@kouch_lee:
It's true fighrs have become shorter and more reliant on attacks that end the fight at once (not one shots, since fights like Kyros vs Diamante or Hajrudin vs Machvise weren't one shots and both opponents ended up almost equally injured in both cases, but one single attack seemed to do 100% of the damage), and I too long for the great coreographies that Oda still has in him to do in short doses (Smoker vs Vergo, Law vs Doffy)…
... But I'm surprisingly satisfied with what we got, specially during the executive fights. Some got the short end of the stick, some gave us pretty respectable fights (Gladius, Pica, Diamante, Lao G). So, yeah, not saying this is what I definitely want from now on, but I enjoyed it.
Remove Diamante from the list and we have the only 3 decent fights in the arc along with Law vs Flamingo.
Diamante was the biggest disappointment this arc. Had so much hopes for him. But all he does is laugh at all the advantages he has over Kyros, freak out at the Nakama power, and then get knocked out cold. What a champion of the coliseum. More like the toilet cleaner. His trump card was so lame as well. Iron pieces falling from the sky. Sooo scary. Gladius was wayy more impressive and he wasn't a seat.
And Trebol a shit. The rest of the fights were also a shit.
Luffy vs Flamingo wasn't bad it just didn't live up to the hype. It didn't have as much quick paced frenetic give and take that Luffy vs Lucci had. It was Doffy beating the shit out of Luffy for a chapter, then Luffy beating the shit out of Doffy for a chapter, than back to Doffy beating the shit out of Luffy, and then getting oneshotted after Luffy activated G4 again.
But Doffy's style and powers are best of any character so far. Oda has shown snippets of brilliance so the magic isn't lost, but too few and far between. This fight had potential to be GOAT. Ended up merely average. And because of its potential the disappointment is exponentially greater.
