I'm puzzled how Luffy knows her enemy so well. I mean, her enemy is the WG, right? If Luffy knew his father, then i would have understood, but he didn't, and i wouldn't call his grandfather the WG, so there must be something else that we don't know, yet, right?
luffy just means that he knows that robin's enemy is the wg. that's all.

He understands it in the simple way that is his nature. The world goverment is evil and powerful, and they are tormenting his nakama. Just like Arlong was to Nami, Crocodile to Vivi, Kuro to Usopp and Pell (right name?) to Chopper.
And to some lesser extent Morgan to Zoro and Krieg to Sanji.
It's the same situation he's faced six times before, only on a larger scale.

He just understands man. He just sees and feels the pain that robin has felt and then realizes what the WG has done to her and so he knows her enemy Very well. That's all there is man.

On that last one, I think you're thinking of Wapol. Pell is a member of the Alabastan Royal Guard who ate the Tori Tori no Mi, Model: Falcon. Wapol is the uncaring dictator of Drum Island who ate the Baku Baku no Mi, allowing him to eat anything and fuse what he eats together or to his own body.

What I got when he said that was not that he knew who or what the WG is, but now he knows what Robin is afraid of. That her enemy is not Spandam, or CP9, or even the WG as a whole, but more the fear of the WG's power. I thought the burning of the flag was a global "come on" to WG and showing Robin that he is not afraid of anything they can throw at him, and Robin shouldn't be either, thus saying he will never get tired of Robin or betray her.
The difference is slight, but is a clear difference. Mugiwara_no_Ice's post had the same idea.

Oh, come on! You knew what I meant- I just wrote the wrong name, and I even wrote "(right name?)" behind it to specify that I was uncertain what his correct name was.
How about adressing my point instead of lecturing me about who Wapol and Pell is, since it's pretty obvious which character I was referring to?

If Luffy knew his father and was with him when he was (and is) chased by the WG, i could understand how he could know how Robin feels, but he didn't even know he had a father …
Over analysing it? Possibly. I just think that Luffy has seen this kind of WG "persecussion" (sp????) before and that's why he knows how Robin feels.
