I think what I like about the videogame threads on this board is that there is like exactly one moronic, unabashed fanboy for each console, so if you ignore all three of them it's pretty much readable.
Sigh. If only my copy hadn't been sat on rendering it useless. Sigh.
For the record, I played Lair, and the controls work just fine. Don't know what reviewers are saying, but my dragon did whatever the hell I told it to do. Only bad thing I remember is that the mission structure was to linear. The gameplay itself was fine tho. So, in this rare instance, I'm callin PS3 conspiracy on that one. But I'll stop there.
Same here, I never really had a problem with the controls. I mean sometimes it wouldn't respond, but that really more my fault than the game's. If you don't mind me asking, which reviews were saying this? I really don't bother to read reviews. Only problem with lair that i found was also as you said, it felt a little linear. Other than that though, great PS3 game and more quality games need to come out like this.
Pretty much every reviewer said that Lair had bad controls.
Some people want clunky controls, apparantly.
Some new rumors from 1up.com
This month, an old rumor resurfaces in a new form, as BioShock is apparently back on for PlayStation 3. Previously, it'd been speculated that Microsoft tied up 2K Games' aquatic adventure as an exclusive, but there's a change in the tide, as the world of Rapture may be Cell-enabled in 2008, after all.
And while Metal Gear fans are pouting over the most recent Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots delay, Kojima Productions hasn't been snoozing about taking the series in other directions. While everyone else is taking their franchises to Nintendo DS, Metal Gear is sticking to PSP, with a brand-new (that's not a spin-off) game headed to the portable, this time taking Snake back to the early days of his career.
So yeah, guess that's good news for people who want more MGS.
@Bad-Beat:

Good thing those people don't want bad controls.

And for every unabashed fanboy theres a polar opposite, the guy who constantly trolls and bashes the console for the sake pissing off fanboys.
Seriously tho guys, not tryin to sound like a fanboy or anything. Lair controls work really well for me. I just don't get what critics/people are saying. It boggles my mind, cuz I sat there and played for hours and it only took me 20 min. tops to master the controls. But yeah, I call BS on that one.
Anyways, glad we get more MGS love. I'm betting the PSP game will be a remake of the two MG MSX games. Which I've been wanting forever.
Christophe Balestra, here, and I’m Co-President at Naughty Dog. I wanted to give a final update on the Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune demo situation.
We’re really sorry about what happened and didn’t anticipate this at all. We just didn’t know people from other territories could connect to the US PLAYSTATION Network Store and download demos … now we do! We’ve been too busy working on the game to wrap our head’s around the infrastructure of the PSN.
We absolutely did not plan the demo to be region locked. As soon as we figured out the problem existed, Sam Thompson called me and I jumped into my car, drove to the office and fixed it right away. It’s an honest mistake and we didn’t try to prevent anybody from enjoying the Uncharted demo. I feel even more sorry because most of the people who experienced the problem are in Europe and I’m European myself.
So again, we’re really sorry about what happened and it wasn’t done on purpose. The good news is it’s now fixed and a new demo of Uncharted has been posted to the US PLAYSTATION Network Store so the entire world can enjoy it.
I knew they'd man up and fix shit.
Now to download again.

Is it me or are video game reviewers starting to make themselves look less credible?
Glad to hear they fixed it BF, enjoy! It is totally worth it.
Ratchet and Clank Future was a hit, if a bit short. The gameplay was fun and it really felt like I was playing a Pixar movie. My only complaint is the camera was a bit crooked at times, but every game in existence has camera problems except for the old side scrollers.
Following up on my last comment, Gamespot didn't seem to think so but what was I expecting from the guys who gave Gears Of Overpour a 9.6.
@Sandai:
Wow just when you thought Europeans couldn't luck out any further.
Apparently, Sony does not think Europe is part of this world.
With the way that they're pushing the PS3 in Europe it's no wonder.
I've heard it's doing quite well there. Europe's probably PS3's strongest market at the moment.
Anyways, the Drake demo is indeed awesome, well worth downloading twice. The character animations are superb, especially on Drake's model. The game is absolutely gorgeous to look at, there are so many minor things that'll leave you gobsmacked.
Take for example, simply running through water, Drake's jeans & shirt become soaking wet, with his shirt becoming slightly transparent, then drying again as you run around. I can't think of one game that has every done that, or at least done it this well.
Combat is a tad stock standard, but works fine. It's like a cocktail of Gears, MGS & Tomb Raider, doesn't look like ND tried anything truly daring or different from the demo. There's a variety of CQC combos, my favorite being the one where you drop kick a dude in the face, or when you repeatedly punch a guy in the stomach, then finish him off with a right hook.
Baring a major review disaster, this demo has solidified my purchase. I can't wait for the full thing.
As awesome as this game is from the demo I've played, I expect a clusterfuck of bad reviews/press for it. Seems to happen with all the big PS3 games these days. Oh well, still seems like a buy so far. Probably won't get it until I finish my other games tho.

I hope so too Midway & 2K jyped for StrangleHold & The Darkness (though I'm really to blame for this.)
this thread too tense needs some laughter

Sucks to be him at least it's not the Red Ring Of Death fiasco and as
for the PS3 being a dust magnet that unfortunately is true.

I think the most impressive thing it does with that is if you only go halfway in the water so half of your shirt is wet and half is dry (the area by the second waterfall is deep enough for it). Really shows how much attention they put into getting wet clothes right.
At first I just thought the demo was all right, I didn't know if I actually liked how it played much, but every time after the first it kept getting better and better. Can't wait for it, now.

Fuck the movie, but a demo of Devil May Cry 4 AND Resident Evil 5 are coming with the movie. Hit
Capcom are some evil bastards.
Link was dead earlier but I see it's working again now.. damn. Well, I'm going to at least be renting Extinction now.
Hit.
Famitsu Console Numbers.
DSL 82000
Wii 35000
PSP 55000
PS2 9400
PS3 56000
360 7000
Looks like the japanese price drop paid off.
Pah! That means nothing! Nintendo has been ahead for months! Sony can't possibly redeem themselves after what they've done! You LOSE Sony! [/obligatory fanboy response]
Good news! But uh….yeeh, can't believe people are willing to trade backwards compatability for a cheaper unit. Guess it must be the Dynasty Warriors release date approaching.
Guess it must be the Dynasty Warriors release date approaching.
It's already out. And that game is a total flop [which is coming from a serious [I]DW fan].
56,000 units is extremely impressive, though.
Actually I think you're right Greg.
1.Mario Party DS 242000
2.Musou PS3 176000
3.SMG 78000
Apparently the Musou numbers are from the first day. Though raj am sad for Galaxy shitty sales, but that's for another thread.

You do know that they are just trailers, right?
It's not surprising. No matter how good or bad a Dynasty Warriors title is, the Japanese devour that shit.

You're saying this having played the game?
You're saying this having played the game?
What, Dynasty Warriors 6? Have already watched many clips of people playing the game, as well as confirmation of clone characters and cloned maps.
The game is garbage, in terms of what Koei should have made it. It still looks really impressive and has a great engine, but they half-assed that shit like none other.
Hm, has anyone here mentioned the recently announced God of War III yet? Well, it's being worked on, dated 2009 for now. Great news.
The only iffy part is that a lot of the former SCEA Santa Monica staff (including David Jaffe) aren't over there any more - Jaffe's still working exclusively for Sony with his new company Eat Sleep Play, but right now we don't know if he's part of the GoW III team.
Oh, and honestly, I'm starting to care less and less about backwards compatibility. Why not just keep the PS2? Selling it would only get me fifty bucks or so. And forty gigs is still plenty of memory for game data; if I'm just going to use a PS3 to play PS3 games, then I may as well get the cheap one that does only that.
Yeah there's an entire thread about it.

Okay, so, you haven't played the game?
-Eye Roll-
No, Greg. Have not put the game into a console and cut it on. However, watching people play entire campaigns with multiple characters is more than enough.
Moreover, this isn't even an issue of how fun it is to play [never said it didn't look fun and enjoyable]. It's an issue that about half the cast are literal clones of one another, and 6-7 of the 19 maps are also clones of other maps. You don't have to play the game to realize how pathetic that is, especially when it's obvious that Koei only did it to whore out an Xtreme Legends expansion pack.
This is coming from a big Dynasty Warriors fan, by the way. But any village idiot can realize that when you only have a handful of unique characters, there's something terribly wrong with the game.

Maybe some of the characters look cloned…because well...some of them are relatives to each other? I mean there's Sun Ce, Sun Quan, Sun Jian, and Sun Shang Xiang for one. And then there's a whole bunch from the Cao family too.

No, that doesn't have anything to do with it at all.
It's because a lot of the characters have very similar weapons this time around.
There's like 12 guys who use spears
9 with one handed swords
There's 2 bow users (Shan Xiang and Yue Ying) who pretty much have the same moveset verbatim.
etc. etc.
After playing Uncharted constantly the past few days, I have to say that this could very well be my favorite game of the year overall for 2007. I really do enjoy it. It really is great overall. I also love how there was a part to it that no previews I saw for the game showed. If you have a PS3, you really should have this game.
Being the poor sucker that I am, I'm just going to borrow Assassin's Creed and Uncharted whenever my friends end up getting done with them. But damn, watching them has been a hell of a lot of awesome.

No, they're just plain clones, unfortunately.
They have very slight variations [such as the final attack in their Musou], but aside from that, they're almost exactly alike, in terms of moveset. Apparently, Yue Ying and Sun Shang Xiang are probably the most differing of the clones, and the only real difference is that Yue Ying's arrows are better for crowd control, as opposed to Sun Shang Xiang's more focused arrows. Still the same moves, though.

Twilight Princess sorta had that. If Link went into the water, his clothes became visibly darker and dripped when getting out. It dries off after standing a couple of seconds or moving around. Although not as impressive, it's kinda been done before.
However, Uncharted's definately a game I would own if I had a PS3.
Played a demo of Uncharted yesterday, and it was amazing. Always been a huge fan of this kind of platforming.
little bit late I guess but gamespot (as retarted as they've been) gave
the game an 8.0 so I guess this is a buy.

REMOTE AREA!? I'M IN FUCKIN' WEST MANLY, MORONS!
The Man continues to keep BF down. Fight the power
But yeah, Uncharted seems like a must buy based on the demo. Gears of War + Tomb Raider is def an accurate description. Although simply on the demo, I already like it more than those two combined. Probably won't buy it until around Christmas tho once I get my money straight.
