With all this talk of Dr. Begabank experimenting with the Devil Fruits, not to mention Merry aquiring a "ghost", I wouldn't be surprised if the sea itself also had a "ghost" or "soul"; if this is the case, the sea isn't causing Devil Fruit users paralysis due to chemistry but rather on a metaphysical level.

If this is the case, could the sea have a "chosen" Devil Fruit, id est, a demon the sea likes? if so, would Luffy as Pirate King be this "chosen" Devil Fruit? If acceptance by the sea is possible, could it also be a part of the One Piece?

How is he objects "eat" them. that's fascinating. It's the ultimate power of the devil fruit. Almost total control over it's power without the fear of being trapped beneath the ocean.

The soul of the sea is Davy Jones. Anyone knows that. Robin even mentions him during the Davy Back fight.

Though… the Grand Line eating a devil fruit would explain all the strange phenomenon, like the calm belts.

I called it wrong, so long ago. I guess this needs to be changed.

            Its a pretty good idea.

It was never mentioned that Gol D. Roger was the first Pirate King. Perhaps Davy Jones was the first pirate king. After reaching this point the sea accepts him and the ocean no longer affects him if he has a DF power. After this he kind of assimilates with the ocean and becomes one with it. Then the same thing happens with Gol D. Roger.

It could be that Davy Jones is calling the shots from under the sea and thats why it is so difficult to become pirate kind and reach raftel. To do it you first have to prove yourself to Davy Jones the first Pirate King.

that would change nothing to Luffy : he never learned to swim anyway.

It would make a differece because he is affected by sea stones.

and if he is accepted by the sea he can pretty much go anywhere he wants. Perhaps he could even have control over seakings.
