Whitebeard is sick and I have a feeling Blackbeard may kill him or take his place. He probaly left whitebeard because he felt he was better than him and wanted to make his own name. No, he's his son in the nakama sense. Whitebeard says all of his nakama are his sons. If it was his blood child, Whitebeard would feel a little more remorse about chasing him down and having him killed.
Shanks is worried because he spent a good time in Fuschia Village with Luffy and Ace, and from personal experience with Teach, knows that Ace is not ready to fight him. He doesn't want someone who he has such a bond with to be killed by a known killer.
