I'm in the process of coming up with a possible fanficiton idea for Azumanga Daioh. In it, I might try to make use of a joke or two using Sakaki's given name. As it's never revealed in either the manga or the anime, that means I'll ahve to make one up.

I was thinking of maybe making her name something quite un-cute (much to Sakaki's dismay). The idea was soemthign either gender neutral, old fashioned and out of date, or just plain odd.

Thanks in advance. I'd appreciate any help.

P.S. For the curious, the plot of the story would be Sakaki and Chiyo-chan each having a dream where they essentially switch places. Sakaki is a cute kid and Chiyo is a tall athletic teenager.

I've never liked the name Mami, but maybe that's just because of knowing English… it would be really hard to go out with a girl I had to call Mami. I'd feel like Ronald Reagan.

I found a site with some babynames in it and I think I found a coulpe of good candidates.

How do these sound?

Taka, meaning tall and noble (an apt enough description of Sakaki)
or
Oki, meaning ocean centered (approrpriate given horrible luck with cats)

Neither are cute sounding, but still decent girls' names.
