      So heres the deal:

      My grandma is very….....ummm.......controllable/bitchy.

She bought my mom this house I am currently living in (some shit happened in the past which led to my grandma buying this house).

But my mom still has to pay rent, utilities, and she has to fix things that break.

Anyway, a while ago my grandma discovered my dad came over our house (my grnadma hates my dad). And that same week we got an Eviction letter.
But after some negotiation with my grandma, we earned the right to stay in our house.

This past Saturday, my grandma and my step-grandpa, if you will, came over to clean the yard, because frankly, with school and stuff, I dont have time to mow the lawn, so the grass had gotten pretty tall. While they were here, my grandma saw my mom has gotten a nose-piercing. Now, my grandma is one of those hardcore christians. So she called my mom satanic and shit happened. When my brother got home from his PSAT test, my grandma confronted him and told him that after she came back from Nicaragua, that she would sell the house, in other words, kick us out.........again. And all because of a fucking nose-earing.

My question is, can she really do that? All because of a nose-earing? I mean, she does own the house, so I guess she can do that, but is there anyway we can go against her or something? I mean, my mom and the rest of us are tired of moving from place to place. We have just gotten settled in, and she wants to kick us out.

Is there anything my mom can do?

did your mom sign anything, like a contract, etc., that said that you are now renting this house ? or was it just an oral agreement between her and your grandma?

if nothing was signed, then you're most probably screwed.

(pls note, I'm not familiar with american law, just giving my opinion.)

i, too, am not familiar with american law but i think it's forbidden to kick out somebody while it's winter, so you should have a few months left to think about it.

my opinion: with a grandma like that, move, get your own house and don't depend on her. that or your mother removes her nose earing.

Yeah, if shes the owner she can. However if you did sign anything you should have a set date to be out of there, you can't just be thrown out in a day or two.

I guess try and reason with her again before you have to be outta there.

However if you didn't sign anything…....get packing.

I am gonna asume the states is like canada, where, each province/state has their own set of laws. That said, try looking it up on the net.

This may or may not apply where you live, but I've seen both ends of the stick, so I know my rights very well in Ontario. first, acording to ontario law, if your grandma does not live there, but is charging you money to live there. That makes her a landloard. If she is living there, she is just a roomate. This makes a big difference. Landloards have to follow the "landloard tenent act" in ontario. Roomates can do whatever the hell they want with their subletters.

I asume, she is your landloard. Therefore, again, acording to ontario law, she has to give you 2 months (60 days) notice that she is evicting you. She also has to go through a shitload of paperwork to kick you out. (you can laugh at her for that) After the 60 days, if you are not out, she can legally take you and your stuff out for you, and change the locks. I also know, (acording to ontario) that if you leave your stuff there more than 30 days, it is then considdered her property, and she can do what she pleases with it.

Now, I understand, that every place has different laws, but I thought this would give you an idea about what's going on, and a place to start. If you know other people in simmilar rental situations, you can ask them if they know anything.

god, your grandma is a control freak with no sence of reality. your mom and your brother, and you, would be much happier if you did everything possible to get away from her and not let her have control over you.

And about the grass. You could get it done one day, instead of coming on AP. Then you won't have to hear your grandma bitch. 🙂

lol. Or mow the lawn instead of watching anime.

Even if your mom signed the contract, your grandma can still kick you out if the contract said something like "the contract can be terminated with 30 days advance notice" or something.

Yeah, check with your local rent law stuff… There may be some special case if you are blood related... ... not sure :x
