I am not sure who all watch this show, but this is one of the best shows on tv, if not the best.
It comes on hbo every sunday.
Any "the wire" fans? If so lets discuss.

Big fan of the show, been working through the season four screeners over the last two weeks. Thank God this on, seeing as FX shafted season six of The Shield out of the fall and now it'll start in APRIL of 2007! :getlost:
What are four screeners? excuse my ignorance. lol
What episode are you on? I see mine a week in advance because I watch them on demand. SO the last one I saw was episode 46, and episode 45 was shown this past sunday.
! Do you think all of those bodies in the vacant buildings are going to be the reason chris and snoop go to jail or get caught? She left alot of stuff there. The security guy badge for example.

Screeners are like a preview, or advanced copy sent to various outlets (video stores, critics, ect) and somewhere and somehow, these advanced copies end up online.

Uh, the last the episode I saw, was the aftermath of Carcetti's election win, and Marlo busting major crimes' surveillance job.
O ok, I think I am either one or two episodes ahead of you.
I've heard about this series and saw some on BET and I really liked it. But besides that I haven't seen any of it at all, is there any place I could go to , to see it?
Bet? are you confusing the wire with the corner? But what kind of cable do u have? It comes on HBO every sunday. And if you have on demand you can see all this seasons episodes.
Also you can rent the other seasons at blockbuster or even buy them if you want. A very good show. I think it is better than the Sopranos in alot of ways. It deals with alot stuff.
With the Final Season of the show coming soon it's really going to be intresting to see how things will wrap up.
-Will The Detail make the perfect case by bagging Marlo,Vondas, And Proposition Joe.
-Will Omar come out on top against Marlo and his crew (if he's still apart of the show.)
-After accidently killing his son will Bubbles finally get his life back in order.
-What's next for Micheal,Namon, & Randy after each experienced some major life changes.
-What'll happen to Herc?
I hope Omar gets killed, most likely by Michael.
Omar did to much crap to be alive.
Michael will either turn his life around because of Cutty or will become another Avon with dookie being another Barksdale.
Marlo is going to jail and so is the greek. Cris and snoop either killed or in jail.
When does the new season start?
Everybody has dirt on them
Daniels
Mc Nulty
Kima
Bunk (he and Multy have enough dirt on them to be a grave though probably much less then Daniels.)
The new season is supposed to start in January
Haha i love how Sandai ressurected this exactly one year later. But yeah, I saw one episode like a year ago and was very interested. When does it come on?
I was going to make my own thread dedicated to the Wire but then I found this thread. and with the new season coming up it only made more sense to do so. As to your question I have not the slightest clue if you had Time Warner Cable with HBO on Demand then you would be set, but if your still
intrested.

Well Season 5 officially kicks off in few hours, still trying to rack my head over whether this newspaper perspective will work or not.
Episodes 1,2 and episodes 5-7 leaked onto the internet. Theres also a official trailer for it on youtube.

An okay episode Avon reappears in episode two.
Hopefully Avon appears some more since hes always been my favorite character. And I'm really hoping that at the end of this season Marlo, Chris and snoop get taken for being so damn ruthless.
I thought Avon and Stringer were ruthless, but these guys are psycho.
Avon was never really as ruthless as Stringer even if he had intentions to go hunting for Marlo after the former nearly had him killed.
Good finish I guess though.
! Omar got knocked off
Marlo got off
Yes it was a excellent finish. Too bad this show is dangerously underrated while things like The sopranos gets constant praise. The Sopranos isn't a bad show but with the kind of attention that show gets is retarded.
! The way Omar got killed was perfect, alotta people probably expected a character like Omar to go out in a huge gun fight against Snoop and Chris but that wouldn't have been realistic it would have just came off as Hollywood. And I knew he was probably going to get killed with the way he carried himself this season but I just didn't expect it to be so quick….and by a little kid too. Sad reality is that even these little kids have become killers.

After the way the show ended and how it practically got snubbed at the Emmy's I actually wondered if people still liked it.

A part of me knew Omar was going to get got but not like that and not by someone like that
Just finished Season 2 during my super long Winter Break.
And goddamn, how did I not catch this show while it was still on HBO? Easily the best television show I've seen in ever.
I'm just getting into this.
I love how simple yet complex it is. Refreshing in so many ways.
welcome to enlightenment

It always seemed to me like something you had watched, but either way enjoy it!
This reminds me that I need to finish the 3rd season.
Best TV show ever.

Monkey King's comin' yo!

Yeah, finish it and start the 4th season, my favorite one.
Just finished the first season.
This shit makes Breaking Bad and Mad Men look like Looney Tunes.
Mad Men is at least on par with The Wire.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Okay, after pondering this MM is not QUITE up there with The Wire, but if The Wire is a 10/10, then MM is a 9.8/10.
It ain't no Looney Tunes, Zeppie. Retract that accusation.
Nope! Sorry! No can do!
I can't put Mad Men on the same level a The Wire. It just doesn't have the scope, depth, or writing for me. I'm not quite sure if I would even call it the best show on TV right now, but maybe I would have to just out of enjoyment and longevity so far. I still think it needs another really strong season.
That said, I love Mad Men and it's probably one of the highlights of my week. Great production value and it has a dramatic influence on my daily life in terms of drinking and treating women poorly.
Zeph, the second season of The Wire tends to lose people because it is a big departure from the rest of the show, but it sets up quite a bit so stick with it.
The second season of the Wire is my favorite.
It's the black sheep of the series (sort of, nothing in the Wire is truly that out of place in comparison to other things) because it has an almost entirely new cast added in that's seemingly unrelated at first, featured very prominently, whereas the rest of the seasons add in new characters and settings that work concurrently with the existing characters on the drug scene.
The European dock workers are Zeph-characters as fuck though, he's gonna love it.
P.S. I think Mad Men as of episode four is mediocre and I don't think it'll ever get past my major issues with it %)
2 is my favorite season simply because of Frank Sobotka, and just how hard-hitting the commentary in it was with the story of the docks. That and Tom Waits doing the opening theme.
I think I had a similar issue with the first part of Mad Men's first season, though. It seemed very forced and by-the-book to me, but I think it does a fair job of breaking away from it and that's when it started to appeal to me.
Of the 2 full seasons I've seen so far I think I prefer season 1, but that may be because I had to write a research paper on D'Angelo, so I watched it a lot more in depth.
The second season owns so far. Plus there's a bunch of evil greek dudes, which is funny for me at the moment in my life lol.
I'm pretty confident none of the main antagonists will be cooler then The Greek.
Omar is the most badass gay man I ever seen.
Clearly the reason they have gay marriage in Maryland now.

didn't wanna spoil the surprise but I figured you'd enjoy The Greek %)
Lol, I just finished this serie and wanted to comment on it and what do I find? A thread revived from the dead. Sweet destiny.
Marathoned it in 2 weeks maybe less, so I'll be watching it again in a slower tempo.
This is the best show I ever watched and I can't help to look at all the other shows as a fade pile of nothingness, really. I think the Wire just dealt a killing blow to everything I was watching, or are going to watch, I'm just not interested anymore.
I feel like I know everything there is to know about Baltimore now, that was the intent of the maker and he did a damn good job.
lol, just watching a normal episode then a car cuts off Ziggy and out comes METHOD MAN
Cheese, lol. I hated that guy. I hated a lot of stupid fuckups, Ziggy too.
I can't say which season I liked the most, but I really liked the political game, you just can see how the system turns honest, caring people into self centered, narcissistic personalities.
Also the subtle hints were a nice change frome all the spoonfedding we got from other shows. For example, you can deduce for yourself how all the cold blooded killers, were psychos, who had something terrible happen to them in their youth.
"There's a thin line between heaven and here (which I heard as 'hell')." Bubbles's quote; best quote of the serie.
The Wire. Just so unbelieveably good. I don't think any show has ever tackled a concept so massively intricate so perfectly. I'm always at a loss for words when it comes to this show.
Omar is indeed my favorite.
Not all the were killers were psychos though. One of the greatest things about The Wire is real the characters were, it would be very hard to make a blanket generalization about their characters like that. The game is just the game.

I was always amazed by how I would utterly hate a guy in one scene, and then find myself nodding along and cheering for a murdering degenerate the next season. Players change, the game stays the same.
@The:
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo WHY WHY WHY?
Currently on season 4 of my 3rd rewatch of this series.
This series is still a masterpiece
Great series, but I wonder if it could be made today tbh.
This scene way way too ahead of it's time. Honestly, though I do wonder how this would be viewed if it came out in this climate. I mean Prez's case of blinding that kid was textbook police brutality only to be followed up by Daniels covering for him. Hell I even see people that claim this show is copaganda among the ACAB crowd. There's definitely some stuff that didn't age as well. And David Simon said in an interview during season 4 that there is no such thing as cops disproportionally using violence against black people.
It's still the best show though.
