As a pretty big comics fan, I'm really excited about this game. Basically, it'll be an action RPG just like X-Men Legends, except you can make a team of some of the most legendary Marvel heroes.

Confirmed Playable characters:

There's word of Deadpool, Spider-Woman, and Warbird being confirmed as playable from a video that was once on the official site but was quickly taken down. I won't try to get too excited until I see it officially confirmed, but goddamn, Deadpool is a dream (he was awesome to use in XML2, too).

Silver Surfer is already confirmed as a hidden character. These are the other rumored unlockable characters: Nick Fury, Daredevil, and Black Panther.

The next gen consoles will have 3 exclusive characters (I have a feeling they'll be Deadpool, Warbird, and Spider-Woman).

Ronin and Hawkeye are PSP exclusives, but honestly, anyone who'd get the PSP one instead of one of the nextgen console versions is nuts.

One feature that's going to be really cool is the costume feature. I've heard that costumes will be kind of a substitue for levelling up, but I'm not sure how it works out. However, there's a lot of awesome costumes confirmed so far, including:

• Captain America: (US Agent, his WWII costume)
• Spider-Man's symbiote suit
• Thor (BETA RAY BILL. BETA RAY FUCKING BILL)
• A good deal of Iron Man's various armors, including War Machine
• Ghost Rider (Vengeance and the Phantom Rider)

I'm having trouble thinking up my tentative team for this… right now it's something like Ghost Rider, Dr. Strange, Thor, and The Thing. I might switch Thor or the Thing for Deadpool or Nick Fury (if he is unlockable). But one of the great things about XML was being able to switch your team around at any time, so… we'll see.

I'll be getting the Wii version, because that's the next-gen console I'm planning on getting right now and the control scheme they have set up for it sounds really cool. It's too bad thet apparently won't be able to set up online play for it yet...

My only gripe so far? Namor isn't playable. Come on! The Hulk and the Punisher would've been cool as well, but apparently other companies own the video game rights to those characters and Activision couldn't acquire them. The Sentry would've been awesome, but I don't think he's caught on with everyone yet, so I can understand him not being included.

Of course I luike the idea, but having never played the Legends games or any MMORPGs, I think looks a little weird. Namor would have been pretty cool.

Awesome, I just got an e-mail from the VIP site, and Black Panther is confirmed as a hidden character exclusive to the next-gen consoles.

I like Black Panther's costumes and it's great to see 1602 Dr Strange got in as well.

Anyway, I heard Spider-Woman and Warbird might actually be amoung the main 20(ish). And frankly I probably will be getting the PSP version. I enjoy playing X-Men Legends 2 anyway, and want to be able to enjoy MUA in a simular fashion. Plus I won't be getting any next gen for a while. Having said that, if Black Panther is indeed next gen exclusive (I've heard otherwise), I might get MUA when I get a Wii.

I'm just dissapointed my favourite X-Men, Nightcrawler, isn't going to be playable.

Well Wikipeida says otherwise but one should always take that information with a pinch of salt. Like I said before, I won't be getting a next gen console any time soon so I'm a bit dissapointed I won't get to play as the Black Panther, but then again I don't really know the character all that well so I can live without it for now.

I just read an article on IGN and by the sounds of it, they may not make it into the game.

Although it's unlikely, does anyone wonder if the Sentry will be playable? I've become quite a fan of him and would love to see him make it into the game. If Superman can be in a JLA game, then I think the Sentry can be in a Marvel game.

I doubt it, since he's still pretty recent and I don't think he's had the chance to catch on with fans. That and I haven't heard anything about him being in.

Ronin is pretty recent as well (if you ignore the Echo side of her past). I am aware not all of the Sentry's powers have been revealed though which obviously doesn't help, and not many people know about him.

Yeah, Colossus came from left field. I'm glad Thor has his Ultimates look (my favorite version of Thor). The Thing's costumes are decent.
I wonder if they'll be another Marvel Ultimate Alliance or a Marvel, DC Ultimate Alliance. Anyways, Blade & Spiderman are definitely gonna be on my team as soon as I get the game (I f***king love Marvel).

The Thing's face changes in each costume. The film version almost guarantees he'll be the last I pick. And if I pull a Wii from outta my ass, with Panther and Colossus, it may never happen.

Glad you mentioned it. This time when they released the costumes, they said what it'll do to their stats.

For Wolverine:
"Alternate costumes give different boosts, like max energy and weapon damage with the Modern outfit, increased Critical Strike chance and claw skills with Classic, additional Bleed Damage in his Astonishing outfit and increased Rage focus in the Ultimate costume."

Thor:
"Next up is Thor - and Beta Ray Bill! It's yet ANOTHER new character from an alternate costume, and this one does increased damage from all Hammer attacks and has a resistance bonus as well. There's also Thor's classic costume with a melee and elemental power focus, Ultimate costume with max energy and his full Asgardian Armor which increases all elemental damage while allowing for max health at the same time."

Thing:
"Finally, take a look at Thing in the Fantastic Four costumes you've come to expect now - Modern, Original, Classic and Ultimate. Modern increases Critical Strike change and has a new power Rock Hard which reflects damage back on the attacker. Original boosts all XP and stats. Classic is the main power and melee damage costume. And Ultimate is ultimately about power and health."

I just recently acquired the Justice League Heroes game. It's alot like MUA & XML games, but not quite as good. Feels a bit rushed but has better graphics than the current gen XML games. A.I. is pretty dimwitted and you don't get to choose whoever you want to play with in a level. Fighting is simple using the L trigger to activate powers etc. Definitely nowhere near as good as the XML games, but decent. I give it a 6.8 out of 10.

Anyways glad Deadpool is back in the game, one of my favorite Marvel characters (especially in XML2). Still don't get why Elektra is in the game tho, could've used that spot for another good character.

Yes, good idea. They should take out Electra and put in Cable. Cable hasn't been playable in a game since MvsC2 (he kicked ass in that). Not to mention the dialogue between Cable & Deadpool would be hilarious.

Agreed wholeheartedly, WTF do we need 3 Green Lantersn for. Very poor roster, what's worse is the game decides who you play as on each level. They kinda half-assed JLH (probalby to improve everything in the sequel). But to it's credit, the writers of JLU (one of my top 3 animated series of all time) wrote the story.

The VIP site updated again, and here's some new characters:

Captain Marvel (not the DC one) will be exclusive to the PSP.

Ms. Marvel will be a starting character on every platform.

Ms. Marvel's outfits include Warbird, Binary, her original outfit, and one as Sharon Ventura. Pictures of these will be posted when the game is first released (October 25th).

But the fact that the Captain Marvel chosen is Genis-Vell really caught my eye, as I've been a Genis fan for a few years now, even though he's PSP exclusive I'm excited to finally see himin action again.
