At least we all want to see you happy here.
What's funny is that I ALMOST believed you, until I looked at what has actually been said.
Too many Mao Zedongs, not enough Zhou Enlais.
Story of the world.
Got compared to Chairman Mao and indirectly blamed for the problems that face the world.
That's gonna make a transgender activist who would like nothing more than to help people and solve the world's problems, feel REAL good about herself and her impact.
Just because some people get too heated shouldn't preclude rational discussion on the topic when it comes up. It is, in fact, important, and we shouldn't let the most obnoxious people dominate the dialogue
Got called obnoxious and irrational. I would have thought that after I explained over and over again why it's a form of silencing to dismiss the emotional responses of a non-dominant group as "irrational", that nobody would actually DO IT. But I guess I was wrong. And furthermore, I guess I was wrong about these two people. They were supposed to be in my corner, but I guess an old dude they've never met before and truly know very little about, along with their own liberal sensibilities, are more important to them than just one more angry tranny.
Cool ways to leave AP:
1. Porn posting rampage.
2. WWE style scathing promo post condemning the forum staff.
3. Bomb threat to Cartoon Network.
4. Perona goatse.
5. Bowing out respectfully.
Bad ways to leave AP
1. B.S. strawmen about being disrespected and whining when people don't lavsh you with attention.
This post made me cry, BTW. And I especially like this one because it tells me that I haven't been disrespected, while blatantly disrespecting me and punching me down.
I also like how standing up for what I believe in, is apparently worse than posting porn, condemning the forum staff, and SENDING IN BOMB THREATS. Yeah, that's cool.
I don't think these people care whether or not I'm happy.
You know people actually don't know, how they offend you and why you feel hurt. I think they sorta project their own perspective on you and from that point they don't see anything bad. And since they don't see anything unfavourable in their own behaviour, so when you started to be all bitter about it they started to think you are in the wrong.
You are not wrong, but than again the way you act probably isn't very helpful in resolving the conflict and making them understand what do you mean.
Yes, and I recognize that. But the reason these people don't understand, is because they don't want to.
They don't want to understand these issues. I mean, just look at this shit:
Abraham Lincoln can't be hailed as an abolitionist because he wasn't a slave.
Why? I'm just enjoying this "Obama is a nice guy, too bad he's black" kind of discussion…
It's literally as if they replaced what I said with shit that I don't even know where it came from.
And if that's what's going to happen whenever I try to explain something that's important to me, then why should I waste my time.
I'd also like to point out that nobody cared about this, either:
Museveni has signed the bill which makes talking about homosexuality without condeming it illegal, and also establishes that those who fail to "report" a gay person will face time in prison.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
And once again, people on the page are ranting about how protesting this laws hurts "freedom of expression"
When this laws makes expressing the opinion that homosexuality is not wrong into a criminal act.
It doesn't have anything to do with gay marriage or white gays in Russia, so why should we care about it?
Not necessarily blaming you guys, because there was a lot going on at the time, but it's definitely a trend.
One last thing I have to say is that, despite what anyone here thinks, I AM going to be a hero. I may not have any special skills or talents. I may not be good at animating, or drawing, or writing, or film production, or photography, or music theory, or geopolitics, or translation, or software design. Well actually I might be good at like two of those things. But let's assume that I'm not good at anything. I still have one, or I guess, two things at my disposal: A social conscience, and a willingness to act upon it. The only thing in my life is the cause. The only thing I want to be is the hero. And I've already positively impacted the lives of so many people. My friends, my co-workers at CLI and all of the kids who I've reached through CLI, everyone who has taken something away from my public speaking, anybody who has been inspired by my resilience. The old Taylor would have come away from this thread and killed herself. But not this time. This person who, as DarkFalcon pointed out, you've projected your own perspective onto, is a real living person with a future. And that future has room for success and happiness and laughter and hope and love and a partner and children. Just like all of you. And that future is going to have a happy ending, no matter what you may believe.
