Probably not the right thread, but I'm curious:
Do foreigners ever make their kanji proficiency up to kanken grade one? If so, how often?
I imagine that it's so rare as to be statistically insignificant. Fewer than 200 people pass 1級 each time it's given, and according to my coworkers and others I've asked, it's a test only doable if you are either a) a professor of kanji who studies academically or b) "kanji-mania," aka it's your primary hobby. They say the highest any "normal" person could ever go is 準1, so that's probably also the max roadblock for the vast majority of foreigners.
I'll be satisfied with 準2. ;P
