However, al Ds shown so far have used brute strength rather than weapons, or in the case of Dragon he might be using a Devil Fruit. Correct me on that if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's the case. Thus, I can't really see Blackbeard using a weapon. He looks like another bare-fist guy to me.

Blackbeard looks like the fighter that would just straight out brawl without a weapon. So I can see him just tearing through things. Maybe he like slashed at Shanks and he gave him that cut.

Although it's pretty cool, I just can't feel it fits BB. You know, in fact, I can't put any weapon on him.
I just can't picture BB running fast enough to hit someone with his claws, it's a rather tricky weapon. Also, it will mess up his nose. That sucks.
He walks with a goofy style, hands slightly in the air, curved as they follow the stomach. Like Chopper just with alot more pride into it. Luffy shows this kind of walk sometimes too. But he's so huge in the stomach it's hard to put a weapon, if a fighting style at all on him. -

I personally think he has small knives don't know why but i can picture him with 3 in his hand. But i can also picture him fighting bare handed just smashing people through things.(brolly style)

Well, I don't know if anyone's thought of it, but…
- The three lines on Shanks's flag is obviously his scar.
- He didn't create his pirate band until Goldie passed away.
- Every picture of Shanks in his early years has been missing the scar.
Therefore, it must've happened between the period when Roger died and before Shanks raised a Jolly Roger (unless it changed over time, but I highly doubt somebody would show off their scars like that).
Counter-argument: His eye is covered in the picture where he's asking Buggy to join him, and they were shouting in the rain... Roger was not executed in the rain...
Concerning Shanks's crew, Beckman and Roux have unknown backgrounds and could've found him at any time... Usopp is 17, so that means Yasopp couldn't have joined him until... counts fingers 5 years after Roger's death?
Yassop was with Shanks while Luffy was 7 years old, so they were probably in East Blue for quite some time, maybe, just maybe…
Anyway, we don't know how old Blackbeard is, but he is visibly older than Shanks... Under what I speculated above, it seems logical that Blackbeard was in East Blue between the 5 year period of Roger's death and Yasopp joining.

This is the main risk of the anime, you cant trust on it. Roger has been showed only in the first panel of the first chapter in the manga, the rest, including the execution were just stupids fillers of Toei.

I think there are several possibilitys:
1: Claw like weapon. (I can't see this though, the thought of that big dude with little itty claw weapons0
2. Zoan fruit (possible, perhaps a lion or a bear fruit, in which case can you imagine a bear version of the already huge ass Blackbeard? Blackbeard the Blackbear? or it may be another animal I haven't even thought of)
3. His fingers man
4. He uses a single bladed scimitar like that classy pirate he is, and he just cuts so fast he slashed his face thrice before he could react.
5. Somthing to do with a Logia or a Paramacia DF, though I find that hard to picture…an elemant that leaves scars of that sort?
6. The knives in fingers is always possible as well, be cool if he could throw them.

Well Gol D. Roger execution was more elaborated in the anime (which does mean filler)
Next we have Luffy in the same spot where Roger was executed and Buggy preparing to kill him a storm breaks out, Dragon appears and talks about the storm of fate
On the last Chapter we seen Shanks and Buggy in the day Roger was executed in LogueTwon and it's raining (storm)
This leads me to think that LogueTown storm is one of the things that links Gol D. Roger and Luffy
Now On topic:

Giraffes are actually related to the cattle family though, so using ushi is correct is a sense.

But apart of that, I think Blackbeard's bear fruit (if it exists) might not increase his size as dramatically as it did with lucci, after all, he was a highly trained zoan. Not everybody put this much training into their fruit power.

Im not sure but I believe ive heard this somewhere before that bear claw marks always displayed 4 scratches. Can anyone please help confirm this?
Shank's eye has only 3 scars so I feel more inclined toward a sloth zoan..maybe a tortoise?? he looks like he's in a shell…plus they both have 3 claws.

your right about the claw marks, it seems its usally 4-5 marks
and no hes not in a shell there its just his stomach hair which looks liek the marks on a the bottom of a turtle
