Eh, the nearest theater is in Brooklyn. I'm just going to wait another week for the DVD.
One Piece The Movie - The Desert Princess and the Pirates
-
-
I hope it comes in Widescreen >_>
EDIT: Haha
it's only 20 freakin bucks? Well this is a treat
http://www.amazon.com/One-Piece-Movie-No-8 -
Let's not think that FUNimations treatment to the Dragonball franchise reflects how all of their properties are released. The movie will surely be released in widescreen.
Anyway… Where and how can I use this "theatre locator" you guys keep talking about ? I'd like to see if the theatre showing it is within reasonable distance of my house. 45-Minutes to an hour is probably my limit. Maybe farther if it's Saturday…

Go to this site. Scroll down until you see the bit for this movie, then click "Find A Location Near You", and it'll guide you through the rest.

Not playing anywhere near me.
:( -
Dammit. I was sure my local theater would show it. They had a showing of that god damn Naruto movie. But shit, no theaters in all of PA? Not even the big ass theater in Philly? Shit.
…Shit. I built up some self hype to see this. And possibly meet OP fans in my area. Not effing New York or Jersey.
Shit.
-
Hehe, I just noticed that LJ is advertising the movie's dvd release at me.
Well, the closest theaters to me that have the movie are LA and Carlsbad. Drivable distances, but we'll have to see.
-
I live in IL, but I'm going to the one in Davenport because it's closer to me than the one in Peoria is. And when I say closer, I mean 30 minutes closer…. I'm gonna have to be on a 3 hour roadtrip there and back. Well, if it means One Piece on a giant screen....
Really? Any chance you'll give me a ride there? D:

Yer so friggin lucky. Closest for me? 200 miles. XDD I'm going anyways. I might never get this chance again.
-
The closest one is 48 miles from me. I'd consider myself lucky, but since I'm not old enough to drive and no one I know in real life likes One Piece, I'm gonna have to pass up.
-
I'm with DW on this one. I'm not going all the way to Brooklyn or New Jersey just to see the movie when the DVD's coming out 10 days later.
I was pretty sure it'd be playing at a place near my town, ah well….
-
@Lobster:
I meant like… they surprise us with a few dubbed specials in there, along with a preview for the DVD box set, along with a preview of the what's "coming soon to CN" (like some more Eneru Sky Piea scenes), along with some extended scenes from the movie.
I saw the Japanese DVD menu for this movie once. It just had
-movie
-promo for feudal island special
-promo for another feudal island special
-enis lobby ending promo
-promo for some random anime movie I don't recallI don't think One Piece DVD's normally have extended/removed scenes on them. I know for sure the 6th movie didn't.
-
It's weird. I checked a few days ago and got a listing in VA, about 60 mi from me, but I just looked again and it's gone. It won't give me any results anymore, and I can't find the VA theater in the whole list.
-
Is anyone going to the only theatre in WA?
My sister and I are planning to go on Friday - even though we'll probably have to entertain ourselves beforehand. Just wanted to know if I should plan to see anyone there.
-
I dont' understand why 8-9 theatres in Michigan are playing it, but nowhere else in the midwest.
Bullshit.
-
Man why is Funi so scared of a full release, if your scared it'll bomb then wait until the show gets twice as popular.
-
Three words: Lack of funds.
-
Yeah, even Naruto wasn't released fully. So that should tell you something.
-
Do you have to order tickets for this, as I seem to not be getting just how you DO that. XD Or is it a movie where you don't exactly need them? Or maybe the tickets will be released on opening day? D: So many questions.
-
anyone know if the theater in brooklyn has a number you can call that is not recording or can confirm that it is showing one piece? because the one in NJ that is getting it is showing Vexille…the other "foreign exchange" movie when everyone else is showing One Piece nation wide on february 7th....err everyone participating at least
-
So the movie is on DVD next weekend, right?
-
It's out on the 19th.
The theatre release is next week.
-
How long is One Piece gonna run, cause it's airing on a school night.
-
HOLY SHIT!!!! THE MARQUE NEAR MY HOUSE IS PLAYING IT!!!!!
Then again, it also played a Care Bears movie last week. Holy shit, I'm there.
FUCK YEAH!
Edit: Odd, Movies.com isnt showing it there. I'll check that out later in the week.
Edit: Odd again, the Marquee website mentions Vexile first.
-
WOOT! Monroe at 10 PM!~ I'm so defiantly going.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!
I'm sorry…I'm sorry...
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Seriously man, 200 miles to see this crappy movie? If you're rich and got that kinda time on your hands, then good on ya.

Hey hey, I traveled 6 hours to see the Fullmetal Alchemist movie, so props to him. D:
-
Sorry, but I consider traveling a far distance to any movie ridiculous even if I'm a huge fan. And for a movie of this quality, even despite it's One Piece…seems pretty pointless.
-
I agree in the point in which I would rather buy the DVD if it was just a tad bit closer than theres in problem in throwing away 10$ to watch it in FULL SCREEN!! with THX systems. And last but not least ,popcorn to throw at the other OP fans to start a conversation to avoid part of the movie.
-
I think the chance of meeting other OP fans there isn't great. The theatre would more than likely either be pretty empty and/or have people who just want to see an animated movie.
-
No, I'm pretty sure that the ONLY people who will be there are going to be One Piece fans
Seriously man, 200 miles to see this crappy movie?

Or maybe a bunch of lil screaming kids who were fans of the 4kids dub will be there.
Wouldn't that be a sight to see?
-
Anybody who thinks that real One Piece fans won't be there have obviously no idea what they're talking about.
-
I'm pretty sure that ONLY hardcore One Piece fans will be there. This movie has gotten zero advertising on television, or anywhere for that matter. (outside of the internet and cons) Dubbies, or people who aren't already fans, won't even know it's going to the theaters.
And I don't even know where it's airing. 5 miles past the center of the earth? One theater per 200 mile radius? It's a "special" showing for only 3 days. It's not like it's even getting Select Theater release.
-

Funi shoulda put this movie out like, after skypiea which is when i think One Piece will have enough popularity so that this movie would get better funds.
-
So yeah, I've got three theatres playing nearby me here in California, and they're all showing the movie. Once.
At. 10. O'. Clock. At. Night.
The hell?! Either they put it there on purpose to see just how dedicated the fans are to see One Piece in theaters, or the theatres are pretty sure it's going to bomb, and put it that late to avoid taking screentime away from other movies.
Either way, I hope to high heaven that they add more (earlier) times.
-
Well, Naruto was on only at one time too so, yeah… At the very least One Piece stays on for 4 days.
-

I'm not rich. I've just got a 3 hour roadtrip to make. I've wanted to see One Piece even if it's a crappy movie on a giant screen since I first read it.
-
Agh, I may have to rethink going to this thing. Maybe I'll just buy the DVD…I hate saying it too, but I'm just too confused and I guess I'll call these guys when Dad gets back, I'm just hoping it won't be too late then.
It's not like I don't want to see it, but things have gotten complicated for me personally.
-
I've been looking everywhere for locations, any links? I really want to go see this for my birthday
(EDIT) nothing near me, damn

I don't need to have seen it to know it's a crappy movie. A lot of people are giving facts, and tho one's opinion is just theirs, it seems pretty trustworthy. Not to mention I trust Greg's opinion more than anything.
I feel confident that this movie is shitty, I'm still gonna buy the DVD and watch it, but the only difference I see after such will you wont be able to say what you said at the end of your post to me again.
Seriously, get over your Vivi boner.

That movie was by far the worst One Piece movie ever made. It was rushed, important points of the story were changed, and Vivi was even more pathetic than usual.
And I don't understand how someone could honestly be attracted to Vivi. She's down there with Kokoro and Lola on my list.
-
Damn, any theaters that are close to me aren't even in my state! No offense, but I'm not traveling all the way to New York or Virginia to see the movie.
I'll stick with the DVD. =/

I liked movie eight far better than movie one. The story was rushed and very important story elements were left out, I didn't know what the hell was going on. But the animation was great, and what really mattered in the movie for me was how certain scenes in the anime were reacted and with different music and animation. In that category, the movie did an awesome job. And I'm getting sick of you artards hating on Vivi. :getlost:
-

No? Movie 5 sucked horribly.
People say that 1 and 3 were horrible. And 7 wasn't that great either.
-
So this movie is playing in U.S. theaters? I did not know that.
-
Movie 8 just feels like it was forced onto us because the One Piece movie council wants to release a new movie every spring like they always do just for profits.
But the movie council didn't know the outcome of Robin's fate due to the Enies Lobby Arc not being concluded in the manga yet so instead of making another movie that couldn't fit into the canon (referring to Movie 3) they did this Arabasta recrap (yes it's a joke).
I for one don't exactally despise this movie despite my previous statement as it is a good way to enjoy the Arabasta arc without having to sit in a Gan Fall (God) awful chair and try to watch over 950+ minutes (Arabasta arc only; 92 - 130) of episodes.
