      Yosh!

During the Enies Lobby Arc, Kokoro mentioned that no matter what the outcome, Luffy's name 'would be heard throughout the world' and I was all like , "awsome, so they're going to be major players in the world from now on!!"

But with the recent chapter(s), I've been getting the feeling that, while the SHs will be involved in major global events, they are going to be detached from it. Not following? Lemme put it this way.

In Alabasta, the Strawhats were at the epicentre of everything. They were the ones who took down Baroque Works and Crocodile, and supported Vivi all the way up to the Bomb, and basically prevented Alabasta from being torn apart. But despite all that, they were quite removed from the whole civil war, eg. Luffy, who wasn't really fighting for anything more than the fact Croc made Vivi cry. The SHs did what they did for Vivi, not for Alabasta. I mean, the whole thing could have just involved Vivi losing a lot of money to a crooked poker game in Rain Dinners, and if she was depressed enough about it, Luffy would have gone over to kick Croc's ass anyways (yes I oversimplified it, and no I didn't forget Kozha's father). But I hope you can see where I'm going with this.

Similarly, while everyone else was shocked by the attack on Enies Lobby, the the SHs, it was all about getting Robin back, political/social/whatever consequences be damned. And off late, we've been hearing about Dragon and his revolutionaries, and the balance of the three great powers, all of which seems to indicate powers are going to collapse and blah blah.

So, here's my question. How involved will the Strawhats get with all these events? It seems the further down the Grandline you get, the more you see are in touch with these various powers. Do you think the Strawhats will actively get involved with all these things, or will they just sail through it, not concerned? As of now, the answer seems to be 'no', but things can change, and I'm curious as to what people think.

        Wow, now that's a consistent post !

And I must say I agree with you.
The SH and especially Luffy have no interest in political stuff, they are "people oriented".
In every arc, they fought because of/to help somebody.

But then, even if they have no interest in this game of power, the consequences of their actions will certainly have an effect on the course of the world.

They will follow their own will, but the world will be shaken in the process.

From what I can see, The straw hats will iventually get involved at least with dragon in some way or form, but, That's not to say Luffy will not be care free about it like always. And that's what makes Hlalf the Arc enjoyable.

they will have to be involved, like it or not….. just that they probably would like to avoid it rather than get involved....

It's all because Luffy doesn't give a damn about politics or the WG.

IMO, his policy is 'a world without rules is a good world'.

I bet the SH will just run trough all that kicking the buts of who sticks in front of them, so they can reach their goal…thats all that matters!

It's nice to think idealistically, Skymo, but I'm sorry, it's not going to happen.

To a degree, they will get involved with whatever happens on the second half of the Grand Line. Every island they went to got them involved with some sort of politics. In Whisky Peak and Little Garden it was Baroque Works. In Alabasta it was Baroque Works and civil war. In Mocktown it was the "New Age" philosophy. in Skypeia it was ruling heiarchy and religion. In Longringlongland it was honor among pirates (Davy Back Fight) and Kuzan's own little experiment. In Water 7 it was Cipher Police 9 and their agenda with Robin. In Enies Lobby it was more or less the same thing.

In the New World, the Shichibukai and the Yonkou will both become a factor. The marines, as always, will be prevailant as well. Whatever islands they visit will probably have their own crisis, or be dealing with a combination of the Yonkou and Dragon's actions. Either way, it's a safe bet the Mugiwara will become involved to a degree. Of course, not every place in the New World will become their concern/problem, but every island they visit will.

I called it wrong, so long ago. I guess this needs to be changed.

Well i'm not so shure about that all the Alabasta thing was not about the politics or nothing it was about Vivi, in mocktown it was about the golden bell of cricket(i dont remenber how to spell the name) in Skypea i dont remenber what that was about and in water 7 and Enies Lobby it was about Robin, sure they might change things for everybody but they dont actualy get directly involved all they do is protect their friends and pursue theyr dreams!

Luffy has grown alot, and not only in strenght but he´s starting to think more and more like a captain than ever before, he is starting to realize the dangers of the grand line right now ever since his fight ( it wasn´t a fight, it was about luffy getting whooped…) with Ao kiji, in the beginning it was all about fun and friends, but now it´s starting too get serious (the fun is still there of course), but i think. what i am trying to say is, i don´t think it´s all about finding one piece and becoming the pirate king anymore, ever since the water 7 saga began and we got to now more about the ancient kingdom/civilization it truly confirmed my thoughts on a deeper story than a normal shonen manga. So yes i think they will get more involved with the world in one way or another....
