Does anyone think…

Team Rocket is just an old meme

I think Pokemon needs better villians on the show. Team Rocket has become very weak villians
-
Is there a BIG difference between the american version and the Japanese version? To me, they're both childish sappy stories.
-
No kidding. Also I think they got even more character developpement than Ash and the gang.

Hah. It's as if Morgan was following the Strawhats with no improvement.
"Team Rocket" are supposed to be for humorous purposes, but last time I watched that show, they were annoying as beeeeep. They're so lame. Why don't they just give up and go for someone else for once?

James and his beloved Growlie

Pokemon fan coming through…
In the beginning, when the Pokemon anime wasn't certain of how long it was going to last (the original plan: 8 gyms, Kanto league and that's it), I guess they didn't know what to do with Jessie, James and Meowth. They did seem like menaces with a bit of bumbling here and there, but they did at least try to be evil. A bit later, they seemed to be more like the joyfully incompitent members of the team as we saw the more sinister, evil sides of the Rocket organization, who stole Pokemon and even cloned for their own purposes. When the Pokemon anime transformed from a short-run anime into the "weekly kids show where nothing really changes too much" (ala Doraemon and some of the family shows that used to come before One Piece like Maruko-chan), then it just got stuck in the formulas and Team Rocket was forced into the bumbling idiot role once and for all. Sadly, though, even with their bumbling and their cliches they still are some of the best and most interesting characters on the show...even if they always are supposed to lose according to the script.

team rocket is a group of dumbasses…they have great knowledge of capturing pokemons with their gadgets...(or ash and crew are just stupid to fall for the exact same trick over and over), but then they have no clue on what to do after that...
why couldnt they just catch pikachu with a net...then beat the crap out of it with a bat to "weaken" it...then use the pokeball:devil:

For starters, its a show for little kids. If this was another kind of series, they could be more compitent and actually have succeeded long ago…but sadly, when people want stability, all they get is incompitence in their villainy.

Well we have proof from the show itself they were once good. Pokemon cronicles once did a background ep. where it showed the three meeting up. They were once GOOD, but somehow went bad at their job. James is now a former shadow of himself.
Also in the beginning of the series you are told before they meet Ash + Pikachu that team rocket had been responible for a series of pokemon theifs. The pictures produced in their first ep. were of Jessie and James.
So yeah… ONCE they were good at their job.

They were probably good thieves because the writers hadn't gotten their formula down. They knew there was a bad-guy group called Team Rocket and they introduced Jessie, James and Meowth to be the main representatives. But I guess they clicked more with their quirkiness and consistant bungling with the populace…especially as we saw the menace and true evil capabilities of those directly under Giovanni and such. Heck, even Butch and Cassidy were seen as evil threats at first...but they too went down the bungling road because of the idiocy of the show.

You know what kept me wondering about Team Rocket? Why won't they just shoot Ash andhis buddies, and take their pokeballs. Screw Pikachu.

As far as comical villains go, Team Rocket doesn't go very far. They're supposed to be the type of villains that try different strategies, but always ending up failing. If you think about it, they're like the anime versions Wil E. Coyotee, and a lower weapons budget.

Snorlax fucking owns!Because this isn't a seinen. This is made for kids and thus, threats that are hardly threatening.

Seriously… The first few defeats, you thought "Wow! No matter how strong evil is, good will always prevail!"
A few more episodes later, you think "Good always prevails because evil is fucking stupid".
