Oh, you didn't know? Cadeduck is Oda himself! Ya know, Oda visits this forum once in a while and posts what'll we see in the future. ;)
Chapter 431 "Fist of Love" Discussion
-
-
@Cakeduck:
Okay, here's the frickin' deal.
After being cornered by Admiral Coby for the tenth time,
the three remaining straWhats have the choice to use the time machine that
Franky and Usopp built in a hurry, or face a certain death.
They manage to get it working in the last second, but it malfunctions,
sending Usopp to one time and Luffy+Zoro to another.- 36 years before the great pirate age. -
Luffy and Zoro land in the middle of the grand line, hitting their heads on a piece of rock.
They both get severe amnesia. Zoro's need for craploads of sleep turns into Narcolepsy.
Since there's no Coby in this era, they eventually manage to end up in Fuschia Village, East Blue.
Zoro hooks up with a chick, has a few kids, but Luffy's blood makes him itch to sail the seas.
He becomes a pirate, going by the name Gol D. Roger.
As there's no one of Coby's caliber around, his infamy skyrockets. After nearly two decades, Luffy returns home for a short while and knocks up Zoro's 16 year old daughter.
Zoro's pissed.
He decides to join the navy, and using the name of Garp and a piece of a dog to cover most of his face,
he starts hunting "Gol" Down. During this time, Zoro's daughter gives birth to Luffy and Ace's dad.
The baby manages to give her an internal bleeding by kicking her in the womb as it exists. She dies. :sad:After another 15 years or so, the navy manages to catch GoLuffy'DRoger, now known as the pirate king.
ZoroGarp laughs heartily as they shove long, sharp things deep into Luffy's body.
Then he goes home, adopts his grandson as his son, and never mentions Luffyroger being his "son's" true father. What happened to Usopp, then?
Well, he eventually got his wish and became a captain.PROOF:
Wait, so what you're saying is:
Luffy (turned G D Roger) ~> Luffy's Dad ~> Luffy, so Luffy is his own grandfather?
And then again,
Luffy's mom (or Zorro's daughter) + Luffy ~> Luffy's dad ~> Luffy,
so Luffy actually made love to his own grandma ? That's not right man… -
Lol…. this is kinda like Futurama. Where Fry is his own grandfather...
-
garrp and roger might be brothers or cosins
-
-
I was under the impression that Garp & Roger were long lost lovers.

Yes, what I loved it that Oda may have given a name to an old shounen cliche. It's not Garp's strength that hurt Luffy–it's the Fist of Love!
Every time Chichi punched Goku, or Sakura Punches Naruto, or Kaoru beat up Kenshin--it had nothing to do with their strength--they just know the fist of love! However, it only works on people you love...
Nami is, of course, the master of this technique. She loves her crew so much...
...with her fist.

yeah….. Nami is the master of "Fist of Love"....... Luffy gets the bulk of it though.... since he gets hurt most of the time.... lol....
2 more days still another round of speculation, plotline shocker...etc...
-
Hooooooooooly shitballs.
I'm now fairly sure that GR is indeed Dragon and Luffy's dad and a Logia.
Of course that could VERY well not be the case at all.
Oh yeah, from another thread I see many people are still under the assumption that Roger is dead.
Well, stabbing Ener didn't do a whole jolly lot now did it? ^_~
-
After Garp's revelation about the Fist of Love, Nami will have a Catch 22 about using it on Sanji anymore: if she does smite him, it's a sign of her LUUURRVE, but if she doesn't smack him, it's also a sign of her LUURRVE.
-
Well, stabbing Ener didn't do a whole jolly lot now did it? ^_~
Well, Ener was a proven Logia.
I don't even feel up to predicting the connection to the other mystery men. I guess I'll sit back 'til I'm knocked back.
-
Well, Ener was a proven Logia.
True! And Roger just might have been as well. ^_~
It's not really my scene to predict mysteries in OP. But every once and a while an idea pops in. If I'm wrong no big deal but I'm most certainly not into debating the possibilities to death ^O^
-
Oh yeah, from another thread I see many people are still under the assumption that Roger is dead.
Well, if he's alive, then I guess Kuro's plans were all really full of poop.
-
If this Adam wood is so tough, how the h3ll did they cut it into planks?!?! D@mn cartoon logic!
I believe I too must perfect the "Fist of Love" (not to be confused with the "Love Punch" Nami used in Alabasta, though I wouldn't mind experiencing that one a few times ;))!!!
-
If this Adam wood is so tough, how the h3ll did they cut it into planks?!?! D@mn cartoon logic!
The same can be said about the seastone handcuffs.:silly:
Also, just occured to me that Luffy was still asleep despite the hole in the wall that Garp created. Dang heavy sleeper.
-
2 1/2 day till spoiler
-
how the h3ll did they cut it into planks?!?!
Blades made of the same shit that Robin's cuffs were :-D
Well, if he's alive, then I guess Kuro's plans were all really full of poop.
? You'll have to excuse my ignorance but what connection does that have to Kuro? Kuro faked his own death. Not Roger's ^_^;
Especially since we now know that Garp is related to Luffy and this will not end in Luffy's capture, it may be possible he arranged for a staging for someone who might be his son.
I'm not saying that this WILL come to pass. But at this point, the possibility exists.

Crazy out there theory i'd boil in ketchup and say "i like it!!!!!". nah seriously, as soon as i figured out who GR was i thought, not bad. though i do hope that Luffy isn't the Pirate Prince.
-
I'm now fairly sure that GR is indeed Dragon and Luffy's dad and a Logia.
Oh no. PLEASE GOD NO.
-
God I loved this chapter. It took me forever to read, surprisingly seeing how I blow through FMA chapters like its no ones business.
I really enjoyed this chapter, I wish peace would last longer than it does in One Piece.
-
Oh no. PLEASE GOD NO.
Why does everyone hate this idea?
Because it's teh ov3rus3d formula GREG! DUR!!!!!1111 LOL!!!!1111
Um…okay, a simillar theme has been used before.
Uh....so?
BUT th3n OP would be unurignul and the suxors Gerg!!!!!1111 LOL
Um….so?
Apparently I'm the only one who thinks it would be a bad idea that Luffy has 100% badass actually coursing through his veins and pumping through his heart. How unoriginal of me.
Yes the concept has been used before, but why would OP instantly turn to shyt if it was used here? Because someone actually expected it? Because it has shown up before? Big deal.
I just don't understand
t3h h4t3
for that concept. As if you'd throw away 400+ chapters of pure unadulterated amazing over an idea that's been used elsewhere and ultimately means little other than that Luffy was born destined for greatness which we already know is true one way or the other.
-
where did you quote that? i can't find the guy writing in l33t…
as for the idea, i'd prefer luffy's father to be part of the crew of roger or something like that rather than roger himself. i'm bored with these fated family lines in shonen. but your point makes sense if you quote what the old man of luffy's village said about fate when he got his first bounty.
-
Apparently I'm the only one who thinks it would be a bad idea that Luffy has 100% badass actually coursing through his veins and pumping through his heart. How unoriginal of me.
I hate the idea of Dragon being related to Luffy because the "tssh I'M YOUR FATHER tssh - NOOOOOO" scene is the most corny bullshit ever and synonymous of piss poor plots and complete lack of imagination, something we can all agree Oda isn't familiar with.
Then I don't see how Gol D Roger could still be alive. You'd think the WG and Marine knew what kind of powers he had and took the right precautions to kill him despite said powers, meaning if he was a Logia they just had to put seastone cuffs on him and there you go.
As for the rest of your rant… Great job at talking alone. I never said it'd turn One Piece into shit. But it would certainly be a ridiculously predictable, unimaginative and useless plot turn. Now if that's what you like, good for you, just don't try and ridicule people who want to be surprised.
-
? You'll have to excuse my ignorance but what connection does that have to Kuro? Kuro faked his own death. Not Roger's ^_^;
Oh. I thought you implied that Roger faked his death. That would make Kuro's full of crap because he inadvertantly did the same thing, and for someone like Kuro who prides himself on his inane plans it would seem that he'd retain zero points for originality if that was the case.
-

Well, that's what I am inferring.
But…I mean...if Roger faked his death, then nobody or very limited people would know so...why would Kuro know?
I never said it'd turn One Piece into shit.
Which is why I didn't quote you. Aside from my first comment I'm not replying to you. We all know you can't shed a tear so I wouldn't even bother discussing it with you. I was responding to all and anyone who thinks along the same vein and the replies have all been as such.
I really seriously do not care how the story turns out.
But, just seeing how obstinate and opposed to it that some people are, I think it would rock balls if it turned out that way.
Whether you want to admit it or not, it is a plausible scenario at this point in the story. And that's not to say aliens landing is just as plausible because evidence to this point has not been proven to the contrary and it would be relevant to the story.
I just can't stand when people say something can't/won't happen because they personally don't want it to.
How selfish is that?
-
We all know you can't shed a tear so I wouldn't even bother discussing it with you.
I don't generally use smileys, but I'll make an exception just for this gem:
Seriously this is the most ridiculous thing I've read here since a certain member send me a pm calling me a MONSTER.

Well that's nice and all, but I never said it's impossible it could happen either. I just stated my disagreement to your theory, albeit maybe in an abrasive way. If you were offended, my bad.
Or weren't you adressing me again?
-
Seriously this is the most ridiculous thing I've read here since a certain member send me a pm calling me a MONSTER.
I really haven't called you anything. I'm just using your own words ^_^; And I'm not about to enter a petty argument but I do recall you being the one who said you cannot stand tearful scenes many MANY times. I'm not saying anything you haven't.
Aaaaand that's the end of that.

I find the bolded line particularly clever. It made me rethink me opinions.
And yeah, Roger or someone we won't expect will probably meet Luffy at the end. I have my personal doubts that Whitebeard or even Shanks will be Luffy's final opponent. So Roger may be alive in some way. However, the World Government seems to be sure that Dragon and Roger are different people.
Speaing of Shanks, I see Shanks as dying in front of Luffy's eyes somehow, hence surpassing Luffy's lament for costing his hero his arm and giving his "flashback" the same tradegy as his crewmates.
As for Dragon being Luffy's father…I don't see why not. Luffy's has some surprising relatives. The commander of Whitebeards fleet, the Vice Admiral who "cornered" Roger, possibly Saul who fought the first BC, and maybe Blackbeard--it depends on how the D's work. If this theory has anything against it, it's the fact that someone predicted it already.
-
Im not sure about this but here i go:
Luffy is about 16-18(i read that some were) years old?Gol. D Roger killed 22 years ago.
4-6 years gap is too mutch.
-
Hm, I'm open to whatever may happen in the story. Anything can sound bad or wrong and turn out good the way it's actually presented. If I were to get an idea in my head that if certain things happen it would be bad, then I'm only setting myself up for disappointment. I think we have a long way to go still before we get to Roger and One Piece and Dragon and all that. (or maybe not?)
I was also just remembering a quote from Oda where he said the infamous "I'm going to kill off a crewmember" thing…We know hew as obviously referring to Merry, but then he continued saying "but people won't be too sad because I'm going to bring back a character from Alabasta". Unless this was a fake quote, could this be about to happen now since Merry is officially dead? Before a lot of people thought he meant Mr. 2 in the sidestory, but I was thinking that now would be a very appropriate time to bring Ace back into the story, since he was a character introduced in Alabasta, it could be him...
-
I haven't read the whole thread, but am I the only one who thinks Helmeppo and Koby aren't with Garp? Last we saw them, they were working under Hina.
-
Well, that's what I am inferring.
But…I mean...if Roger faked his death, then nobody or very limited people would know so...why would Kuro know?
It was more of an offhand comment on how the plot would be recycled, and thus making Kuro's attempt to do the same stunk because he was caught.
I don't know. Roger being alive kind of takes away from the whole mythos and romantizcism around him and One Piece if he's sitting on Raftel waiting for Luffy or something. But whatever, as of know there is no proof he's alive so I'm sticking to that. Now if we'd just address the Usopp and Franky's standings in 432 that'd be the bee's knees.
-
Hooooooooooly shitballs.
I'm now fairly sure that GR is indeed Dragon and Luffy's dad and a Logia.
I got the same feeling.
The Will of Dragon.
-
Luffy is 17, Ace is 20. Roger was killed 22 years ago.
It's impossible for Roger to be either of their fathers.
-
@Pass:

Except if the guy with the asscheeks chin is Roshio the Executioner there's no way the two marine Garp ordered to stay outside weren't Coby and Helmeppo.
-

Weren't those two Fullbody and Jango? I don't recall Coby and Helmeppo ever working under Hina.
-
@Pass:

you got the wrong two persons….
Jango and Fullbody are with Hina.........
and those two with Garp surely are Colby and Helmeppo.......
-
@Pass:

I don't recall that…last I recall Garp took them to Marine HQ.
You can't deny those two people look like Coby and Helmeppo either. -
…I'm now fairly sure that GR is indeed Dragon and Luffy's dad and a Logia. ...
Despite the ongoing dispute how teriffic/shitty this would be - I´d really like to learn what makes you think so. Up to now I can´t quite follow what´s the basis for your impression?
-
I can see how you may get confused–Garp with Coby and Helpemo were in the end of Jango/Fullbody's story.
-
Kind of offtopic: Is it me, or is Luffy missing his right leg in the colorspread? :/
-
Luffy's bending his legs in the color spread.
Just noticed that the Strawhats are wearing GC shirts, does it stand for Galley-La company? -
Luffy is wearing black shorts in the colorspread, that's what makes is hard to see his other leg (btw where was the rest of the crew? I was doing a where's Waldo looking for them but you gotta love Chopper's outfit too).
I'm thinking of making my own Galley-La t-shirts if I can come up with a decent approximation of the design.
-
I can see how you may get confused–Garp with Coby and Helpemo were in the end of Jango/Fullbody's story.
Garp was with them? I didn't see that.
I thought that scene was in the Miss Goldenweek cover story.
