Michael Richards, aka Kramer from Seinfeld, goes totally nuts hurling racial insults at some black dudes interupting his show.
Kramer gone wild?
-
-
already in the news article thread but its on Youtube now….hmmm
-
I hear a rumor that Kramer got pissed when he tried to apologize. Don't know if there were any slurs tho.
-
I've heard about that on our local news this morning, right before heading to school. Now I must say, "Man,".
-
I find it ironic how people actually laughed at the lynching comment, but got all angry and shocked when he said 'nigger'.
-
Me too taboo, I was mainly upset with the lynch comment. That was just overboard. The N-word didn't bother me as much.
-
What is even worse is his appology on Letterman, people didn't know whether to laugh or what, you could feel the extreme tension. I'd post the video but CBS seems to be on a purge and keeping it off the internet.
-
Tsk tsk….short temper can really screw you over.
It's like the second coming of Andrew Dice Clay.
-

Huh, they are! Here's a clip that got past:
-
There's a much longer vesion with the full discussion where the crowd aren't sure what to do and some of them laugh and Seinfield tells them to shut up. Awkward to say the least.
-
This was all over the news yesterday. I thought it was shocking that this guy would go off on a rampage like that. He must be holding back a lot of resentment and anger over something. He'll probably never live it down. I'm sure anger management is in his future but racism is a much harder disease to cure.
-
I can't tell if its rasicm or joking I really can't
-
What gotten into the dude? Why does he do that? I hope he watch out because some blacks are picky with the word 'nigger'.
Oh and this guy tried to be funny olny to end up saying radical slurs. Reminds me of the topic "Lastest &(*^% Airport Ban" when I tried to be funny olny to end up putting radical slurs. I need that second back dammit.
-
I can't tell if its rasicm or joking I really can't
Try using your brain, it usually helps?
What surprised me the most was that nobody stepped in earlier, since the show was clearly out of control and just a guy up there arguing with some audience members.
-
there was no earlier if you read the article thats how the act started
-
That's why I don't watch talk shows, there boring and attempt to get out of control often
-
First of all no, the act didn't start there, he was mad because those guys were talking throughout his whole show, but that's irrellevent, I mean someone should have stepped in during those minutes where he was just ranting and yelling at the audience and clearly not doing a comedic act anymore.
@joekido:

Um, this isn't a talk show, it's stand-up comedy.
-
He was heckled by the person who he threw the insults out. Being heckled isn't an excuse for being a racist. All comedians are heckled and it is common practice in stand up.
-

Ok, I don't watch stand-up comedy, don'r have an cable and to me it's boring IMO.
-
Yep, another situation like this happened on ComicView. But instead of being racist, the comedian made jokes about the heckler, no racist involved. Once the comedian got cracked on the heckler, the heckler shut up.
There's a way to go about that, and Kramer just did it all wrong. The hecklers were at fault as well, but not nearly as much as kramer.
-
Now I think its obvious that what happened was the guys were being loud and rude. And he attempted to deal with them. And tried to be funny by skirting that line of comedy and being racially insensitive. It obvious he doesn’t have the ability that a lot of other comedians do have, be they white black or hispanic. He screwed up and proceeded to throw a big old temper tantrum that made the audience pissed and walk out on him.
He has apologised on Letterman, I didn't see the video because it got taken off because it got there without cbs's permission.
-
Yeah, I've seen comedians bust into hecklers in a way that was really funny and clever, and just has the audience laughing. But you don't go into a tirade about lynching niggers at a heckler unless you've got a lot of anger and at least a bit of deep-seated racism.
-
Why Kramer, why? :(
-
the audience was laughing in that clip though
see the double standard is if Eddie Murphy or Chris Rock did that there wouldn't be a problem
-
So what? He called someone ni*ger. It doesn
t mean he
s racist. Ive insulted pakistanis by calling them paki
s and other racist terms a hundred times, but I dont hate pakistanes, I nearly had a pakistani girlfriend once. -

I wonder how this affect stand-up comedian, I mean has any comedian done this before? If so how did it affect their career? I can't make swift judgement against Kramer, so I wonder what will happen to his career after this.
-
Ah, Good Old Fashioned Racism, The Backbone of America.
-
the audience was laughing in that clip though
A few of them were laugh at first, but if you notice, as he continued on, people got quieter and quieter, and people were saying "oh my god" and getting up and leaving. If he had just made the first comment and moved on, it probably wouldn't have been so bad. But he wasn't making jokes anymore, he was seriously getting pissed off yelling at the audience.
see the double standard is if Eddie Murphy or Chris Rock did that there wouldn't be a problem
In the right situation, it's perfectly already for people to make fun of themselves. But Eddie Murphy and Chris Rock wouldn't do what Richards just did because they're actually good at being funny.
There was nothing funny about what he did, even if he was black himself. -
I actually agree with that, I don't believe it was funny
but I also don't agree that all the news station should go crazy about it
-
the audience was laughing in that clip though
For about 5 seconds and that was before he started spouting n**** everywhere.
see the double standard is if Eddie Murphy or Chris Rock did that there wouldn't be a problem
Not the same context, me and my friends call each other honkies sometimes and none of us are offended by it. If a person who wasn't white started saying it to us then we would be offended. It's the same thing with other races. Chris Rock and Eddie Murphy are black and their audience is mainly black so they aren't offended.
-
so then the only thing left to find out is if hes really rasict because its the person you should worry about not the word
-
but I also don't agree that all the news station should go crazy about it
I agree with that too, I hate media sensationalism. But that's an unfortunate fact of life.
so then the only thing left to find out is if hes really rasict because its the person you should worry about not the word
Did you watch the video? It wasn't just the word. He was saying all kinds of racist things.
-
Only if he was black himself nothing would have been made of it.
-
He also brought up the fact of that's what happens when you intrupt a "white man"…
Wonder what was up with him?
-
It's hard to really sympathize with his situation. Though, I kind of know the feeling of being on one of those unstoppable shit slippery slope tirades. Where once you start, you can't stop, even when you're totally regretting every piece of bile your spouting at that moment.
-
Only if he was black himself nothing would have been made of it.
But he's NOT. There's a difference between people joking amongst themselves and making a racist remark towards another race. Black people don't yell at each other saying "50 years ago you'd be getting lynched! You motherfucking nigger!" And if they did, it wouldn't be in public yelling with a bitter tone. In either case, it's still mean and rude and not funny.
-
Lisa Lampanelli is the perfect example of how to make race jokes without being a blatant racist. Think about it, why don't blacks get mad at her? It's because her jokes are actually funny and you can clearly see she's not being a total racist douchebag when she's telling jokes. And if I can recall, she has used the N-word many times. I don't get upset once while watching her stand-up.
Kramer is dead wrong and he knows it. I shall pray for him, for if a black person sees him, he wont be going home in One Piece.
-
I kinda doubt he's actually racist. From my understanding he was angry at the person and the only way he knew to release it was by saying those things.

Yeah, I know that too.
And i wish people would stop referring to him as "Kramer."
-
Here is the video of the full apology…

I doubt he's some hard-core KKK type of racist. But as I said, it takes more than just being angry to immediately resort to really offensive racist comments like that. So he's got some kind of issue there. If that's the only way he knew how to release it, that says something right there.
There's a difference between people who really think they're a superior race and really hate other races and people who for whatever reason grew up with or acquired a bitterness and prejudice towards a certain race. But it's still racism. -
For me, I can't take none of this lightly I think its a joke, for someone to say all that kind of crap and blame it on his rage.
When i saw this clip with him apologizing, my only thought was "what a pitful man who is tryin this hard to rescue his life".
I can be forgiven, but if he tries to blame it on the rage… then i call it bullshit.
There is noway for a person to act like that, with no at all racist thoughts going thru him at that time and before. -
@Cap'n:

If he didn't have anything against black people, then he would have said something like "shut up you obnoxios jerks" Something that would reflext the annoying actions of the hecklers. Instead, he zoomed in on their race, something that had nothing to do with them heckling him. Why would he insult their race, unless he found somthing wrong with it.
I'm sure he's not a huge bigot. maybe he's got some black neighbor who drives him nuts, and now he associates every black person with his annoying neighbor. I know certain types of people portray certain charicteristics that I am not always fond of. I remember the first east indian person I knew was my jerk ass boss at one of the subways I worked at. Good thing I met some nice indian people too.

But it's still racism.Yeah, I think that it's wrong that he said it, but I can kind of see how or why it happened. I just hate to see people jump on and crucify him, because really, we're all a little bit racist, it's just a matter of keeping it in check. I really doubt he meant anything by it, and he just completely lost it. And I bet he sincerely regrets every minute of it.

Because the immense amount of stress there is in stand-up comedy, coupled with the additional stress of people being dickheads (and he most likely had a lot of pent-up anger and aggression from god knows were) can drive you to say some really crazy things and completely lose it. Haven't you ever said things you don't really mean when you're really angry?
-
I've been royally pissed before, but it still doesn;'t coax me to hurl out racist comments that have nothing to do with why I am pissed at the person. If i'm pissed at someone for being stupid, I'm going to yell at them for being a stupid dumb ass moron.
-

so you have nothing against getting angry at someone you just don't like the gift wrap.
is what I'm reading from that
-
what? I don't "get" what your getting at?
I have every right to get angry at someone if they are pissing me off. How does apearance "gift wrap" piss anyone off. "oh ocean, AP's skin is too dark I hate you now" ya, that makes sence. -
so you have nothing against getting angry at someone you just don't like the gift wrap.
Anger is a part of everyday life. It's how you can control your anger that really counts.
'Curse you! Such a scallywag thy be!'
'Get the F*** out N*****!!'
They can both be insults but they are still completely different in their affect.
-
depends on the person I don't find them at all different (I also don't find words offensive), if they are made to be insults then the thought is still there only the words are different
its the same with people who use words like
Firetruck and Fudge to cover up fuck..
what? I don't "get" what your getting at?
I have every right to get angry at someone if they are pissing me off. How does apearance "gift wrap" piss anyone off. "oh ocean, AP's skin is too dark I hate you now" ya, that makes sence.people use words to bring their thoughts into reality, they pick words to convey those thoughts, if you insult someone yet use nicer words your just changing the bow on the overall package to change the effect. Which I find fake. thats all
-
I feel I want to slap you round the face with my shoe but it's your opinion and I shall let it be just so.:silly:
-
whoa I've never seen that upside-down smily before
oh I forgot to mention even though I don't care about the words I don't go out of my way to say words that I don't normally use to be offensive but I don't take back what I say.
