Google translator is really dumb but I'm glad for that I still laugh and hear Arlong's laugh resonating in my mind every time I look at the picture xD

"大ピンチ" means "Big pinch" not "deep shit"… Google translator uses other people translations.

And "Fishmen" is "魚人/Gyojin" in Japanese. Just so you know..

And that's correct (the Kanji).
But I got "deep shit" when I typed in "big pinch" on Google Translate.

Haha I know "Dai pinchi" is like "big trouble" and though its very inappropriate it could be translated to "deep shit" couldn't it ? I mean it does mean big trouble in a terrible choice of words.

Thanks for the letting me know that, always confused between fishman "gyojin" and giant "kyojin" and when fishman giants appeared my mind just erupted

As for finding dai pinchi from fishmen on the translator you have to click over the word 魚人 for more options

Oh and if you try using google translator yourself, when you type in fishmen click over the japanese word to look for dai pinchi

I'm not an expert on Japanese, and not fluent, but I don't think these quite work. The first one, though nakama can translate in English to circle of friends, the term circle of friends isn't really a term that's used in Japanese. So unless the SH are translating an English phrase involving a circle into Japanese, then I doubt they'd end up at "nakama." Seems like a stretch.

Then with going from juuroku to tsuyoku the issue is that they don't really sound all the much alike. ju and tsu are not that closely of related characters, nor are yo and ro. But the bigger issue is that they're not the same number of syllables. In Japanese, that second u in the juu is pronounced and considered it's own syllable (for example, if you were writing a haiku, juu would count as two syllables). Also, tsuyoi is the adjective and main word for strong. Changing the i to ku makes it an adverb. Most likely, you heard it as part of "tsusyoku naru" (become strong), which makes sense with what you are saying. But the thing about that is that form of the word would only be used as a part of a phrase. By itself, it would only be tsuyoi. It'd be like expecting someone to get to the word "strongly" in English – it just wouldn't be one's first instinct. So it just seems like too far of a stretch to expect the SHs to get from juuroku to tsuyoku.

But I do think you made a really good effort, and admire that you assumed that the message most like is in Japanese, which most people seem to be ignoring (the 2 Year crowds, for example).

Honestly I'm not excited about the time skip idea for the same reasons as I survived the buster call. I'd like to think that Luffy will go after them himself but then again Iva-chan did offer sanji a boat if he beat the… the... "Trying-to-cook-while-a-bunch-of-creepy-transvestites-try-to-dress-him-in-women's-clothing-challenge". But thanks for the compliment I just wanted to put a little more thought into it than simply looking at the tatoo =/

I have no idea whether your theory is true or not given that my Japanese vocabulary is highly limited, but if the translations / puns are true then this would make perfect sense.

Not only is the message itself bang on target but the sneaky way its delivered makes it fit perfectly into why only the crew would understand. The multi layered approach to a simple message would make sense since its Ray who came up with it anyway.

I think most people on this forum have been wondering if the message was hidden in words and gestures but instead of looking at the whole picture people have been focusing on single aspects like the tatoo.

Heck in the end, it might be that the tattoo WAS the only important part, but till then your theory is the best explanation so far.

Well this whole tatoo ordeal is kind of a problem… It might make more sense if you think about it when they're saying "something Luffy wouldn't do" but I still think a tatoo shouldn't be a big deal, he could be doing the same thing Ace did in his and Sabo's honor... but eh if it is "3D2Y" I was completely wrong and I hope its not a permanent tatoo :/

Edit: Wait, the WG took the 16 bell rings as a declaration of war, (Yes I know about that whole old year/new year celebration but the point here is WG took that as a declaration of war) that is defenetly something Luffy wouldn't do: Start a war without a reason. Ray must of known about this and if the whole pun idea is correct it would make the number 16 is just an inconvenient coincidence... My brain is viciously spinning now.. NEED. ANSWER. WAITING. Trying to figure out this message has been such a fun experience after reading 15 pages of these forums I decided to make my own account to give an opinion ^^.

And yes I know no one gives a crap about that ^

I got a theory on his message though I might need a little help from someone who can speak jap fluently to make more sense out of it.

Now first of all the message had to be delivered from a newspaper through their actions and this points towards a possible play with words.

The message would have to be mix between his actions and a play of words.

"ring" or "circle", "16", "Flower bouquet" and "Silent prayer" maybe just "prayer"

Looking up some of these words on a dictionary I came out with

"Nakama juuroku ikebana shizukana inori"

I found out that circle can actually be translated to Nakama as in "A circle of friends".
Juuroku is 16, tsuyoku means stronger (I know tsuyoi means strong not sure what difference the "ku" makes but i heard luffy saying tsuyoku when he was referring to becoming stronger) this would be a perfect example of playing with words.

As for the flowers and prayer I'm thinking its more of a symbolic way of saying he's got over his emotional state after Ace's death. There might be a hidden play with words on there as well but I couldn't find anything with my limited japanese knowledge.

So to me, If I was reading the paper like any of his nakama, the message would be:

"I am not alone, I currently have Rayleigh and Jimbei with me." Because they just freaking busted back into Marine HQ and stole a ship

"I will sail after you my friends" the ring around HQ (im really not sure about this part)

"Meanwhile I will be getting stronger" This would be when he rushes to the bell alone and rings it 16 times for a clever play with words. The reason only his crew would understand is because they understand very well how their captain felt when kuma tossed everyone off SA. Not just that it means something completely different WG and other pirates… Or maybe I'm just overthinking all this o.o

"Don't worry about me I got over Ace's death" I would assume this has something to do with the bouquet and quiet prayer those 2 last actions have more possibilities imo I just couldn't think of anything myself :/

As for the tatoo... it would be just dumb to have a written message when you're doing your best to send out a hidden message only those close of you would understand might as well just write down everything on a piece of paper and let them take a picture of it :/
