wasn't out of place to ask, and they reached a valid compromise, and he must have let his guard down for things like Madworld and Bayoneta get released in the wii and wiiu.
I don't think people understand how brainstorming works either. You throw out any idea, even if you don't personally think it's good, because that gets the ball rolling and gets people thinking. It was probably an idea he came up with off the top of his head in a few seconds during a meeting with Rare. I doubt he ever actually intended or expected what he proposed initially to actually happens
-
RE: The Nintendo Thread
I think many of Miyamoto's problems can be summed up by the recent revelation that he wanted Goldeneye to end with Bond shaking his villain's hands.
That idea is so misunderstood. What Miyamoto wanted was to frame it as a movie and not just senseless killing, and that was one idea that he threw out there in the brainstorming process as an example of what he meant. And they ended up following along with what Miyamoto actually wanted with the cast role in the credits

RE: Food Wars - It's In the Trash
Actually there was never a confirmed "voting against" Azami. Remember he apparently never approached Isshiki and didn't go to Erina until he already had 6 of the Elite 10 on his side.
We don't know that Isshiki wasn't approached, he just refused to answer. Which could easily be because he knew Azami's plans included taking down Polar Star

RE: My Hero Academia - Gomu Gomu no Gentle Fist
@CCC:
Oh cool. Reason to hope, then ;)
They have worked with Pierrot in the past though, since according to ANN they helped distribute some of the naruto and bleach movies. But that said, of tv anime, the recent examples are psycho-pass, Haikyuu, Akame ga Kill, and Blood Blockade Battlefront
-
RE: My Hero Academia - Gomu Gomu no Gentle Fist
@CCC:
Yeah, no, that's exactly what I'm saying. All the big battle shonen from WSJ seem to go to Toei or Pierrot and have hundreds of eps.
Are we thinking that the Japanese powers-that-be have looked at MHA and seen something more artsy, deserving of subtler, bigger-budget-per-ep, non-filler-filled treatment? Why would they?Another studio might've given out a better bid. And based on the website registration, it seems like TOHO group will be the distributor, and none of their tv anime have been long ongoing series. I don't think they've ever worked with toei or pierrot for a tv anime either.
-
RE: My Hero Academia - Gomu Gomu no Gentle Fist
@CCC:
When was the last time one of WSJ's globally popular non-sports-but-possibly-children's-card-games battle shonen (DBZ, OP, Naruto, Bleach, Toriko, Yu-gi-oh, etc.) got anything other than a continuous, long-running, non-seasonal anime with hundreds of episodes?
Genuinely curious if it ever happens, and why people think MHA would be different. Is it because of the likely studio(s)?The last two battle series to get an anime were world trigger and Toriko (and the new hunter x hunter, but I think that's obviously a special case). Both of those were done by toei though, and most studios seem to have moved away from that model

RE: General Gundam Thread
It could go either way. I was initially in the griffith camp, but I'm starting to think he'll go the kamina route and die after all, since he does seem at least a little pained by the way Mika blindly follows him, even if he'll make use of it. But yeah, he'll definitely either die the hero, or live long enough to become the villain
-
RE: Animation Fall 2015
^Comet Lucifer is cute, the mech is decent, it's more or less the Gargantia of the season.
Iron Blood Orphans is definitely the mech show of the season, no, of the year so far.
I just watched episode 2 of both Gundam and OPM, and both were godly.
I've been disillusioned with new Gundams for a decade, so I'm so glad to see such enjoyable series.Yeah, it's great. I mean granted it could still go to shit, but so far so good. And yeah, it's nice to finally have a good new gundam (Besides build fighters anyways)
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Same here man, same here.
Second episode was even better than the first. The show seems so, so solid all around. I'm actually rooting for these child protagonists who think adults are doo-doo heads because it's actually warranted, I love the more hard sci-fi vibes and the gritty tone, I actually DON'T want to see the protag get punched in the face ( a rarity), the plot isn't the same old tired shit in a newer wrapper and the sakuga's on point.
This all too good to be true. I'm still expecting it to go bad SOMEWHERE almost as much as I expect Orga to go all Griffith on Mikazuki's ass. But for all of my exaggerated skepticism, I'm loving IBO.
Oh and this show is REALLY doing all Aldnoah tried to do but doing it incomparably better. It's almost as if the folks at Sunrise heard that "Aniplex's Gundamkiller" talk that was going around and decided to teach the upstarts their place.
He's either going to go Griffith or go Kamina. At this point, I'm actually thinking Kamina dieing route is more likely, since he seems a bit sad whenever Mikazuki blindly follows his orders without thinking for himself. Like, he'll use that fact, but he doesn't seem completely happy about it

RE: Theories That Don't Deserve Their Own Thread v.2
http://www.mangastream.to/one-piece-chapter-788-page-8.html
If that is the case, I would expect Sabo to rely on something more than rumors.fair point and I didn't remember that. Perhaps he's only reported directly to Dragon then? Or perhaps Sabo still doesn't trust him if the theory is true. Or it could be Oda's oversight, since those do happen.
-
RE: Chapter 803: Climbing the elephant
@S.C.:
That's quite unlikely. Dragon doesn't seem to concern himself with engaging the world of pirates and is a straight-forward kind of guy. If he knew Burgess was on Baltigo, it would be far more likely he would have just killed him then have to have a un-needed battle with Blackbeard.
i don't see why Dragon wouldn't be concerned with one of the world's most powerful groups. And wanting Intel doesn't mean he intends to actually fight him
-
RE: Theories That Don't Deserve Their Own Thread v.2
the revolutionaries shouldn't have any interest in going against a yonkou
as I said, BB is a super unstable factor, and given his DF hunt, he's definitely a threat to them. We've seen in Dressrpsa that the WG isn't their only enemy. The revo want to replace the wg, so I don't see why they wouldn't take interest in the yonkou. And in general, why wouldn't an organization like them want to keep track of one of the strongest powers in the world
-
RE: Theories That Don't Deserve Their Own Thread v.2
shared this in the chapter thread, but want to share it here as well
What if Aokiji is actually working for the revolutionaries, and his job with the BB pirates is an undercover job for them. Thus he'll show up at the leader meeting, and Burgess will learn of his betrayal since he'll probably spy in on it. I think Aokiji joining the revolutionaries after defecting from the marines makes a lot of sense, BB is an incredibly unstable element and his DF hunt is definitely a threat to the revo army, so I could see them wanting to keep tabs on him, but the main downside I can see is that it feels like we haven't seen enough of Aokiji with BB for them to have a twist like that yet -
RE: Chapter 803: Climbing the elephant
i only said one on the level of sabo,ivankov and dragon..I'm sure too tht there are more than one left..just not as powerful (just like the blackbeard commanders are not all equally strong)
I'm sure we'll get a few leaders of the same rank. And I like the idea I presented a few posts ago that Aokiji is actually a revolutionary now, and was allying with BB as part of an undercover mission
-
RE: Chapter 803: Climbing the elephant
well,if we have to go by the page with the main actors..the revolutionaries have another guy at the level of sabo and ivankov…but probably there are many other minor guys..and I'm sure they are wacky ones if we have to take iva-san as an example
I'm pretty sure there's more than just one unknown leader.
-
RE: My Hero Academia - Gomu Gomu no Gentle Fist
@Daz:
#2 is the least surprising thing ever
I mean, I can see what you mean(Good looking rival, awesome powers), but I like Todoroki a lot, so I don't really care
-
RE: Chapter 803: Climbing the elephant
So just a thought I had, but what if Aokiji was actually a revolutionary and he was allying with BB as part of an undercover mission (If his relationship with the revolutionaries was kept a secret, which it would have to be, he'd be the eprfect choice having the strength and reputation to get BB interested, but not being associated with the revolutionaries). Thus, when the revo leader meeting starts, Aokiji shows up and Burgess who is spying on the meeting finds him and discovers his real intent. Could be an interesting direction for the BB vs Aokiji fight, and the only thing that seems off is that I feel like we'd see more of Aokiji doing stuff or communicating with the BB pirates before such a reveal
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Zoro, Sanji and Luffy couldn't sense Caribou before he struck. And he was just outside of the palace.
Unless you are Enel, it's not a constantly active radar, most people seem to react to flares or bursts of energy.
Plus experts likely have ways of masking their presence.

RE: Toriko III: It's Over!!
@Myu:
Isn't Toriko doing fine? Are there enough reason to think there is editorial side to all this?
That's why I'm confused. If this was just Shima getting tired of the series and wanting to end soon, it seems the switch during the blue grill stuff was way too sudden. He could just as easily have rushed through that stuff first if that was his intention. The way it's going it feels like stuff is being skipped because the amount of chapters left is already decided
-
RE: Toriko III: It's Over!!
It's pretty clear they're trying to wrap up the entire series a lot sooner than planned. I'm guessing it's an editorial mandate as well, given the way blue grill was going on before. It just seems odd since Toriko isn't doing that poorly
-
RE: Toriko III: It's Over!!
I joked a while ago when we cut away from the another stuff that it felt like they skipped like 10-20 chapters. And now I'm pretty sure that joke was actually true. WTF Shimabukuro

RE: Food Wars - It's In the Trash
Someone knowledgeable about where to look up how well shows do to gauge if a new season is feasible?
I mean it feels like from the vibes I'm getting that this show has been reasonably popular so a S2 should be in the cards?Also imagine if S2 airs right up with Attack on Titan S2 next year that would be a sick season.
From what I've heard, manga sales have gone up quite a bit due to the anime, but the anime's dvd and bluray sales have been a bit low
-
RE: Food Wars - It's In the Trash
They left Mimisaka out of the final episode of the anime. Makes me worry we might not get a second season D:
-
RE: General Persona Thread
I've read that one but I don't really now how they've concluded Morgana and Yusuke since their opening scenes with their eyes color change are missing.
I mean if you're generous you could say Morgana has a scene where her outer iris looks kind of orange making her gluttony.
But really beyond Anne, Ryuji and MC nothing is clearly shown.
A version of the opening with the new bits cut in for comparison. In the one scene where you can somewhat make out Yusuke's eyes they're more greyish. But in general I could see that fitting too depends really on what the full opening looks like.The idea is that Morgana's eyes are light blue, which corresponds to sloth (plus, cat) and I heard it suggested that purple appeared in correspondence with 5th guy (who also seems to go to an elite school or something)
-
RE: General Persona Thread
If we go by glove color
Mc = wrath,
Ryuji = greed,
Anne = vanity/pride,
Morgana = lust.Shadows are in the game. There seems to be a kind of mask ripping mechanic that reveals the demons(you could see it the best in pv2).
There is at least another female party member confirmed(pv3 at the very beginning if you listen closely you can hear her voice, it's easy to write it off as Anne's voice but it's different).Personally I feel like 7 is somewhat an odd number to have for an RPG where you have a max active party of 4. Feels like 8 is somewhat more suitable.
Maybe either Cavum/Irritum could be related to the main antagonist.The theory I've heard uses eye color when using persona, and has
MC-Wrath
Ryuji-Greed
Anne-Envy
Morgana-Sloth
and
5th guy-Pride -

I need a shovel gundam.There was a vote amongst backer, and the other two playable boss campaigns are king knight and specter knight. And based on the ending of plague of shadows, I think I know who is probably next
