So have any of you guys seen the new movie trailer? I just saw it today and it looks sooooooo hype!
Anyone have confirmation if this is legit or not? Looks pretty fake to me.

Does it really matter? The openings are distinct enough.
Since the pacing of the anime is really sluggish and it takes 6 minutes for an episode to start, the opening is extremely important. You want it to be original enough to please the returning viewers, while at the same time be interesting enough to grab the new viewers.
So I get what you're saying but don't really see what you think could be drastically different. I am curious to hear your thoughts though.
Granted, I'm no director or anything, but if I had to give some ideas for the non-canon footage for the openings, this is what I think would be cool/better:
1. Short glances at current/past islands.
Just imagine how cool would it be to have aerial views of some of the old islands, especially some of the more aesthetically pleasing ones like Water 7, Skypeia and Enies Lobby in HD. Most of the openings use sedating music and visuals, so this idea would really fit in. And no, I don't consider Japan a canon Island to the One Piece universe.
2. Dressrosa costumes
I know the canon visuals in the opening (obviously) are in the Dressrosa costumes, but the rest of the opening uses old costumes from like 5 years ago. I don't know why they continue to animate openings with outdated attire that the Strawhats likely will never canonly wear again, especially if the whole purpose of the opening is to attract a new audience.
3. Group photo of Strawhats as kids, then morph to pre-timeskip designs, then morph into post-timeskip designs
I've always liked this idea, and I'm not sure why it hasn't been implemented yet. It works out so well because all the crew have had flashbacks to when they were kids (in the case of Brook, having flesh), then they also all change post-timeskip.
Only reason why I can think of why it wouldn't be done is because of Brook losing his flesh. Might be a bit too morbid for One Piece…
4. Colour Spreads
Oda has made some really beautiful colour spreads over the years that would be amazing if brought to life in an opening. Oda has made wayyyy better "group photos" of the Strawhats than any of the ugly ones in the last 4 Openings.
5. More focused theme and direction
How many characters were thrown at us randomly in the newest opening? Someone should count, because it felt like over a hundred. Too many characters and not enough focus. Opening 13 was an Ace tribute theme, and Opening 14 was a 3d2y theme. But the last 4 openings have been a bunch of scenes thrown together without theme or direction.
I expected more of a Sabo theme out of Hard Knock Days, but ironically enough they gave Luffy more flare with fire in the opening than Sabo and Ace.
I know it doesn't take a genius to notice all of the openings are extremely similar and follow formulas and themes, but some things seem…too similar…
I took a screen-shot of scenes from Openings 15, 16, and 18. Not only are the postures very similar (especially 16 and 18), but the character order is the same.
I drew a yellow line to separate the characters. On the left side is Brook, Zoro, Usopp, Luffy, Robin. The right side is Sanji, Nami, Chopper, Franky (Franky shifts center in 16).
Luffy uncovering his face with his strawhat is badass, but does it have to be copied in every opening?
Opening 17 literally used a zoomed scene from 15.
Granted, this is just a few examples, but I could post many examples of how the openings are extremely unoriginal and full of rehashed scenes, but I think I made my point enough.
Why does Toei resort to copying itself over and over again? One Piece is such a vast world, but Toei only shows us the same scenes in the openings…
Totally necessary. For those who read the manga, upcoming events will make no sense unless it's established via animation how the hell this guy dashes around on one leg.
Not sure if you are talking about the same thing as I am.
As you can see, they animate him walking with double footstep noises.
It's clearly an error that isn't necessary.
Minor complaints:
In the filler scene Barto just whipped his dick out, and we get no reaction of disgust from Robin or Rebecca?
Luffy looks very Jewish here. Since when has his nose been bigger than his eyes, ears, and mouth?
They totally dropped the ball with Kyros walking normally instead of skipping. Heck, they even added double footsteps to it. How did this bad scene even make it in the episode?
I don't know as much as you guys on the directors of One Piece, but who ever was in charge of this episode did a great job!
The animation for Luffy vs Fodder at the beginning was well choreographed, and the characters were really drawn extraordinary well throughout the episode. I Zoro made some cool faces, and Luffy looked really nice when he was talking on the Den Den Mushi. The cliffhanger really flowed nicely with the first ten minutes of the episode when Luffy went into the cave, then continuing off that scene again for the cliffhanger with Doffy.
I am getting really tired of hearing "OH YOURE SO HARD BOILED" every episode though. Toei really has drove that gag into the ground.
The art in the next episode looked just as good as today's, so I'm happy!
Huh? I thought he wasn't nearby. Which is why he was upset.
Ace's public execution was in the newspapers well before it happened, I personally believe the timeframe between the announcement of the execution and the war was long enough for him to make it there if he truly had to.
I have no idea why Wake Up! is so disliked here. I like it. Sure it got a bit boring/annoying after such a long time, but to be honest I think that OP have a lot of weaker openings. Crazy Rainbow for example.
This is just my opinoin, but I hate it, and my reasons are:
~Visuals in the opening have nothing to do with anything
~Overused and cliche "Strawhats having fun on their ship" theme
~Irrelevant, time wasting, Black Beard scene
~Happy cheery song, when every Dressrosa episode is anything but happy and cheery
~Song is just bad
What happened in this episode? Running, sliding, and–--staring----the good old Dragon Ball Z kind of staring. The amount of garbage padding is insane. Its bad enough that over 6 minutes of 23 minutes was the opening, but when we finally get to the content of the episode, its almost entirely padding.
I think im going to take a break from the anime weekly for now. Its just too bad...
