New anime is bad

After I fininshed watching all OP episodes I decided to try watch new anime (animed made after 2001). Well - most of it sucks. Hefty. There are NO classics like GTO, Trigun or Cowboy Bebop out there in the marked. What we have is shit like FUMOFFU, which is a complete Ranma 1/2 fabrication.

With ALMOST every anime made after 2001 I get the feeling of - been there, done that. Itslike almost all animes made now is a fabrication of older series (with a few adjustments to the story and better animation).

Between 1995 and 2001 we had true classics like Cowboy Bebop, Neon Genesis Evangelion, One Piece, Berserk, Trigun and Great Teacher Onizuka, Ghost IN The Shell - you name it….

Now were stuck with shit weve all seen before.....

Even though I`m a fan of the series, I dont think Death Note ver will be considered a classic, in 7-8 years it probably will be forgotten unlike Cowboy bebop and Neon Genesis….

Yeah Hellsing is fantastic, but only the manga - don`t like the anime. But as I said twice already, there are a handful relatively good animes made in the past 5 years, but I miss the classics.

Taleran: I think most people would agree that Cowboy Bebop and Neon Genesis are true classics even it they don`t like it. Lupin3 is defintely a classic, but I didn`` t like the show. But you know shows that have a deep impact and are popular through many years like NGE, CB and Lupin will be considered classic, like it or not.

I'm sick of fantasy anime. I'm sick of their trailers, they're so freaking retarted (Excuse my language, but I can't stress this enough.). All it is is a bunch of warriors running around with "epic" music playing in action poses of themselves with an occasional dramatic text saying something stupid like…

I'm sick of anime in general. If it weren't for One Piece, I would completely drop this new era of anime filled with cliche. They're ALL fantasy. Like Inuyasha... That show sucks. I can't even begin to discuss the grossness of this anime.

Real anime had plot, music, and would generally blow you away. Now all you get (excluding One Piece) is stupid armored warriors fighting for a "forgotten kingdom" aimed at all those stupid adolescent boys who think they know anything other than pure shit about anime.

I'd say that this kind of thing is a matter of opinion, I don't see the obligation for someone to think those are classics if they didn't like them.

So… I do agree that anime has become a bit more commercialized in recent years, but if you look back a bit, it's really almost always been like that. (Even during 1995 to 2001)

As far as anime with plot goes... I'd recommend Noein, Gankutsuou or Kemonozume. I've heard Monster has a really good plot too, but I haven't watched that yet.

Edit: Also, that "real anime" stance kind of annoys me. A show can easily be good without having a really deep plot and although good music is always helpful, it's hardly a requirement.
It isn't a special title reserved for only the best of shows either, it refers to Japanese cartoons in general.

That said, I think the majority of anime in general, not even the present day, is pretty bad. There's tons of old crap out there, but it didn't survive over time, just the good ones did. You just have to find the gems.

Not all anime shows from back in the good old days can be considered classic. Nothing has changed except for the fact that anime has become more popular and a larger precentage of anime is getting attention in the U.S.

Ein mentioned Death Note lol, but yea, I agree, its very good, another good new anime is D. Grey Man.

Anyways, personally it all comes down to taste, a lot of the ones that was mentioned as being 'great classics' I couldn't stand. A True classic is something that stands out to you.

As for originality, theres stuff like Death Note, Hikaru No Go, Eyeshield 21 and many others that are very great in originality.

This happens in every genre: movies, video games, American cartoons, comics, books, etc. etc. etc.

There's always some good and LOTS of crap, and as Cosmic said, only the good ones managed to really survive. Of course, in some cases, I really have to wonder how some were ever considered to be good (coughAzumangaDaiohcough).

I had just about given up on most anime as well, until I stumbled upon a few good ones (none that I like as much as OP yet, but still good), such as Bobobo and FMA (well, the manga; didn't care for the show).

Heh, yes. I won't go as far as to say that "all fantasty anime is crap now," but most do appear to be that way, as well as those in video games and novels (check out the RPG Cliches site XD ).

I notice you're talking about animes but when someone recommends one you talk about the year the manga came out, not the anime.

For example, you said 2001 for Bleach, manga yes. Anime didn't come out till 2004.

Eyeshield isn't a rip. Unless you mean it has American Football where I haven't seen much of it but at this moment its one of my favorite Shonen.

The only thing you have to worry about is Saizen, who's taking long on making new episodes so I went and read the manga, which I thought was good too. Eyeshield 21 takes Football(something I don't like) and turns it into war.

Ugh, I hate general statements like this that aren't properly researched. There are tens of thousands of animes out there, I'm sure you've seen every one and can vouch those "classics" (which are barely 10 years old) really blow everything else away.

I think the new comedy shounen like Gintama and Katekyo Hitman REBORN! is very cool and fairly original(I'd say Bo-bobo too, but it's from 2001 and uses every shounen cliche on purpose for the sake of comedy).

I think a problem with some anime is that they can take themselves too seriously sometimes, so maybe more comedy-based anime(and don't get me wrong, Gintama and REBORN! get more action-packed later on) is the way to go.

Amongst others. While not all of them are classics, most of them are quality. And while there are a whole lot of really bad, really bland, and really generic series out there lately, this isn't news. Nor is it new. It's just, as others have said, much more apparent now - for various reasons. You just have to pick out the gems.

If you can't find an anime worth watching, you can always do what I do: pick up another manga.

maybe you have bad taste in anime.. i for one find the newer stuff better than some older stuff.. but if you like some older try outlaw star its really good and kinda reminds me of trigun

That's cause you watched till Episode 13. And nothing really happened way back when. It gets much better afterwards.

I never really got into Eureka Seven either. It just seemed tasteless but I guess that can be my fault since I never even noticed that it was even playing back when Adult Swim played mostly reruns. I found out when I saw it on the net and I tried to watch it but I pushed myself to keep some needed space on my computer for stuff like GTO, Death Note, and Get Backers.
