Arlong's problem was he was NOT a combat strategist, which I easily picture Jimbei being. Especially if he ate the Mizu Mizu no Mi. As Arlong and Chuu showed us, Water is a deadly weapon in the hands of the Gyojin, who can apparently apply excessive pressure to whatever water they tread/handle. What makes you people think that there is only one crew with all the strongest fishmen. We barely know anything about Jinbei; how is it that anyone thinks he's weaker than Luffy? You got to be a beast(meanig a feared powerful pirate) to get a Shichibukai title. same goes for the other 2 powers. haveing Shichibukai as a title says alot more then having a big bounty.

1. Jinbei has been hyped since East Blue (7-8 years ago real time)
2. We havnt seen a proper merman fight in ages (7-8 years ago real time)
3. Schichibukai with an unrevealed bounty = uber strong
4. The sheer awesomeness of an underground island would be seriously diminished in the case of a OHKO

For all we know, Crocodile's former bounty is so low because he was recruited ten years ago and Doflamingo's is so high becuase he was recruited a few months ago.
As a result, I really don't care what Jimbei's former bounty is.

If Luffy OHKO-ed Jimbei I'd stop reading.
But its kinda hinted at when you think back to Jaya and Bellamy. Bellamy was captain + a rookie. Sarquiss wasn't but was weaker. I don't know but it feels like they were left by Donflamingo only recently. They hadn't experienced much of the ground line I felt from their attitude… They were shocked by Luffy and his bounty.

I was just using an example of a possible situation to prove the point that time can distort and confound possible conclusions from former bounties. I did not mean that they actually became Shichibukai in those times.

I see. Well ok then let´s not talk about the time of when anyone was recruited anymore. However, what you say about time isn´t that wrong. Oda himself said it in one of his SBS (I constanly forget in which volume that was) that Crocodile´s former bounty doesn´t concur with the actions he take after it was frozen. Oda said that under considering everything that he did with BW at Arabasta up to the point he was defeated by Luffy, he would have deserved a bounty twice as high as his former one.
I think that bounty in the warlord case is more than what we think , the frozen bounty doesn't mean "max power 81 000 000" , it's more "base power 81 000 000" , what i mean is that you should not see the bouty of a warlord as his max level but more as the start of his true level .
for exemple , if a warlord has a bounty of 400 M , you should seeing this as an indicator which implies that his power is above what his old bounty represent .

Bounties are threats to the government. Threats include power.
So most bounties are made by how powerful a person is.
The other half is threat to the government and special abilities.
Zoro's wasn't as big as Luffy's because Luffy is captain of a powerful crew and defeated Lucci.
Robin's bounty was because she can read poneglyphs.
Bounties don't show power levels, but they do show if they're a force to be reckon with.

What I don't get is how is OHKOing Jimbei prove that Luffy a '300 million beri' man. With Bellamy, the point was highlighted because Luffy went from being a rookie to the next level (remember all the talk about how Bellamy was the top rookie etc etc?). Thus, OHKOing Bellamy showed that Luffy was now far and above the punk pirates, and was on his way to play with the big boys.
Taking Jimbei out in one hit at this point will not prove Luffy is worth his 300 mil, it'll just show that Jimbei is not fit to be a Shichibukai, that he is far weaker than he's been made out to be. It would do a-b-s-o-l-u-t-e-l-y nothing to show that Luffy's upped his game! I know my point sounds vague, but I just can't find a way to explain any better than this. I think it should…intuitive.

Well truthfully, there's probably more fools like Krieg that have no idea who they are and and get attacked by them.
Also there are others that want to be a Shichibukai like Blackbeard, which would probably get challenged.
Just because they're tools of the government doesn't mean they can't have "fun" and fight/train. Mihawk is a Shichibukai and is the strongest swordsman in the world. Croc was one and he used his power to become a crooked leader. And those are the only two that were known in real detail and backstory. Just think how the other 5 are.

He knocked Bellamy out because Bellamy hurt Cricket and company and stole thier treasures.
It may not have tryed to be about being superior but whether intentional or not the fact of the matter is luffy showed us he was superior

Well I can personally seeing Jinbei having a lower bounty than the Bear. Probably somewhere around 150 - 200 Million Berri.
