JUMP Festa: 2006 (or 2007 according to Shueisha)

Okay, latest JUMP had the first digs, or at least the first I've seen.

Didn't have time to read through it carefully (I've been really busy and barely even glanced at OP this week) but looks like we're gonna have a Naruto VS OP stage event. It will be in the form of a GINORMOUS rount-table discussion between the Naruto author and Oda as well as VA's from both.

Anyway there were a bunch of pages on it and I'll let you know more when I read more unless someone else gets to it first.

Oh, and the super-sucky news for me…well I dunno if it's just me, but I remember it being a lot closer to Christmas. This year it's the weekend of December 16th. This sucks because I was betting on it being the next week but stupid me didn't realize that Sunday would be Christmas Eve. So I'm gonna be spending an extra 100+ dollars to get my ass to Tokyo for the event, then back to Fukui on Monday THEN BACK TO TOKYO AGAIN that same week for Christmas break.

But the short version of this is: I'll be there and if Oda's there you can bet I'll be bringing back video.

Unfortunately you can all stop imagining the possibility of OP pwning Naruto (or vice-versa) because this is the land of subtlety and putting one insanely popular series down in front of another insanely popular series in front of voracious fans is not going to fly well.

As am I. There are a few details I THINK are correct but like I said, I literally glanced at the page and went back to work so I don't wanna say anything to get people bummed if it was just a fancy picture but sounds like we will be treated to special guests.

Oda usually does have a 'roundtable' which is more of a 'straight line' of Oda, some guests (VA's) and two MCs chatting about stuff. I can't imagine it being absent this year but I (or someone else with JUMP) will get on that ASAP to confirm.

We'll see. I haven't even read up on it so for all I know it could be a dual 'roundtable'.

But if it's a dramatic show then expect Luffy to fight Naruto with each doing their signature stuff only to damage each other a bit with each honoring the other's strength and then teaming up against a more threatening force showing the power of teamwork. The Japanese Way. DO-N!!!

If it's like the past One Piece crossovers, the SH will team with Naruto characters to fight villians of each respective series. Like the DBZ/OP crossover.

@Greg, will Oda be taking questions? If so, do you know what questions you will ask him? Of course, this is all depending on wheter you meet him or not.

IF it's anything like previous years, it takes place in a huge indoor arena. The stadium seats are for regular people and the seats on the floor are for people with special passes. Dunno how they get them be it contests, relatives, media, etc. Basically I have no chance of getting one.

In the past, questions have not been taken from fans, rather fans 'work together' to decide on predetermined questions that Oda will answer.

When I was there in 2003 (for the '2004' show) the questions all had a theme which was "What's this person up to?" and fans were given three choices A B or C with each corresponding to a past character or characters. The choice that received the biggest applause got the answer.

As I recall Dorey and Brogy, Zeff and Shushu won. I was pissed that Shushu won because that was the freaking girls' fault when it was up against Coby and Helmeppo. Oh well, three years later now we know so…forgive and forget.

Anyway, it could be TOTALLY different this year. We'll see.

Seems they are using Part 2 Naruto characters, not bad. Hopefully this may lead to a later collaboration between the two. Maybe Oda can give Kishi a few tips to help him improve (or vice versa, don't flame me). Kishi is an admitted fan of One Piece so who knows. Good pic Ocean.

After reading the article like I suggested http://apforums.net/showpost.php?p=382755&postcount=9 here, this will be the stage 'roundtable' discussion feature. Hopefully it will be twice as long so the information from both sides isn't halved.

AND, as I also suggested before, yes, the VA's WILL be appearing!!! Both from Naruto and OP. It does not say how many or few but they all seemed to enjoy the stage events in the past, especially when they all gather together so this may just be a literal fanorgy. (as opposed to fangasm)

Okay, so I got a chance this evening and sit down with my JUMP. Here's the deal.

One Piece VS Naruto
The discussion mentioned before. Which VA's attending has not been specifically revealed. There are instructions to apply for a special seat in the floor of the arena but the chances of me AND my girlfriend getting one are not good and I'd rather sit with her so scratch that.

Then

December 17th 3:40-4:20
One Piece Stage, the typical presentation it seems? The theme is a Chistmas Party with Luffy and Usopp's VA's. Surprise guests? You can probably count on it. Surprising revelations? Maybe. The best stuff is USUALLY reserved for the last day to attract more attention on Sunday.

Aw man, last night I had a wicked dream about this, but it was pretty random. The fights were like in the OP/DBZ crossover, not fighting each other, but fighting opponents from thier series. And the fights I chose were really wierd, Luffy fought Kuro, and Naruto, Lee, and Sakura fought KYUUBI.

Man the Luffy vs Kuro was sooooo awesome though. Kuro did a drill like kick to Luffy, and he guarded it with his arms, but then Kuro launched off of his arms into the air, and for some reason there was a nail above Luffy, and Kuro tried to kick it down from the air into his head. Luffy dodged, and punched at Kuro multiple times, but Kuro easily dodged each punch, and then slashed at him. There was a LOT more, but I cant remember.

And then it showed Kyuubi, and Lee standing on his head. Lee said "You are a worthy opponent", and jumped off of it, and kicked it in the face. Naruto and Sakura threw kunais from afar. But then Kyuubi's face started peeling, and Shukaku was under it, and for some reason "We are family" started playing O.o. The best part of this dream though, was that it was SO well animated. It was like perfect animation, and made the fights super awesome.

Anyway, thats all I remember….but yeah....

But hey, I did read about the "OP vs Naruto" thing...I do hope maybe Oda and Kishimoto end up maybe taking notes on each other, but who knows what could happen. Then again, if VAs are included...well I know Chopper = Konohamaru (= Gash), so we know there may be side switching :p
