All speculation over what this is, is welcome here.
Obviously there's the obvious, hangar type thing but i doubt it's just that.

My speculation is its a area inside the ship in which you train in. Like a Gym, but more advance.

A…hyperbolic time chambe?
Anyway, I think it's going to be some system that they're going to use very soon, like in merman island. Wasn't it a solar dock system, or was that reworded?

 @ DB reference.
solar turned out to be a miss pronunciation.
I think it might be a dock for the new ship's dingy, maybe a small submarine or something similar. Maybe Franky invented the first One Piece flying machine thingy. Not anythnin terribly advanced, but a small helicopeterish thing.
It'll be a shrine where people can worship Sanji and absorb his awesome power
fake Ah-nuld accent
A plaaace to lahck up fahnboyeez foah evah and evah, ezpeshooly the wahns whoo saihd thaht Kahku will jo-een the Strahh Hahts.
It's probably a side-docking mechanism used similar to how marines exit onto land and directly into battle. Remember those Pontoon boats in World War 2? The side or front opened into a ramp and allowed them to depart immediately from the boat.
My guess is that that franky created a ramp on the side of the ship that allow for Cargo, supplies, people, etc. to easily enter and exit the ship.
I''m glad there's a thread on this, because I was beginning to woonder what it was as well, It may have to do with the rocket booster looking type thing in the back, But actually I think it willl have to do something with weaponry, or an attack.
:] I can't wait ot see it :]
Sounds like some kind of dropship thing. Like maybe they land on the beach and instead of jumping off the boat they run out a bigass hangar door.
Lame, huh?

No so much lame, and it is possible. B:
Since Franky built the ship, it probably has some sort of creative weapons/defense system. Maybe even enough to take down Sea Kings, like the Battle Frankies.
Most likely its an automated defense system that guards the ship while the crew is away.

cough maxim cough

i was thinking something along the lines of this too
Not the slightest idea what it could be but somehow I like Zephos´ and IT´S A LION´s ideas.
excuse me, may i ask? it's soldier dock system or solar dock system…...rather confuse here
Two different things.
I'm sure it's just a defense system with a crap ton of fire power. I mean, Franky did build ships that could kill Sea Kings. Plus since the Straw Hats don't have access to a bunch of sea stone like the marines do, they'll need something to fend off all those insanely massive fishies.
By the way, did anyone else think it took surprisingly little time for the water 7 shipwrights to build the new ship? I mean, ok, I understand it's a manga and the strawahts couldn't be stuck there for a long time, AND that the characters have super-human strength and abilities…. but it should have taken more than a week to build. Just something that bothered me.
I wonder what the ship will be named?

Ships could be made in 1 0r 2 days in our world years ago.

The king of beasts.

Galley-La is modeled after the Harland and Wolffe Shipyards in Belfast, Ireland, the same ones that made the Titanic. Two massive cranes, the Samson and the Goliath are used to build ships.
The Titanic is 100 times as large as the KoB and it was made in a few months. So it doesn't surprise me that 4 superhuman men made the KoB in mere days.
Isn't it obvious? Oda made an agreement with Konami's series "Boktai"! Instead of a mermaid as the next crewmate, it'll be the game's star, Django! Can you say, "Taiyou!"?
Oh wait, soldier dock system… I'm guessing it's an area for training on docks. Or it's a trap for armymen to come in and get crushed... Maybe not that last one.
The king of beasts.
As already mentioned in a couple of other threads, that is not the name of the new ship. That´s the theme. The name is yet to be revealed.
Franky did said it's one of the best stuff he build on The King of Beast…... so, the Soldier(?) dock system might not just be a simple ramp on the side of the ship that allow for Cargo, supplies, people, etc. to easily enter and exit the ship.
Maybe it's a mode shift system......
the ship can changed into battle mode or normal mode...... and probably if Franky integrate himself with the ship, Super mode... or something like that....
soldier dock. Maybe it's a way to invade other ships. Dock themselves into other warships.
soldier dock. Maybe it's a way to invade other ships. Dock themselves into other warships.
like i said before, if it is for that purpose, then Franky's design isn't as great as he is proud about…. I don't think it's just that simple....
Hmm, someone on the spoiler thread mentioned it might be a way to make the ship terrestrial and cross the Red Line.
If the ship ends up becoming the next official member, and not Franky, then it’s most likely an AI automated ship repair and maintenance system.
ソルジャー (soru jaa) could be read as soldier, but then I’d have trouble reconciling that with the fact that Franky, who is as anti-Gov’t as they come, used a term that is more commonly associated with Gov’t dogs in the naming of his personal invention. Soru jaa could also be read as soul jar, which, as far as naming goes, makes more sense. Historically, soul jars are what the ancient Egyptians and other ancients used to trap and contain souls. So soul jar could be a term the ancients of One Piece used in referring to an artificial intelligence unit, which the ancients might have seen as containing a soul, and which would have been built into the shape of a jar. Presumably, if Franky has the technical know-how to create such a device, it would have come from his readings of the plans for the ancient weapon Pluton, and not from anywhere else in the known world where such technology most likely does not exist. Therefore, it wouldn’t be that out of place for Franky to use arcane and ancient terminology like soul jar to describe a futuristic concept like AI. Then again soul jar could be referring to something less high-tech than AI, and something more mystic like the actual containment of souls inside a jar like object. The ancients of One Piece had the ability to contain ‘devils’ inside fruits after all so who knows?
The ドック (dock) in ドックシステム (dock system) could be in reference to dry dock the same way the ドック (dock) in 人間ドック (ningen dock or human dock – a Japanese term used to describe the medical examinations of middle-aged or older adults. http://www.jekai.org/entries/aa/00/nn/aa00nn10.htm) refers to dry dock. Dry docks are used in real life, and notably in science fiction to repair and maintain ships.
I would think it would be something that doesnt require any knowledge of Egyptian history and the use of canopic jars/sarcophaguses….
I think the ship invasion docking contraption is the most plausible judging by the name "soldier dock," something that would dock the new ship with an enemy ship.... But yeah that's kind of useless for the Strawhats so I don't know about that. The only that would work is maybe if it's an offesive way to board an enemy ship, like launching some kind of projectile at enemy ships to make a hole in their ship and entering the ship through the hole.
Automated defensed system seems kind of obvious; they would probably have it but I dont think it's THE "soldier docking system" that everyone is talking about. At least I think the new ship definitely has a defense/security mechanism
i still say it's a normal mode and battle mode shifting system….... it turns into a battle ship when faced with enemies!
Maybe it's something like this?
Basically, replace the thing between the alignment cones with the new ship.
i still say it's a normal mode and battle mode shifting system….... it turns into a battle ship when faced with enemies!
I actually really like that idea…. When I first saw the ship I thought it was still too round to be a brig (which has a much longer, sleeker, modern-day sail boat look). So I thought wouldn't it be cool if it can sort of transform, go into "battle mode" or something that would change the shape of the ship.
I dont think it'd be something simple looking at the context it was mentioned in.. im betting on something to cross the red line
People, you're putting up weird guesses.
Franky said Luffy's gonna love it. It's not gonna be anything that you can use only one time [crossing the redling, ie: post above], or that you use for battles or docking. Those aren't made for fun.
A sample: Let's say, a disco [sp?] room [just tossing stuff]. Things like that. And I don't think it's connected to the name too much, dunno why.
I'm assuming it is used by that circus-like thing at the end of the ship. The one that looks like the sighting room on top of the ship.
I actually like the idea of a "battle mode."
Ships could be made in 1 0r 2 days in our world years ago.
Can you perhaps give some reference for this outragous claim? To all what I know about ships and what common sense tells me, this is just ridiculous (unless you are talking about some kind of raft or the assembly of pre-manufactured kits - but that would be quite out of context, wouldn´t it?).
Yeah I have to agree. We can't even build a ship in 2 days in our modern age.
@Rai:

Hm, if Luffy is gonna love it it must have some connection to eating/partying
Yeah I have to agree. We can't even build a ship in 2 days in our modern age.
Check wikipedia. A battle ship was made in 2 days in the WW2 time.
About the battle mode idea:
A poweraingers system would kickass.
Imagine every SH has his own part and together is a huge robot, they can easily beat WB+BB+Shanks+All their crews!
Yeah I have to agree. We can't even build a ship in 2 days in our modern age.
Actually, in WWII, they built one of these (see pic below) in 4 and 1/2 days. I know because i saw it in the History channel, a while ago.
From Wikipedia:
Early on, each ship took about 230 days to build (Patrick Henry took 244 days), but the average eventually dropped to 42 days. The record was set by Robert E. Peary, which was launched 4 days and 15 1/2 hours after the keel was laid, although this publicity stunt was not repeated. The ships were made assembly-line style, from prefabricated sections. In 1943, three new Liberty ships were being completed every day.
Taken from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberty_ship
Since Franky calls his invention the Soldier Dock System the best part of the ship I'm going to guess that it is significant to his own desire for the ship. Since Franky was traumatized by Spandam using his own ships against the people he loved, I'm thinking that the Soldier Dock System somehow protects the ship from unauthorized access. A system that will not allow history to repeat itself in any way.
To Franky that would be perfect a ship that you can lock up and leave at dock and it will protect itself as if it were its own soldier. Who knows those masts might be able to telescope down into the ship and then something else closes off the deck.

**I would post something, but HTC has got beat me to the chase.
The real world is greater than you know.**
I found it! I found it! This is the soldier dock system!
wait…. maybe this system can make the ship go underwater? like a submarine?
wait…. maybe this system can make the ship go underwater? like a submarine?
And what will make Luffy dig it like Franky said?
Seeing the fish underwater? ><
At first assumed it was a means to board enemy ships but that really doesn't make sense since the strawhats never needed help doing that before.
i think SDS is defense system or maybe…....a training system.....
Isn't it obvious by now?
It's a …
... how shall i put it ...
... a "Bronze Statues Manufacturing Device".
EDIT
That's why Luffy will love it
maybe the ship turns into a fighting robot
I'm pretty sure it's a sentry system so crap like what happened with Shura and Bellamy doesn't happen again.
maybe it's like Kitt the car? the ship is ALIVE!
