Oh gosh, I'm sorry for starting such an argument! To clarify, I didn't get into One Piece until just after the time-skip in the manga, so I already knew that all the current Straw Hats were because a friend of mine spoiled it for me. I wasn't particularly critical of Robin joining because I already knew that she was guaranteed to get more development later. I'll admit that I got into One Piece in my early teens, at the peak of my "LOL SO RANDOM!! xDD" phase, so most of the characters that appealed to me at that time were the ones who were obviously quirky, or could be interpreted as such. Also, I had to read it really fast in order to catch up so it's likely that I didn't pick up on a lot of nuances. Perhaps if I took some time to re-read it, I would like Jinbe better, haha.
Anyways, I'm sorry if I sounded harsh. I was mostly annoyed with the people who were insisting that Momo join the crew and I meant what I said in a "I was already annoyed with Jinbe for these reasons and Momo is an even more unsuitable crewmate than he is" way. I can't remember if it was in this thread or another one, but I said that I didn't hate Jinbe and I hope that, like Robin, Oda will work some magic on him. Of course, I know my opinion (or that of any other fan) has no effect on what Oda does. Oda isn't the type of guy who panders to the fans and he almost certainly has the entire story planned out already. That doesn't really change how I or any other fan feels about where the story is heading at this moment, though, and as long as we remain civil, I don't think there is any issue with expressing one's opinion on it.
