I would say Manga, but my friend thinks it would be Anime because he has all that color and extra scenes. but i think Manga would've swept the floor with The Anime.

well i think anime is better but well not sweap the floor with the manga because the manga is also good
-
anime,anime ,anime lol
-
I'm not very fond of the anime….
-Its....got a....cheaper feel
-Worse art
-They can't draw hats
-Filler
-UGLY color
-Watercolor backgrounds
-slow pacingThe manga is also the purest form of Oda's creation, a fact alone that makes me diregard the anime.
-
how can a color animated thing be worse then black and white? i agree with you about the filler and cant draw hats but arent you going a little overboard
-
Black and white is more detailed. Panels in the manga that have more dramatic effects such as the whole "DON" scenes which often cover a page or two, or whole rows of panel are easily missed or seem corny in the anime. It's all about details details details. You can even watch Oda improve his artistic style throughout the manga, slowly changing his characters to adapt with the current feel.
-
you got me there but still the anime isnt that bad
-
I personally prefer manga in most cases too, definitely for One piece. I agree with most of what Zephos and Baratie said above. Although I do like the music and voices in the anime, I like the drawings a lot more in the manga, including the black and white aspect of it. I guess I like teh details in the manga over those in teh anime. Although OP anime is really good too.
-
MANGAAAAA!!!
It has much more detail, it's easy to flip back and read back if I missed any detail, I don't need extra device to appreciate it (while in Anime, you'll need TV or computer), it's the original, and it's better for the eyes! :D
What's the choice for "other"? … One Piece novels?
-
Manga, I don't like anime at all, atleast not one piece anime because it looks stupid.
-
  i cant belive what im hearing. where is the music voices and all that stuff
-
The manga. At first I was kind of neutral, because I saw the anime before reading the manga.
But when I started getting into the weekly chapters (the beginning of the Combat round of DBF), I fell in love with the Davy Back Fight. I didn't download any RAWs until they were to Long Ring Long Land, and I was pretty excited.
Then I was horribly disappointed. Everything was going fine so far, but as soon as Foxy trapped Shelly in a net instead of actually shooting her, it all kind of went downhill. Not to mention they pretty much screwed with the concept of the DBF itself… I didn't like how EVERYONE AND THEIR MOM participated in Donuts Race, but I guess I could live with it. The Groggy Ring game was done fine. But then they threw in that dumb LOLLERSKATING game, and threw in all those retarded looking filler characters, and I was pretty annoyed. The next two games were pretty interesting (Dodgeball and Redlight/Greenlight), but then we came to Combat, which was the part of DBF I had read and re-read the most. Don't get me wrong, it was very true to the original, but here I saw the gap between Oda's art and the animators'; a little too big.
So yeah, manga for me.
EDIT:
Regarding manga's art versus anime's, I always think of this scene:Manga:
Anime:
The Manga's just has more emotion and power, like BAM!, while anime… falls short. Sure, the voices and music should compensate, but... they just don't for me. Oda's art seems more emotional and powerful than any sound.
-
So….why is there "Other" as a choice?
I like the manga more, it has Oda's actual art which I appreciate more than some animators who are trained to copy Oda's style. But, I do enjoy the anime, the music is good and the voices are nice but overall I still prefer the manga.
-
definetly manga i found the anime to be badly paced and pretty dull compared to the manga so i stopped watching after the alabasta arc.
-
Now, with my previous post I'm not saying the anime is worse than Pol Pot or anything, I still enjoy it, I just find the manga to be more enjoyable.
-
Heritic my thoughts exactly why is there an other choice. as far as the pictures that Cap'n Carter showed us, what the hell the manga looks way better then the anime(in that position)
-

So….why is there "Other" as a choice?it is for the ones who like/dont like both manga and anime.
-
no offense but the people who dont like one piece should not be here.
-
one word: "fillers"
thats why manga is better than anime
-

One Piece stage plays, they're the best B).
Manga. Although I admit it's more of about preference of the form the media than One Piece being actually better in the comic form. But then again, no matter which angle I'm looking at it, the One Piece comic is better than the cartoon adaptation. At least the original is closer to a work of art than the cartoon ever is. Dunno whom would win a fight though :P, the anime is heavier but the comic is faster and more technical fellow.
-
If I knew what a "Pol Pot" was, I'd agree 100% with Carter. Yoska's also on the money.
-
Pol Pot was a brutal Cambodian dictator. I would've siad Hitler, but that's a bit overused.
-
you could also have said stalin, saddam hussein,Che guevara, fidel castro, or george bush, :P
-
I haven't seen the anime, so I say manga. I've seen two of the movies and the manga is better. I know the movies and show aren't the same, but whatever.

Amen to that brotha.
-
manga. i do like the anime too, but even though colour and sound and movement are nice and all, it just misses the certain something the manga has.
-
No contest. The anime is pathetic when compared to the Manga.
-
well, like some of the guys have already said…the story just flows better in the manga. it doesn't hurt too much that the artwork is incredible, and that every arc seems to be an oppurtunity to get even better.
with that said however, when i sit down to think about it, i still find myself loving both the manga and the anime equally. yes, there are fillers, but i the end it's all worth it just to hear Hirata Hiroaki as Sanji  , Yamaguchi Kappei as Usopp and Yamaguchi Yuriko as Robin. the casting for the whole crew is perfect, but these three are my top favorites. plus the soundtrack work is just too good.
this arc has become my favorite. and as much as i already do love the moments in art, in print, i am VERY excited to see them animated...especially the part when the sea train sets off...robin reminiscing, nami calling out her name...
sanji getting on board and getting caught...

I never changed it, look you QUOTED it, it never had the word "suck" in it.
Gee, please don't say the anime is better, you might change people's minds about reading the Manga! :o
-
lol you got me there hahahahaa
-
The Manga is so much better
Like Cap'n said
Oda's art has so much emotion and power in it
The anime is just….yeah it's the anime
It's dull and the detail isn't put into it as much -
Although they both are good, The manga would take the lead in my opinion.
In the anime the drawings arn't consistant most of the time and I HATE fillers. It just ruins the magic of the series. So the manga is just more into the story without gay sideplots around every turn.
Plus, the art rules.
-
I like 'em both. I like the manga a little more because.. well, I edit it. shrug I can't help but be partial. But I like seeing scenes in motion. There are some things that don't convey as well on paper as they do animated… like Sanji beating the holy living crap out of Kurobi. In my opinion, that was way cooler animated than it was in the manga. That's just an example.
And, to be honest, I don't care if people agree or disagree with me, it's just my opinion. No need to quote me and disagree.
And for some of you, you don't need to brutalize the anime to show how much you like tha manga. They're both good, they both have their good and bad points, leave it at that. You know who you are. Feel free to express your opinion, but try to be respectful of others while you're doing it. Again, you KNOW who you are.
I'd also like to add, I kinda like the filler. But then, I also like true to the series fanfiction, which is kinda what filler is to me.
-
I prefer the anime. I disagree that the manga conveys emotion better. It can, for example when the 'don' moments are in the anime, they are often not as good (Sanji on the airship in skypiea), but Arlong arc IMO was done way better in the anime. The Luffy-Nami scene before going to Arlong park was better, especially when they showed the other 3. Im the manga they never showed them walking toward arlong park either, which annoyed me because that was one of my favorite scenes.
Also, fighting is much better in the anime. Crocodile for example. I could never tell what was going on in the manga, but it was completely clear in the anime and New World Symphony added a great element to it, making it my second favorite anime scene.
Of course Oda's artwork is better in the manga, but that doesn't really convert me. When comparing scenes, the anime is better IMO.EDIT–--
Who voted Other? -
The anime's art often times feels rushed and cheaply done, whereas Oda's artwork is always so nice looking so I go with the manga unquestionably. I do like most of the music in the anime and I think all the voices were cast well, but in the end it's the superior artwork in the manga that I go with. A well drawn picture can convey a lot of emotion that I feel is missed in many scenes in the anime.
-
ah i am happy that most people agree with me, because cheap anime is nothing compared to the great manga.
-
The anime is good, but I personally prefer the manga. The characters come to life more in the manga, in my opinion, than in the anime. And those ugly fillers are a thorn in my side that I wish I could just pull out and be done with.

**Alot of confusion involved with manga art can be blamed on bad scans. Or scans in general.
In actually seeing the tanks, its crystal clear.
-
argh!!
manga >_<
I only watch anime because I'm a fan…so I have to watch it XD
but I'll admit...
some aspects of the anime are really good
(like voice acting...wheee X3) -
Probably the Manga. Although the anime itself is really good. I would say: Manga - 51%, anime - 49%, or something among those lines.
-
I like them both a lot.
The manga is Oda's original creation and most of the artwork and pacing is better in the manga. Also, the anime can't compete with the DON scenes in the manga.
The anime on the other hand has excellent music, IMO anyway and does better with some emotional and comedic scenes. Sanji leaving Baratie and the march on Arlong Park was much more emotional and enjoyable in the anime due to the music and Luffy telling Yosaku to put down his food and Sanji and Zoro's argument about Nami's breasts was much funnier in the anime. Both of those were just one of those things that just are at their funniest when they're animated and not just a drawing on a page.
I may have written more for the anime, but I still have to choose the manga. Nothing can beat Oda's own original creative style.
