What do you think will happen?

I'm new, i'm not very good in english … but i will give it a shot ^^

My biggest concern is that the next arc* (maybe they have an adventure on the sea first.. who knows..) luffy, robin & chopper will be useless...
merman island is under the sea.. so my guess is those 3 will have a little adventure above the land.. (blackbeard/ace/whitebeard/shanks/ who knows...)
nami is waiting for the log with usopp/sogeking and are terified to death.
Franky who is now teaming up with sanji are having a conflict with some mermans (dunno :p) Zoro on the other hand is finding himself a sword that has that material seastone (you know .. all DF-users are weak from)
(i don't actually think because zoro would be overpowered so let's say a new sword) nami and usopp having an unexpected visitor namely arlong himself and is seeking for revenge... sanji and franky teams up against the big boss.
Zoro finds the star dude, the mermaid and that 8-sword user (you know) and the star will join the crew!

xD sorry maybe there are more threads like this you can count but ach heck...

I seriously don't think that Merman Isle will be 'under the water'. It could just be used as an expression, like 'Island in the Sky'. I'm sure there is much more to it than just diving down into the ocean.

There most likely is more to Fishman Island being underwater than it seems. This upcoming arc seems like it'll sort of mirror Skypiea in the sense that after going up into the sky, the Straw Hats are going down into the ocean.

And I don't think Luffy, Chopper, and Robin will be completely useless in this arc. Fishman Island is most likely encased in a underwater oxygen bubble, just like Skypiea was inside and on a cloud.

And I'm willing to bet Zoro will find a new sword in the Florian Triangle, before they get to Fishman Island.

There will probably be something totally unexpected there for Luffy Chopper and Robin to be okay.

As for Zoro's sword, it seems that it will be solved by the Furianspelling? triangle since Oda even mentioned how there could be a sword there. He wouldn't have put it there if he wouldn't.

Edit@ Zulen, nice but if he's a great white he wont have a nose like Arlongs.

Zoro gets a rusty sword made of BONE (And it has sea-stone minerals too…!).

How it happens: The SH's fight the Skull-Skull pirates (That's what I'll call them till/if they show up). The captain has powerfull, razor-sharp arms that make him tough in close-range combat. After they beat him, Zoro walks over his body, breaks off his arm, and says: "I will call you jagged stream" and everyone is like WTF.

I like that Zoro would get his new sword in merman island… That sounds like a fun little side quest for a cool new place, and what better place to find sea stone than in Merman island??? It makes sense that an island "under the sea" should have good sea stone resourses.

I don't know about Luffy, Robin, and Chopper separating tho. That's just not going to happen. I agree with Private Zulen; the island is going to be "under the sea" but not necessary underwater. Most likely, they'll just have to find a way to dive under and there might be an underwater cave or something. It might even open up the mystery as to what is under the Enies Lobby waterfall

I like the idea of Hachi-chan being there and joining the crew, but I kinda doubt it. He would be a second swordsman, and the crew don't need no second swordsman. Unless he can make music with his body. The crew does need a musician! And by the by, he used 6 swords, not 8: two of his tentacles formed his legs.

I really think all these ideas are great, but I don't think Zoro hasn't given up on Yubashiri yet, so what I think will happen of that theory, is that Zoro finds a fish-man sword-smith, who'll fix up his sword, because, for some reason, he didn't like Arlong's pirates, and are happy that Luffy and Co. thrashed him.

Also, the thing about Hatchan meeting Zoro again… Most improbable. I mean, he HAS started up a takoyaki store, having forgot all means of a grudge against Zoro. If he DID show up, it would be most thinkable that he had ran out of ingredients, and looked after some, and happened to go to Merman Island.

As for the Arlong theory, I kinda support that. I guess Jimbei is a good friend with the mermen, and Arlong kinda hates them, and it would be a showdown against Jimbei and Arlong. But, Arlong threatens to kill the mermen if Jimbei tries to beat him, giving Arlong a new place as "next über enemy", like Crocodile. And naturally, Luffy is there, and he's gonna kick ass.

As for the "outlet of the Hammers" theory, I guess that in that triangle thing, there's a tube thing that transports ships from the triangle to Merman island, and another one that takes them out of the triangle.

If the next island really is "under" the water in whatever state of being I'm rather sure that there will be no weakening to DF users. Back then, when they found the ship that flew down from the sky, the swimmsuit wearing Luffy was able to move normally, which means to me he has to be directly touched by the seawater to feel real effects.
But there would still be the possibility that it is a town completely covered in water which would also mean humans in general can't go there( or at least stay there). I don't think so because if it was like this it wouldn't have been mentioned…

Oda's gonna have a day out showing us how many wierd fishy designs he can come up with. XD

I don´t see any reason why the whole under the water concept should weaken Devil Fruit users. I mean if they would literally be soken in water beneath the surface then their main conern would be catching a breathe rather then worrying about their DF powers being useless. And since they are no fishmen either Zoro, Nami, Usopp, Sanji and Franky would have the same problems with breathing under water.

I think we shouldn´t worry here. Isn´t there a like a ton of Atlantis movies in which normal people that can´t breathe under water are not only able to breath in a city at the bottom of the sea but also have the luck of staying dry for the most of the time? I´m sure that Fishmen Island will follow something along the lines. If the entire city isn´t covered under a large bowl there should be at least some parts that are in order to accomodate shome vishitorsh of the underwater paradishe.
