i never thought i would ENJOY the day coby comes back…. seeing garp last chapter made me groan and say "coby and helmeppo better not be there..." but now i am glad they are! i gotta stop worrying about how the future chapters will be and just let oda-sama do the work. he never, ever fails us! or at least, he never fails ME. there are plenty of complainers out there, though. XD

that being said.... now more than ever i want to know what Shanks can DO. how is he such a powerful pirate?? i wanna see him in action.

also, of course, i am burning with curiosity at who the other Emperors are.

as for the Luffy and Garp interaction... amazing stuff! hilarious!! you gotta love oda-sama. :wub:

and what exactly is usopp doing?? is he, like, eavesdropping thru a window? did he get treatment and food like everyone else???? i sure as hell hope so. :getlost:

Can't see nothing wrong about Tashigi's supposedly new look. She seems naturally more serious and mature. Maybe Smoker looks weird, but it's just one panel…hopefully they'll be back soon to clear our doubts.

And that scar on Coby's face brings me some Yamcha memories..let's see if he can win a fight.

How's that a con? It's only one of the 6 arts, and it has never been said Rokushiki was only for CP9… It's the fighting style of the WG troops. It's not too far fetched to suppose high level Marines have a mastery of Rokushiki at least equal if not better than CP9's best.

the thing about your first point is the speed at which Luffy learned Soru. i am sure it took extensive training for Coby to learn Soru. it doesn't seem like it took him a LONG time to learn, but i bet his training was very rigorous. as for luffy… he saw the CP9's do it, and bam, he was able to do it with no training whatsoever. granted, he needed to be in Gear 2nd to do it... but still blueno had a perfectly good reason to be so shocked. luffy learned it without practice, just by observing others use it.

i agree with your second and third points.... Rokushiki should just be a part of this arc and CP9. i don't want to see more of it really. :getlost:

You just know with revelations like this and with the second half of grandline being painted in such grandeur, that shit is gonna hit the fan. It's gonna be huge and we're gonna love every moment of it.

I won't even say that what Coby did was Soru unless it is stated in the manga. Just because he moved in a particular way does not mean it is Soru.
Is anyone saying Kuro used Soru? No. Was it like Soru? Yes.

Does every technique that makes you move quickly have to be called Soru? No.

Hate to break your bubble, but that is Soru. The kanji written there means 'Shave' and that's what Soru means.

As already said, Coby learned Soru after extensive training under Garp's orders at Marine HQ. It actually speaks volume about his current level the only skill he mastered under such favorable circumstances was Soru. Luffy watched Blueno do it, and instinctively reproduced it seconds after. Not really the same thing.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. More in my third point;

I honestly wouldn't mind if we saw other Rokushiki users, but instead I think we may see high level Marines who, in addition of their df powers will use some of CP9 skills, like one could master Rankyaku, another Shigan or Geppou etc. That way it'd keep CP9's uniqueness as the only ones able to master the 6 forms at once, but would also mean these skills are teached to the Marines too, which would make sense, why not give the most weapons possible to those who have to fight for Justice? Not everyone can have devil fruits.

I just love Oda's gag-drawings and this chapter is chock full of it. The best part is Helmeppo being als Sad because noone recognizes him.

About the power of the Emperors: Their true treath to the Marines is not their invidual powers, but their absolutely overpowered crews. All the crews should have at least 100 people with over 50 mil bounty.
They probably earn new members by crushing small fishes in the second half (davy back fight, anyone?)

I think you have to take significance from the phrasing, it's not about the army of crews, in fact no ones crew has even been mentioned it's about the pirates. remember, all because one man holds the title, it doesn't mean another man is not better or equal.

I meaned rather that if they would be one on one fighting the WG, they would be rather overpowered. But their very strong crews makes the difference (remember, Mihawk and Shanks used to be equal before the hand loss). But, because Mihawk doesn't care about the position/doesn't have a crew, he doesn't have a chance to become a Emperor.
Of course, all this could turn out to be BS. >_>

Awsome chapter, maybe since Luffy didnt really know his parents when he was little they left him with Ace/Aces parents and he like a Brother like figure to Luffy. Not an exact brother though.

Would clear up the different first names. However there are still similaritys between them that you would think you would be born with.

i personally go by the "same mother, different father" theory. in other words, i say Luffy and Ace are half brothers.

i'm not sure the brother from anotha motha theory is that sound. Garp seemed to state they were brothers and he trained them together right? i think being pure blood brothers will sustain a larger rivalry. I love how hellmempo still acts snotty xD

Yeah, the title is misleading, it would probably have been better for last week's chapter as there's no earth shattering surprise in this one, nothing that hasn't been hinted at and predicted by someone sometime back.

I go with these 3 possibilities on Ace's heritage:

1. He changed his last name.
2. He's not related by blood to Luffy and is the offspring of another D.
3. He's the son of Garp's daughter, thus has a different last name but kept the D. Luffy's cousin basically.

Great chapter. I love the updated designs for Coby and Helmeppo, and Dragon looks absolutely badass. I also thought it was neat how Coby already has a scar on his forehead. He must of fought some tough battles already, that or it was from one of Garp's insane training methods.

I'm in agreement with this. Tashigi looks more pensive now, more thoughtful – the last time we saw her, she was "broken" (physically and emotionally), so it's good to see that she's got an expression of more depth and complexity now. It reflects everything she's been through -- just like Robin's expression reflects her past as well.

I think so many people are saying "Robin" -- even though the facial features of both characters are very different -- because this is the sort of thoughtful expression that Robin has been giving us for some 200 chapters, so we're just more used to seeing it on Robin's face than on Tashigi's.

I'm looking forward to seeing Tashigi again, to finding out what she's been doing all this time (how she's been "getting stronger", as she promised Smoker she would) and to see her interact with Zoro again. Will it be another "Calvin and Susie" insult-fest between them, or will they manage to overcome that and be civil?

Yes, another groundbreaking chapter. Good stuff.

Now, the four emperors, I'm bothered by that "fouth" one on the bottom on the third "unseen" emperor. He looks like "The Penguin." Also, I wonder how they all measure up to each other? From experience I'd imagine that Shanks and Whitebeard are the tops, but who knows….

As for their crews, I think they may have something to do with their status. Of course each of them is strong, probably the strongest in One Piece, but could one "live like an emperor" alone? With his crew, Shanks would probably be just like Mihawk--but with more beer and less arms to drink it with. Also, I'm suspicious to how Mihawk measure's up to these emperors--his relation with Shanks gives me the impression that he's in their league, despite all signs pointing to the shichibukai (as a whole) being weaker.

Of course, we'll know when we "get there." And how does Dragon fit into this heriarchy of the strongest of the Grandline?
