I don't post very often but god damn, I love Rock Lee. I'd read this every week.
I dropped out of Naruto well, when it ended. Did I miss any cool Lee stuff in Shippuden? I'm guessing no.
Gonna go with Coby and Garp.
Pretty much any of the "rebel marines".
Hell, I wouldn't mind a couple dozen marine-centric chapters following the war.
I'm sure this is nothing new - and waaay too obvious so Oda won't do it but…
When I read Sanji's cover story I imagined a scenario where he has to confront a female fighter. He'd curse his luck and unleash his "okama way".
Oda would find some way to make it awesome and funny just like he did with Bon Clay.
Maybe someone would ask him if he'd picked up any new tricks while he was away and he'd violently tell them he doesn't need any shitty tricks!
Of course, Zoro observes the okama transformation and is deeply disturbed by it- but keeps Sanji's secret.
Yeah.
Gonna go with Robin on this one.
Even with half his face gone Whitebeard is splitting entire islands in two. So awesome.
All that aside, I'm finally feeling like the new age and with it, the second half of One Piece is here. I feel like the story could go some exciting new directions for a long time to come. Very exciting.
Chapter 10 was excellent. This book is like a must-read for me now. It's actually got me wanting to write more myself which is probably what the author intended.
I just finished reading the four latest chapters.
Man, this book has jumped up a notch. This story needed a villain so bad and it looks like we've got a good one.
Can't wait to read more.
I just got back from Japan and I managed to see the movie at the Prince Cinema in Shinagawa. Maybe it was Shinagawa. My memory is a little fuzzy, we went all over the place.
In a nutshell I thought the movie was pretty damn good. Probably a head above most Japanese cinema I've seen but when you consider the strength of the source material it would be hard to mess this movie up. There are moments that are positively awesome. They were really faithful to the manga even though there were some necessary deviations from the plot for running time's sake. I loved how they handled the beginning and ending sequences of the movie.
I was impressed by the casting. Everyone looked and acted the part - although personally, Kenji wasn't as goofy as I wanted. My only real gripe is the casting of comedian Ishizuka Hidehiko as Maruo. His presence took me out of the movie a bit (they should have grabbed an unknown) because even with my limited exposure to Japanese celebs I've been seeing this guy all over for years.
They squeezed a lot into the two and a half hour running time. I have to give them some slack here because I haven't foggiest idea how anyone could cram the first third of the story into one movie. My friend who had never read the manga but knows much, much more Japanese was completely lost. I only knew what was happening because I read the manga since my Japanese is pretty much nonexistant.
Anxious to see it subbed. Definitely recommend to fans of the manga and folks who are into stuff like LOST and Fringe should appreciate it as well.
No one uttered a peep during the movie which was refreshing and disturbing at the same time. Did anyone other than me enjoy it? Maybe I'm used to rowdy American theaters.
