in the begining i thought roger was luffy's granpa and the goverment threatened roger that they would kill his family if he didn't surrender

but know that we know garp is luffy's granpa, even if roger is garp's brother, the WG would never heart luffy since was too young to do anything then and luffy was destined to be a marine by garp

so my theory on roger being relative to roger hasn't "dropped" yet but since they couldn't blackmail him and i doubt someone could touch his nakama i think roger was betrayed by the inside,a one piece judas

i think someone from the old admirals was in his crew and worked with the WG and set up roger in exchange for a high position in the marines (cuz i doubt he scichibukai existed then and maybe that inspired their creation)

If that was the case, It would be Sengoku. But I doubt Roger would be unable to detect a spy or a deserter in his ranks. Even Luffy, who has been betrayed, knows that none of his nakama would deliberately turn against him…. they would have motives for leaving or hindering him, but his influence on them would never cause them to deliberately betray them for something better.

All the people we've seen respected Roger, especially the elderly like Kureha, Whitebeard, Gan Fall, Kokoro, and others.

More than likely, It was Roger's decision that, having achieved his dream and knowing that it would take time and planning to reveal the true history / mount a resistance, he entrusted his dreams to his nakama and the rest of the world. So he turned himself in and gave his speech, inspiring people to rebel and become free spirits against the government.

If I recall correctly (Though it may be filler), SOMEONE said that Dragon appeared and disappered the day of Roger's execution. That could mean that Dragon was one of the people that was inspired by Roger's words. Only instead of piracy, he took it to the next level and become a terrorist.

I called it wrong, so long ago. I guess this needs to be changed.

This can probably go in here. http://apforums.net/showthread.php?t=9876
And we have loads of other Roger threads around, too.

If you spoiler me, I will eat you with tater tots.
