Sooo… I started this thread for posting random sketches of One Piece characters. o_o Um, generally I don't do fanart buuut I like Oda's style and his characters, so I've gotten into it. ^^ It's been so long since I have been able to do much drawing, but I really wanted to get back into which is why I am starting this thread. I am a university student so it's unlikely I will be posting much more than sketches. Anyway, here's a couple fairly quick computer sketches of Robin to start with. ^o^

I have some stuff in my sketchbook too… so I will be posting more soon! I mostly draw the ladies because I suck at drawing males. This is also something I wanna work on... because I'd love to be able to draw Zoro and Sanji. x3

Oooo! These are very pretty, your style is a little more on the gothica type style, the second picture looks very Tim Burton-ish to me. I think it fits Robin perfectly. Keep up the good work.

Nami. :3 Um I couldn't draw the legs so I cropped 'em out. xD They came out looking like "blah". I am thinking of doing a redraw of this, full body, and colouring digitally… as I kinda like the pose. ^^ Oh and I couldn't remember what her tattoo looked like. >_>

I'm not gonna lie.. I CAN'T draw guys. -.- Zoro is pretty manly so it's hard… hahaha. Well, he does have his feminine attributed (quite a bit actually ^^). But anyway it is something I wanna work on. =X Again, couldn't remember what the swords look like.

Ooh, I dig that style. Yeah, your girls are better, but they're kickass enough on their own. Sanji still looks pretty awesome, though.

Thanks for the comments so far. I do agree that Zoro is looking rather young… I think I'll need to refer to the manga more in order to get a better grasp of his "look". It is because I am so accustomed to drawing "cute/sweet" feminine faces that I am having trouble with him. But anyway, for now more ladies... Just a warning... I am a fan of the female anatomy and its curves, and so it is something you will see in my drawings... ::coughcough:: Anyway, if it is somethng you are not comfortable with then... I apologize, but it isn't something I am going to change. I am not sure about the policy for posting nudity, but for now here is a (barely) clothed Robin...

Any comments up until this point would be useful… will probably colour soon so if you see any flaws please point them out now. Also I was considered adding some things like extra arms, and shorts, as well as some detail here are there (to the bra, boots, hat...). So yes, let me know what you think.

Edit: Oh yes, and the photo I used as reference cut-off mid thigh so... the rest was improvised. =X I gotta say, legs/feet give me a hell of a hard time... they are so long and bendy... and its very difficult to get the angle right. >_< But I gave it a shot. x_x

Other then the heels of the boots, I think you did pretty well kat!:happy:And that devil robin pic looks great too. keep it up!

Your style is awesome Kat, that Robin picture is great. My only suggestion would be too possibly slim down the arms a bit, they seem a little larger in proportion compared to the rest of the picture. Keep up the good work Kat!

You did a good job on that! I really love her torso and face… her arms seem kinda long, they make her legs look short. Also, her back leg... there's something about it, like there's not enough depth.... I know she should be walking so her back foot should be slightly raised, and show some weight on it (just on the ball of her foot if that makes sense) It does look like you tried doing that, it just needs a bit of tweaking ^^

But yes, lovely job~ Good luck on finishing it!

I blame Oda and J Scott Campbell for me drawing really exaggerated women.
Realistic is fine and all, but sometimes a little stylization is nice. And I am certain that Oda does know his anatomy well, which is why he stylizes the way he does, and pulls it off well.

Ah, I'll have to add you then, since I'm on DA too~!

And I agree with the changes you said, that should fix that back leg XD

Buuhan: I am finishing up the lineart sooo… when I'm done I can send you a high res version of it to colour or whatever. However, I have NO webspace (I used to have like 5 different accounts.. but now they are gone)... except for photobucket that only let you post up to a certain size (which is too small). I guess I can post it on devART or something then link it. And ok if you want I'll omit the bikini in this version, but I don't think I can beat the sexiness that is Dragon Warrior's drawing....

@ kat: Alright, but I don't suggest posting it on deviantart in high res, http://www.imagevenue.com/ will probably host it, as far as I know it doesn't resize unless you tell it to and the largest filesize allowed is 1.5 mb. Nothing special really. I just think the left leg's boot could benefit it if you would put a bit more work into it as I think it's the least finished part of the picture and it also seems to miss the line, the zip I believe, which right leg's boot already has. But really, it's fine. And as I said: awesome.

I don't know what's the mods' official stand about nudity but I don't see why there would be anything wrong about it as long as it's "tasteful" (unlike Buuhan1 sig) and does not contain straightforward sex. It's art and we aren't living in Texas after all - well most of us. Plus I think somebody already has posted a life drawing picture/painting anyway.

Sorry, I got too lazy to edit out the bikini. Feel free to do it yourself though. Also, the lineart is quite messy/thick because of the way I colour... If you want to clean it up you are more than welcome. BUT anyway... colouring is almost done :D! Too bad I have class early tomorrow.

From the low res it looked like the bikini was just an extra you drew and threw on her to censor it, didn't know you were actually planning on editing out out and she had it in the original image.

As for my colouring style… I guess I try to imitate the style of oil paints? For me the key is in blending colours to create a "richer" look. Like, for example to make the back leg look more distant... I blend in some blues and greys. As for where highlights go... it's not something that a tutorial can teach you. Yes you have to keep in mind your light source, but as far as knowing where precisely highlights will hit and shadows fall.... you'll become more intuitive at it after studying from life, or even just from photos. Try gathering an archive of stock photos of the human form in different poses (nude is always better). You can then look to these to get a sense of where highlights and shadows go. Anyway all it takes is practise and a lot of it.

Well, I've been digitally coloring for awhile now, and I've gotten to the point of me not being able to tell where shadows and lighting goes that I'm just going it the Kingdom Hearts II coloring method on their characters, of putting the shadows around the rim of the flesh and then putting the light in the middle in places.

That is very good advice! I can totally agree with you on that, drawing from life is the best way to learn indeed. Which is why when I do get a wacom, I'm gonna take my laptop around places and try coloring scenery and things like that. I wish I could get Corel Painter for my laptop, but I don't know how big it is ^^

And we are in the same boat… with finals and all -_-; I have 2 more weeks to go till graduation...

I have the grapphire 3… Smallest/cheapest one, but it is still very nice. It takes awhile to get accustomed to it, but after you do a mouse is uncomparable (is that a word?). Anyway....

I've been working on colouring some of the manga pages. I'm thinking of doing favourite scenes and such.... Most colourings that I have seen of the manga until now have been godawful (with the exception of a few... very few), so I hope to do the work better justice. If anyone wants to recommend specific panels for me to colour, please do so. I will be imitating Oda's colouring style that he himself used for colouring pages of the manga (in older chapters).

Also, handed in my final, final project today! Only one exam left.

Whoa this is amazing. Only slight error I can find is that her (her) right upper arm is a bit long (hopefully no one else has pointed this out yet), but man, everything else more than makes up for it.
