Rematch? - Sanji vs Fishman Karate

Back in the Arlong arc, we saw Sanji fight against Kuroobi and his Fishman Karate. On land, they were about even until Kuroobi made the mistake of pissing Sanji off. Underwater, however, Sanji couldn't fight Kuroobi at all. Kuroobi had every advantage underwater.

Now, here we are, getting ready to go to Fishman Island. There will (more likely than not) be Fishmen superior to Kuroobi in skill there. There is also a high chance any battles that take place will be at least partially underwater (since Fishman Island is seemingly underwater).

So, my question to all: Do you think Sanji would fare better now than he did before in an underwater fight with Fishman Karate?

Part of what put Sanji at a disadvantage in the underwater fight was the buoancy of the water around him. That would still be a factor to contend with.

Just because they're fishmen doesn't mean there's gonna be fights.

Not impossible, but it doesnt mean for certian.

Sanji has shown assimilation prowess. i'd be very surprised if he hasn't taught himself how to fight under water proficiently by now.

No, but odds are there'll be at least one. Not a single OP story arc I can think of has gone by without a single fight to its name. Maybe the Laboon arc, but that's only if you don't count Luffy vs. Laboon at the end.@sabret00the:

Well mermen and humans tend to dislike each other as a general rule as far as I could tell, there are of course exceptions, just like in all prejudice societies there are people that can look beyond differences.

So I should think that at the very least the SH will meet a group of unruly hooligans that dislike them.. and of course Jimbei's peepz. who the SH will piss off because Jimbei is their enemy.

I dont think so you never know Jimbei might not be prejudice. he might have a few humans on his crew,that could have pissed arlong off to the piont he left or jimbei just kick him off his crew.

Sanji might show something new at the island when he turns out to fight against someone like Kuroobi, just advanced. With the excuse of "I trained expecially for this after Water7, you're fucked!"
That'll be very shitty and a bit badass, so I don't want it to turn out that way. Had enough of Luffy's Gears.

I'm sure that somewhere on Fishman island is Kuroobi's sensei, with skills far greater than that of Kuroobi. Since Zoro's going to be fighting Hachi's superior in swordsmanship, i figure that Sanji will get to fight Kuroobi's superior in Martial Arts.

Oh yeah, we could also see that "1000 direct air punch" that Kuroobi was talking about. Sanji knocked Kuroobi out before it happened, but it gave me the impression of being powerful.

I question if Sanji can DIRECTLY overcome this obstacle.

There are two ways he could in theory:

-Learn Gyojin Karate moves
-Find a way to make human martial arts work right underwater.

The first one is iffy. Where would he study them, and would they even work with his body? It might be like expecting Zoro to learn Hatchi's moves, which can't be done with his body.

The second one is more likely, but it seems to be presented as simple inescapable fact that human martial arts don't work under water. Of course, Kuroobi is a blowhard about that sort of thing.

I'd expect that he figures out, as he did when he fought Kuroobi, a way to take the battle out of their home turf.

I don't think there's going to be fights because the story arc will involve Fishmen. I think there's going to be fights because it's a One Piece story arc. Fights will likely feature Fishmen, as they're the main inhabitants of Fishman Island. But then we could also fight with mer-people instead just as easily.

Who says they even have to fight either/or? They could end up fighting humans on fishman island as well. Or something else.

I think if he ran into Kuro'obi while swimming around he would get his ass kicked just as badly.

I wanna see him take on the role of Rocky and have a fishman serve as Clubber Lang.
