It's fun, because hands grabbing for the ass is like hands grabbing for the Ohmu child.
Vander Decken looks a whole lot like Guy Fawkes.
Vander Decken looks a whole lot like Guy Fawkes.
In the sense that he hears a hat, has a mustache, and smiles, yes.
Otherwise, he is nowhere near the same. Giant shoulders, 4 legs, cat mouth, wavy mustache, spiky beard, crazy hair, and a completely different style of dress. Also he acts nothing alike besides wanting to destroy the government, but the rest of his character and motives are very different. What were you thinking.
and @m00n about the Rosetta Stone: um, I think that was obvious. Did you seriously not know about the rosetta stone until you started wiki-searching for things? Everyone has heard about the rosetta stone, and so to point out that Oda probably had as well is pointless. It's like saying that Oda put eneru on the moon as a reference to when america put some people on the moon. O__O Sure, I guess if that had never happened, Oda might not have even imagined it could be a thing, but c'mon. Let's only bring up the shit that many people might not know, as opposed to the stuff that is squarely in the realm of common knowledge.
@JERK:
It's INCREDIBLY different, the movie is a shriveled warped version of the first fourth of the manga with a few random elements from later forced in like the God Warrior.
Wow…like Akira? if that's the case I'll go check it.
Plus the first Porneglyph we get to see in One Piece is hidden in a dynasty tomb of an Egyptian styled kingdom.
What you did there.. I saw it.
Also very interesting fact, it really reminds of the Rio Poneglyph, a key to knowledge.
Van Der Decken could possibly be a reference to "Dead Pirate Roberts" and Inigo Montoya from Princess Bride, in the sense that the original Van Der Decken was his descendant (though the DPR title is passed down), and that Inigo Montoya formed an alliance with another criminal to kidnap Buttercup, just like Van Der Decken joining Hodi to kidnap Shirahoshi.

Well I try to avoid letting the German tranlation names slip in on AP but you got me there
!
huckleberry finn and Tom Sawyer
Wow it's the Blackbread pirates.:ninja:
Law has a yellow submarine that all his crew….live in, maybe....:ninja:
Aww damn it! :D

What? Have you even watched the priness bride, or just heard someone shout the summary of it from a moving car as it passed by?
Or maybe it's One Piece you have a very tenuous grasp on.
1. it is Dread Pirate Roberts, not dead. Not a reference to a ghostly pirate.
2. van der decken is literally the name of the folklore Flying Dutchman. so, he's probably a reference to that, rather than anything else.
3. Inigo is a good guy who was paid to kidnap buttercup the first time, he didn't really "team up" with anyone besides the people he had to work with. Then, when he helps save her, he teams up with the other heroes, whom also happen to be criminals.
4. At no point does the dread pirate roberts team up with another villain to kidnap anyone. This situation is nothing like Hodi and Decken joining forces to destroy the kingdom and kidnap the princess.
5. the only similarities that I can see are that there is a princess, there are pirates, and there is a team-up. In other words, what the hell were you thinking.
I'm not sure why, but Van Der Decken reminds me of Jack Sparrow from POTC.
Maybe the sleeves and his hand gestures ? ^^
Megalo is based off a megalodon, a shark that lived during the Cenozoic Era.
Megalodon means "big tooth", and they might've grown up to 52 ft.
Megalodon:
I liked the thing with the Poneglyphs and that Rosetta Stone. They do look very alike.
tom's bro:
Ha ha that's brilliant !
Haki…

Nuff said.
blank. 'Nuff said.
@THE:
Fixed it for you.
And holy shit. These guys are cool.
Thanks. It would be cooler if someone can edit it adding the walk to arlong park background music. (Title of the song is overtaken)
That was just way too cool, those dudes just bamboozled fifteen lions!
Damn, that's just crazy ! I wish Oda saw this xD
Ha, that was awesome, but it was fake Haki.
They acted like they had it, and it worked, but then the lions realized that they've been had, and the guys leave with their loot.

THIS please!!!

Wow. Amazing! That takes some kintama right there. Makes you wonder who was the first guy to try that… Thanks for sharing! Glad you got the video working in the end.
Light grey!
Roshi was fucking hilarious.
Wow those are crappy quality.
@JERK:
No.
….................
why not?
(I'm referring to revive someone whose corpse is descomposed)
You CANNOT seriously be implying that either Toriyama invented undeath or that the only place Oda would get the idea for undeath was Dragonball.

No, I'm only implying that Dragonball was one of the places from Oda got the idea.
Or you know, Brook being a skeleton is a sight gag based on the standard Jolly Roger.
Yes, but the words that said the Krillin's skeleton (in that image, they aren't traslanted in that image, only there are kanjis, but in the translation that I read he said "a lot of thanks for revive me") seems so dumb words from a sekeleton that I thought they fit well with brook. Probably I stuck my foot in my mouth. Sorry.
The vicious response you get to this idea, is not because it is so terrible, but rather because we've had these kind of "Toriyama invented everything"-posts for a while now. People have to realize that, even though they may have not read anything older than Dragonball, the history of storytelling did not begin with Akira Toriyama. He just as other authors drew inspiration form many sources. And the same sources that he used, were inspiration for others coming before and after him.

really? i thought it was just standard JERK DISEASE…

Yeah…there's basically no way Oda got ideas from Brook from that skeleton of Krillin. There are tons of other pieces of work that Oda could have gotten the idea from that actually have a focus on undead like Brook.
Krilling Skeleton + grey panties = Brook
…
My god
I think no one here really understood what he meant about Krillin and Brook… It's saddening.

I took it as Krillin being a gentlemen by saying, "Thanks for reviving me!", so hes a gentlemen skeleton. So he's like Brooke-er-vice versa, maybe.

It is certainly one of the few times skeletons and panties have been mentioned in the same breath, before brook came along. And it's almost certain that Oda read that page at one point in time.
but I kinda doubt it's the sort of thing that left an impact on his mind. seeing as how they aren't related at all, just jokes that happened to be on the same page.
I think with brook oda thoght of people have skeletons in their closet and what else is in a closet. panties
panties are generally kept in drawers, though.
