Anyone notice that this manga caused the anime to have a plothole? The anime shows that Coby and Helmappo came into the GL through Reverse Mountain, but this chapter says they crossed the Calm Belt instead.

I'm not sure, but i think what the Krieg Destruction theory means is that Mihaks Sword is so powerful because it has a DF inside it. That is the reason why M.could destroy Kriegs huge ship with only one hit.

That theory isn't being very nice to Mihawk! Sure, it's physically impossible to cause a ship to shatter with one slash unless you actually move around the entire ship in the blink of an eye with pure physical speed, but Mihawk probably did just that! Don't forget, it's also physically impossible to make yourself appear three times over without existing in all three places at given fractions within each individual 1/62 of a second by using pure physical speed, but there's over an 80% chance that it's what Zoro used to beat the shit out of Kaku!

Sort of; the theory is actually old (dating back to about March-April of this year), but I unearthed it in light of last week's revelation about Grand Line's second half.

The theory: Krieg's fleet was too massive to get through Reverse Mountain, so he crossed the Calm Belt while sailing arouond Reverse Mountain counter-clockwise. This landed Krieg smack dab in Grand Line's second half, the so-called "new world", where he encountered Mihawk who tore up his fleet. Krieg retreated to East Blue by virtue of the same route, and Mihawk pursued him.

There's one big problem with your theory, Terek – the geography doesn't work out.

East Blue, where our heroes come from, is to the northeast of Reverse Mountain. Reverse Mountain itself is set in the middle of the Red Line. Thus, north and south of Reverse Mountain are giant mountain ranges. To the east is the beginning of the Grand Line, and to the west is the end of the New World region of the Grand Line.

To get to the New World from Reverse Mountain, Krieg would have had to sail through the northern half of the Red Line somehow. From what we saw of it when the Straw Hats approached it, there's no channels, no rivers, no inlets, not even a good place to climb. Certainly no place that could let through a fleet of ships like Kreig's.

And furthermore, if he had gotten to the New World and then tried to turn around and flee, why would he end up in East Blue again? North Blue and West Blue are the closest seas to the New World, and would be much more convenient spots for him to stop and reprovision. He'd only have to pass the Calm Belt to get to one of them, not both the Calm Belt and the Red Line.

It seems much more likely to me that Mihawk was on the first half of the Grand Line at the time. After all, we know that Crocodile wasn't in the New World at that time, either, and we know de Flamingo went to Jaya, also in the first half, some time later, so it's not like the Shichibukai somehow avoid that half like the plague.

I think you misunderstand.

See the section of Grand Line between East Blue and West Blue? That's Grand Line's second half; we know this because Lvneel was in North Blue and Jaya is in Grand Line's first half. So, what Krieg did was instead of going through Reverse Mountain and sailing all the way west around the planet toward Raftel, he bisected the Calm Belts into Grand Line's second half, which is where he met Mihawk. He then easily retreated back into East Blue by virtue of the way he came.

Pardon my irregular drawing of Red Line; it's not supposed to crop up short like that.

Objection! There is something called a Flying Blade Attack. And it's an essential part of the One Piece science. Mr.1 was cutting a building in small pieces with his fingers. T-Bone splitted a Sea King in half and is known to cut up ships all the time. And of course CP9 were all using Rankyaku and with it Kaku and Lucci were splitting the Galley-La HQ, the Tower of Justice, a steel strengthen warship and all kinds of other things. And of course don't forget Zoro cutting Giant Jack, the iron cannons of the Franky House, Aqua Laguna, Puffing Tom and the Enies Lobby Courthouse.
Why do you think Mihawk would have difficulty splitting Krieg's ship without moving around it or having a DF sword? That doesn't sound reasonable. The key term here is Flying Blade Attack and Mihawk is the best after all.

The shoes part was a joke. It's based on a rumor that someone created about Spandam's shoes having devil fruits.

Anyway, why's it so hard to believe that Mihawk ate a devil fruit? Yes, it's cool to think he relies on his own power, but there are certain things about him that seem unreal. Ace's ship is powered by his devil fruit. Kuzan rides a friggin bike using his power.

Maybe he doesn't use his power for fighting, but rather for transportation.
