Thank you stephen, it is true your translations always do seem to make the chapter come that much more to life. I especially liked the tag for Nami's alias as Thieving Pussycat, it seems to cover all of what Oda was trying to get across.
Chapter 435 " I Can Guess How You're Feeling" Discussion
-
-
I think the only one who got bounty for defeating a CP9 was Luffy, since he defeated him in front of thousands of marines.
I think the reason why some characters didn't get so high bounty is because the marines didnt which CP9 they defeated, since there wasn any witnesses, so they probably got their bounty for the other things they did, for example, Nami defeating those 50 marines in one shot and fightning the marines captains, Franky for destroying blueprints and being involved in both the train attack and the enies lobby attack and for beating up spandam, Sanji got his because he was the leader of the train attack, defeating Wanze, maybe for closing the gates, fightning marines…
-
Hmmm, the Sanji sketch used for the bounty looks a lot like Mr.4
Would be funny if the marines confuse him for Sanji.
-
I don´t know why everybody is complaining that Sanji´s bounty is not as high as Zoro´s just because he took out a shitload of weaklings in the seatrain. In Enies Lobby there was thousands of Marines and WG officials while the seatrain small fry didn´t even count hundred if I remember correctly. And I seriously doubt that there´s been a Marine officer counting which Strawhat took out more small fry Sanji or Zoro.
Furthermore if the CP9 fights have anything to count then Zoro did something which Sanji can´t equal (not because he can´t but because he was never brought in that position). Zoro was able to keep the two strongest CP9ers (after Rucchi) occupied while he was cuffed to one crewmate which he even used as a weapon for a short amount of time.
It doesn´t matter if Sanji could have done the same or not. Fact is Zoro was in that position and if this info gets to the Marine HQ then narrow minded Marines are of course going to take it as if Zoro is far more dangerous then Sanji who was able to "just" deal with one of those two fighters.
-
Thing is we ddon't know if they've even talked to CP9 yet. They're probably factoring everything else they've done since after this the marines will find out more about the crew. Like where they've gone and who they are.
Considering they know Nami is a burglar, they must know about what she's done in East Blue. Which leads me to believe they're looking everywhere they've been to for information about them.
-

True that nothing like that has been said for sure, but to me it is too much of a coincidence that the ranking chart of bounties and Douriki levels actually go so well with each other (if you exclude Usopp and Robin, who didn´t take part in real CP9 fights):
1. Luffy (300 mio. Bounty) vs Rucchi (4000 Douriki)
2. Zoro (120 mio. Bounty) vs. Kaku (2200 Douriki)
3. Sanji (77 mio. Bounty) vs. Jabra (2180 Douriki)
4. Chopper (50 mio. Bounty) vs. Kumadori (810 Douriki)
5. Franky (44 mio. Bounty) vs. Fukuro (800 Douriki)
6. Nami (16 mio. Bounty) vs. Kalifa (630 Douriki)The chart works actually quite well doesn´t it. True Blueno isn´t listed there, but he would belong to Luffy anyways. And since his bounty was trippled instead of doubled it could be because he´s actually the only one defeated two CP9ers.
And that Robin doesn´t belong there makes not only sense because she didn´t fight but because the only really significant change on her bounty was not that it went up for one million but that the wanted poster shows an updated picture of her.
And Usopps/Sogekings low but still higher then Nami´s bounty could find it´s explenation there that he was the one who actually commited the ritual of declaring war on the WG by burning the flag as well as being the one that prevented Robin from being taken through the Gate of Justice. Furthermore he was also fighting against the 200 Captains and Commanders in front of everyone.
That is not to say that the CP9 fights must have been the reasons for the high bounties but it really isn´t that unlikely either since the numbers speak a clear language.
-
I think they gave Sogeking a 30 million bounty because of the ability he showed when he sniped from the tower and declaring war on the WG.
-
Thing is Chopper's is only 50. If they talked to CP9, Kumadori would tell them that Chopper was the monster, and his bounty would've been a hell of alot more. Only bounty that I think took into consideration beating a CP9 was Luffy because the Buster Call was watching their fight.
-
As it was previously mentioned, I doubt that the higher ranking marine officials (the ones who set the bounty at least) know much about what happened during the actual CP9 vs the rest of the Straw Hats fights. It seems as if they just placed bounties based on how strong they looked (at least for everyone except Luffy and Zoro). I imagine that Zoro's got doubled because of the fact that he had a previous bounty. Luffy's was highest probably because he was the captain.
-
I personally have very few complaints about the bounties.
"Straw Hat" Luffy - B300,000,000
This one was a bit of a surprise to me. I honestly didn't think it would go up that much; I figured 200-250 million, tops. Shows what I know. His threat level tripled, and so did his bounty."Pirate Hunter" Zoro - B120,000,000
Makes sense for his bounty to double; after all, Whiskey Peak was just a bunch of punk bounty hunters. But Enies Lobby, now we're talking about well-trained Marines, government employees and assassins. Whenever a scary pirate hunter turns his sights toward the government, well… add to that the fact that the Marines have witnessed Zoro's new demon attacks, and it's perfectly understandable for the Navy to shit its pants. Hell, I would if I saw Zoro coming at me."Cat Burglar" Nami - B16,000,000
Sixteen million is nothing to sneeze at--even if it is rather small for a Grand Line bounty. Look at it this way: the Navy considers her on the same threat level as Kuro. Probably because of her resolve to attack the judicial island and her strange weapon. But the question begs to be asked...how the hell did the Marines get a picture of Nami in her Skypiea outfit??Sogeking, "King of Sharpshooters" B30,000,000
Thirty million seems a good price for burning the World Government flag; need we mention his unbelievable feat of sniping Marines from the Tower of Justice? 'Nuff said."Black Leg" Sanji - B77,000,000
Nothing to sneeze at, considering it's higher than Zoro's initial bounty. No telling if the WG know who closed the Gates of Justice, but destroying an entire trainload of Marines and government personnel makes enough of an impression. Perhaps (referring to Sanji's new nickname) they have made the connection between him and the notorious "Red Leg" Zeff."Cotton-Candy Lover" Chopper - B50
While hilarious, fifty beri makes a fair bit of sense. For one thing, the Marines may not realize that Chopper (who, in his standard form, does not look threatening at ALL) is also the same creature that charged through the courthouse and trashed the tower. Also, don't forget that the reindeer was out of action during the battle on the Bridge of Hesitation."Demon Child" Robin - B80,000,000
I was expecting a significant increase, seeing as how the Government needs her all the more desperately following the destruction of the Pluton blueprints. However, I suppose it makes fairly good sense to round it off to an even eighty million and leave it at that.Franky "the Cyborg" - B44,000,000
Again, I found Franky's bounty to be lower than expected. But I suppose it reflects his role in the Enies Lobby incident--excluding the blueprint-burning, of course. The possibility exists that the Government doesn't know how the blueprints came to be lost...As for Fishman Island, I'm glad. At last we'll get to see the fish-women Oda mentioned in the SBS, and (hopefully) people will learn the difference between fishmen and mermen.

The thing with "Monster" is that we don´t know how strong that form is. We just know that it easily squashed Kumadori but if it would have done the same to the likes of Kaku and Jabra not to mention Rucchi is nothing that we can take for granted. Besides except for the readers (and probably the Strawhats now) nobody actually knows that "Monster" isn´t something like a regular form of Chopper. Just think back at Franky when he thought it was one of Choppers 3 forms.
The only thing that is a given is that Chopper defeated Kumadori. Speculation what he could and could not do as Monster shouldn´t matter here.

I get what your saying, but I'm just wondering that if they did talk to CP9. Kumadori would most likely mention how he fought Chopper and lost when he turned into it. If they did take into consideration the defeat of the CP9, he'd have at least more than Nami since his opponent was stronger than hers.
-

Now I´m confused. The way I read your last sentence it seems that you´re saying Chopper has a lower bounty then Nami, which isn´t the case.

And that's a good point with the chart. I never even thought of it.**

Yeah because Chopper's bounty is only 50 berries. he's seen as the Strawhat's pet.
-

Zehahahaha, why thanks for pointing that one out. That´s what happens when I try to understand the bounties without checking any translations. Then screw everything I said (which includes the chart). lol
-
About the author of Sanji's robot sketch it was probably Wanze that did it (look at the eyebrow curl)
Regarding Chopper reward Kidany is right
Chopper is 50 berries, Nami is 16 Million Berries
-
FOR THE LAST TIME!
Bounty does not equal Power Level.
In some ways it does equal power level, Now that depends on the pirate who has the bounty and HOW he got it. Do you really think if Blackbeard beats Ace his bounty won't be a measure of his POWER?
-
About Franky joining:
Sanji didn't want to join either, but the chefs at Baratie pushed him to.
-
So, who else thinks that the one who's been sinking the ships in the Furorian Triangle Area is Jimbei?
-
So, who else thinks that the one who's been sinking the ships in the Furorian Triangle Area is Jimbei?
It's possible, heck maybe Oda will use that to introduce Jinbei!
-
I dont noe if anyone posted this but i think that bounties eqaul rep level. ussops bounty is higher than chopper and nami cuz he burnt the flag . Sanji is preety high stop the buster call movement. One also ha to put into consideration that all those nicknames and bounties are all down by AK, and it is really to help them once they get in the new world. pirates without rep will not survive in the new world
-

It's alright, no problem. I just wondered why you thought it was 50 million.
Now I just wonder how much information they have on the Strawhats. Since Nami's nickname has to do with what she hasn't really done in awhile. They're probably looking at where they're from and what things they've done more thoroughly in East Blue.
-

I agree with you that most of the SH crew has such high bounties because of their "threat level" to the Governmet (obviously what they did at EL). It depends on what you mean by rep, Is the rep for taking down a POWERFUL individual?
I just don't believe this is the case for EVERY pirate with a high bounty. Some could have high bounty's because of their power and skill. In some ways a bounty can be used a s a power level.
-
It's possible, heck maybe Oda will use that to introduce Jinbei!
That would be awesome.
TBH I'd like to see Nami kick the crap out of Jimbei- after all, mermen are the ones that ruined half of her life.
-

Gyojin did not ruin her life, rasict gyojin pirates ruined her life.

Technically, they weren't racist.
Racism in this world is defined as 'discriminating against people for the colour of their skin', even though we are all of the same race- human.
Kinda like self-extermination.
-
So, who else thinks that the one who's been sinking the ships in the Furorian Triangle Area is Jimbei?
It sounds kind of like Enel blasting people with his lightning from a distance. Perhaps Jimbei will be a lord of the seas, and control it as such. Maybe with a devil fruit, or maybe with some sort of "trident" ala Neptune.
I'm kind of hoping that Jimbei has a 500 mill bounty.
-

Eneru-sama wouldn't do that. He's busy with that mole-guy on the moon, remember?
-
So, who else thinks that the one who's been sinking the ships in the Furorian Triangle Area is Jimbei?
yea it would be a good way to get a feel for what jinbei character is.
and what he do to get a schibukai title. -
Eneru-sama wouldn't do that. He's busy with that mole-guy on the moon, remember?
Huh? That's not the issue. I'm comparing Jimbei hitting people in the Furoian Triangle from Merman Island with whirlpools to Enel blasting people with lightning from Upper yard to Angel Island.
-
Uh, guys? Remember what happened to Krieg's crew? 49 ships sunk. By Mihawk. After sailing into the Grand Line.
And just so happens the Eastern border of East Blue borders this triangle.
Coincidence? I think not.
-

What are you saying? The whole point of the Arlongs world view was that he was a fishman-racist who thought of his race being superior to humans. He treated humans badly because he considered the fishmen the superior race. He even said it with his own words that it´s the race that makes the difference. So in the One Piece world that makes Arlong´s view most definitely a racists view.
@Fire Fist:

Uhh, come again!? :wassat:

Oh.
My mistake, then.

@Cap'n:
About Franky joining:
Sanji didn't want to join either, but the chefs at Baratie pushed him to.
Well, I didn't really read it like that. It seemed like, Sanji really did want to go along with them (and fulfill his dream, for one), but the other chefs realized it would take something a bit drastic for him to find the guts to just pack up and leave. So they gave him the push.
So far, Franky hasn't really shown any signs of wanting to go anywhere.
I have no doubts Oda will work that all out in the coming chapters, though.
-
FOR THE LAST TIME!
Bounty does not equal Power Level.
That's wonderful but has absolutely nothing to do with what I was arguing. I'm bothered by the fact that they Nami and Franky directly assaulted the World Government but got off easier than Zoro post-Arabasta who simply defeated a guy who was actually a criminal. Re-read the damn post.
-
Uhh, come again!? :wassat:
Okay, East Blue borders the First half of the Red Line on the West side. Loguetown is the closest town to Reverse Mountain. On the East Side of East Blue is the closest town to Marijoi (If Marijoi is indeed on the Red Line). This Triangle that Kokoro describes is near the Red Line. So, let's suppose that Krieg sails into the Grand Line through the calm belt and ends up in this triangle. Mihawk, who happens to be hanging out in that general area sees Krieg and is like, "Wtfhax?!" and starts blowing up his ships. In a panic, Krieg flees back across the Calm Belt and Fullbody sees them. Fullbody is also "Wtfhax?!" and starts persuit. Gin puts on his little costume and gives him a good chase across East Blue. He gets caught shortly before reaching Baratie's location (Also near the Calm Belt). With Gin captured, Fullbody decides to have a bite to eat before questioning Gin.
Or it could be Jimbei. Notice that Gin mentions whirlpools.
So therefore, Mihawk would be the terror of this Triangle, not Jimbei.

Ahh, now I get it. You were saying that Krieg entered the Grand Line from the beginning. Well I never thought of it that way, but now that I think about it it´s not that unlikely.
I mean one could argue that it´s a bit strange that a fleet of 50 unexperienced ships makes it safe through the Calm Belt, but then again it´s not that much harder to believe then believing that the entire fleet made it unharmed through Reverse Mountain.
Well anyways, thanks for explaining it a bit deeper since it appears I was too stupid to get it from the beginning.
-
Y'know I have a thought.
The abruptness of the Shanks/White/Blackbeard/Ace confrontations ending was way too unatural.
You think its possible Oda's planning to move chapters around for the final tankoban?
Berserk's author ahs done this on a few occasions, and even dropped a chapter altogether for the tankos. So maybe we havn't seen the end of that sequence and Oda just wants to fit the Water7 Epilouge into Volume 45? -
It sounds kind of like Enel blasting people with his lightning from a distance. Perhaps Jimbei will be a lord of the seas, and control it as such. Maybe with a devil fruit, or maybe with some sort of "trident" ala Neptune.
Or maybe, since fishmen are pretty big anyway and whalesharks are massive, he is just like the biggest fishguy ever and is sinking ships with his sheer ginormosity.
-

…… not much harder to believe ...? For me personally both scenarios are simply ridiciulously unbelievable! The only thing most likely save to asume is that Oda, at that stage of the manga, probably hadn´t thought about how to leave/enter the GL at all.
Have we learned anything anywhere at all about leaving the grandline? (really can´t remember) Is there a possible way back through reverse mountain? (Didn´t seem to me when I read this ages ago...). The only ?obvious? way would be to follow the full circle (does the log lead from Raftel to Loguetown in the end?)? - very many question marks to me:blink:
-
this is really shocking…... Robin only increase by 1mil? how many strings did Aokiji pulled for her?
-
woooooooooooooooooooooooooooow
that´s awesome
Luffy got exactly(i´m serious) the bounty thought he would^^
and @ choppers bounty roflmao
just thinkbountyhunter:"hey, look, the pet from the strawhats,pffft,50 belli. We should catch him and the buy a beer,yeah….."
chopper:going monster mode
bountyhunter:"aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh*that´d be great^^
oh yeah, now i think it´s pretty sure that franky is going to join(and i´m begining to like him a bit more now^^)
-
thanks for the chappie ^_^
this is really shocking…... Robin only increase by 1mil? how many strings did Aokiji pulled for her?
I fell exactly the same…. I mean... come on.... only 1 mil?? but the pic is changed now and the bounty paper already contain 'dead or alive' now
Luffy's bounty is really shocking, not to mention Zoro's. but I feel bad for Sanji..... how can the marine coudn't get any pic?? XD and I bet, every bounty hunter will take Nami's bounty paper just to keep it. ^^ what a pose........
anyway... great chapter.... can't wait to read next chapter, really want to see the 'dream' ship ^^ -
but then again it´s not that much harder to believe then believing that the entire fleet made it unharmed through Reverse Mountain.
Actually, it is.
You may remember Krieg's ship was a galleon.
How's he gonna fit that through those archways?
-
1. Luffy (300 mio. Bounty) vs Rucchi (4000 Douriki) +Blueno (820 Douriki)
2. Zoro (120 mio. Bounty) vs. Kaku (2200 Douriki)
3. Sanji (77 mio. Bounty) vs. Jabra (2180 Douriki)
4. Chopper (50 mio. Bounty) vs. Kumadori (810 Douriki)
5. Franky (44 mio. Bounty) vs. Fukuro (800 Douriki) + Spanda (9 Douriki)
6. Nami (16 mio. Bounty) vs. Kalifa (630 Douriki)+those were before kaku and kalifa eated devils fruits.
And next member will be singing merman
-
@Olmi_McFly:
+those were before kaku and kalifa eated devils fruits.
Which going by Jabra´s words don´t have anything to do with Douriki in the first place so the chart should remain the same.
-
@Olmi_McFly:
+those were before kaku and kalifa eated devils fruits.
But the dourikis didn't register Lucci and Jabura's DF too, so..
-
Prediction:: BB will be the "ghost ship" that had been sinking ships. While looking for the ship, Luffy will chance on the Ace and BB fight.
-
I think the dude that sunk them ships is jinbei. he could have a masssive sea king that he orders around. or he could make whrilpools and all that good stuff.
