We'll have double issue next week (official release date apr 25) .__. That's issue #21 and 22.

By the way, we got #19 last week (official release date apr 11), and will get #20 this week (official release date apr 18).

But on the brighter side, One Piece will have color page of issue #21/22.

But then again, people rumor that One Piece is being less popular now since it's the first time One Piece is placed in #5 in TOC of issue 20. It was always #3 or 4. ~.~

So, does that mean we'll get another early chapter? Since #19 and #20 are exactly a week apart in release date.

Also, does that mean next week is two chapters, and the week after is none?

Notice it's double ISSUE, not a chapter. Since it's Jump the magazine that's taking a break on week of May 2, I don't think anything special would happen in One Piece.

And double issue == not cool. We'll have 2 weeks break before we get new chapter, c365…

And I don't know if we'll get it early... I kinda doubt it. /me shrugs.

In Japanese, it's gappei-go 合併号 and literal trans is combined issue, I think that works better ~.~

I saw that too but it was like that once or twice in 2003 and 2004. Nothing big. Keep watching it and see if it stays that way for a month.

@Buc, Issue 20's TOC is announced, that's why it has so many. They haven't decided #21/22's TOC yet, that's why we only know the specials (first color, center color, one shot)

By color pages do you mean a big picture with all the crew that has nothing to do with the story or pages of the story that have color? I'm hoping for the first.

One Piece should be as popluar as Dragon Ball, I mean I think One Piece deserve all the fanbase like Naturo, Death Note, Inyusha and Dragon Ball.

The color pages will hopefully have Usopp in it.

And I never read Naturo(don't know where to get the scan) but how awful is the Story Arc it's in?

They were talking about the arc that has finished a bit ago, however it's a bit much to call it awful, you can really get tired of all the fighting in that arc

It seems like the color pages always have the Straw Hats in them. Fat chance of it, but I hope the new member (if there is one) is included.

Naruto's getting better these days, but I wouldn't say it's as exciting as Water Seven.

I read somewhere that DB sold 120 million copies in Japan. If that's true, then at this rate, OP may reach its status in a few years. Probably after it ends.

I read Naruto, and even though the manga is getting a bit more interesting after the last arc, it seems like the mangaka isn't putting his heart into it much. I could be just imagining things though.

I have a question, since I'm fairly new to Shounen Jump manga- other than Golden week, is there any other time of the year where they take 1-2 week breaks?

There was like, a 3 week one around Winter Break. I think the rest are just regular breaks. I've only been into raws for about a year, though.

Not sure about the magaizine, although these "Double Issues" happen every so often.

The mangaka however take their own break, and their title is just not in the magazine.
For example, Oda may take a break, and One Piece won't be in that weeks Jump, but everything else is.

We'll have (Japan will have) something called Golden Week. Bunch of national holidays stick together around the end of April and beginning of May. So that's why we have another double (combined) issue around this time.

April 29: Midori no Hi (Green Day, previously Emperor's Birthday)
May 3: Constitution Memorial Day
May 4: Citizen's Holiday (wtf?)
May 5: Children's Day (mainly for boys.)

If they're lucky, sometime they get whole week off without taking any extra PTO (paid time off).

The other one is around New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, everyone takes a break that time. But Buc, I believe it's only 1 week off, too. Just raw comes out super fast, we think it's two weeks off xD Wait… Didn't we have 2 combined issue on year end-beginning? One in year end, one in year beginning.

the real question is, will we have 2 OP chapters the same day or not? (i'm also looking for naruto, bleach and death note double issue, as theses series, too, finished in an extremely high tension at the end of issue #20)

How much a manga sells and how many active people in society actually KNOW it are two very different things.

People still bring up DB on variety programs. I never once saw anyone discussing OP.

I'm just curious, what could you compare One Piece's popularity to? (Anime, manga, whatever)

I can kinda get what you're getting at. It's kinda like how Rumiko Takahashi's Lum is a very iconic figure in Japanese society to this day (People would recognize her.) But you couldn't say the same for Inuyasha or Ranma. But maybe that's a bad comparison.

The thing is from my perspecitive and given the scope of the manga I'm always comparing One Piece to Dragonball. So it's nice to know if I'm all the ball about this or if it's just me being fanatical.

What is Muhyo? I'm guessing that the reason why One Piece was shafted down the ToC last week was because Muhyo is a new series and Death Note was returning from hiatus with a bang.
