When I was still behind One Piece, there were some things I didn't quite understand, so I judged what I saw from spoilers, or characters I didn't know about yet.

I assumed that One Piece would be a show that's realistic about blood, based on the "Mohji the Beastbreaker" episode. No..
Also, I heard somewhere that Blueno defeated Luffy, before watching the Water 7 arc.

I assumed Shanks was Luffy's dad when I watched the first flashback episode (episode 4…god that was a long time ago now...) until I got hold of some profiles, and that Coby would become a part of his crew instead of becoming a Marine after seeing what damage Morgan had done.

When I was watching the Grand Battle Rush opening (This was before I started to watch the sub.) When I saw Luffy doing gatling gun and Foxy doing Kyubii rush to each other,I thought Foxy had ate the gumu gumu no fruit and that he was also doing gatling gun.

My friend thought that (when he first started One Piece) that Johnny and Yosaku were going to join the crew for good after the Arlong Arc.

Just from playing Grand Battle 2 with my friend a loooong time ago, before I even knew OP was a manga, I thought:
- … Sanji never wanted to join the crew and spent the majority of the series chasing after Tashigi (no idea where this came from).
- ... Arlong ate a DF.
- ... Buggy's Bara Bara Car was how he always moved around (damn GB2)
- ... Pandaman was in Buggy's crew.
- ... Sanji fought Mr. 2 because he hated gay people (which, due to my lack of knowledge on Sanji, I found hilarious)
- ... The only members of the SH crew were Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Chopper, and Karoo.
- ... Chopper was a moose.
- ... Mr. 3, Mr. 2, and Mr. 0 were the only members of Baroque Works.
The only misapprehension I've had as a result of this board is the following:
- Paulie actually stood a snowball's chance in Hell of joining the crew instead of Franky.

Also, I remember when I got to Logue Town the first time, it was at the end of the first box set (the hk's) so I thought that Luffy's fight with Smoker was gonna be a lot longer for some reason…. and then that filler arc started and totally threw me off, lol

I thought Chopper was like a huge dude and a gangster for some reason before I saw him, and he chopped people up.
I had read Saiyuki before I started One Piece, so I thought Sanji had ripped out his eye similar to Cho Hakkai.
That Annie (from Romance Dawn) was just the dub Nami.
I thought Ace and Robin were brother/sister because they both dressed like cowboy/cowgirl.
I thought Wapol was Chopper, relating to the fact I thought he was a gangster.

Also that:
- Sanji and Zoro were the same person.
- The dub coming out had something to do with PotC's popularity.
- Most of the stuff in the dub was real (including the 'hammergun').
- Karue and Vivi both joined permanetly (and later Robin), and Karue was more of an actual member (instead of just a duck =p ).

Also:
- Before watching, I thought Nami was a princess from an island in the sky, combining Arlong, Arabasta, and Skypiea spoilers.
- Before I started watching, I read somewhere that everytime someone got into any danger, Mihawk would appear to save everyone's asses. This was one of the things that pushed me into watching Naruto first. Yeah, I have no idea WTF that guy was talking about.
- I thought Smoker was one of Sanji's nicknames.
- (just pretend "I thought" preceeds all of these posts) Sanji had the same ability as Luffy and was his rival.
- Foxy beat Luffy during the Davy Back Fight, causing him to lose his memory, but after meeting two crewmembers (one of whom had an afro) he regained his memory and fought Foxy again, beating him. I got confused reading an episode list and not realizing that the people after the shot of the Galley-La were just Luffy and Usopp in costumes.
- Both Foxy and Paulie were girls. This was before I actually saw pictures of them.

-i saw a picture of chopper before i read the drum arc, i thought he was going to be some useless mascot/pet that sneaks on the ship or something. I also thought he was a monkey, despite his horns which i suppose i ignored.

-After reading Viz manga's take on the Arlong arc last year, i decided to read the latest chapter at the time (387). Oda's style changed so much that i thought the series went through one of those "a couple of years later…" transitions. This also explains my above assumption of smoker. :B

after I stumbled across a sprite comic - Luffy and Nami became a couple at some point in the series. -
When I was fairly young, I was looking through an old Jump manga and read a random chapter of One Piece. It was all in Japanese, so I didnt know what was going on, or that it was even One Piece.
So after flipping through it very fast, I had concluded that Kuro was the good guy.
I also didn't know that Jump came in chapters, so I thought that was the end of the whole story. I was so disappointed that the rubber guy smashed the good guy with a boulder!

This of course was back in 1998 when my head was full of nothing but Dragon Ball.

At the first time I saw Tashigi, I thought she was lesbian just because of that talk that she wanted to be a man. Believe me, it's true.

I thought Chopper used "natural medican" to heal people. By natural medican, I mean secret healing techniques that only animals know and is far better than human healing techniques.

-Usopp died or got permanently kicked off the crew. (I lost interest in OP during the W7 Arc, so after the Luffy/Usopp fight, I never knew what happened to him until last year.)

-Lucci was a woman. (More bad pictures.)
-Buster Call was this assassin guy from the World Government that would hunt you down and blow up the area that you were in. (When I was finally getting caught up in OP again, I didn't know what Buster Call was when people started talking about it.)

Aokiji was a woman who was frozen in ice….yeah, let me explain this one.
A long time back a member on here had an avatar of Robin frozen in ice by Aokiji with the words like "She is ice cold." or something. That, and people talking about an "Aokiji" who had ice powers and everything...well...Aokiji sounded feminine to me, I also thought "she" was a good person (tho Aokiji isn't exactly bad, you know what I mean).
Sogeking was....sighs some mystery person. That's right people, Usopp's disguise actually fooled me. I saw him in someone's sig from this and thought he was an entirely new character.
And I didn't KNOW what to think of Franky.
I'm sure I'll remember more later.

I saw that awesome moment where Strawhats face CP9 in Enies Lobby in a very early situation. Someone just had uploaded it to Youtube with those big SPOILER marks everywhere and I just couldn't resist.
So… according to that scene I thought Robin had really betrayed the crew (that being her mission all the time) and was crying only because she felt bad. I also had the impression that "those cool villains there" + Robin were the final boss of the series =P. And I thought sooner or later they would face the situation where Robin could prove whether she cared about the Strawhats or not =P. And Sogeking... I just wondered what the fuck happened to Usopp.
The clip included only that scene where the Strawhats walk to the edge of that building. So no burning the Government flag or Robin shouting: "I want to live."
No wonder I made wrong conclusions.EDIT
Oh... and before that I had seen music video about Zoro vs Mihawk. I thought that was Zoro's last battle and Zoro got killed =P. I'm happy that wasn't true. -
When I first started to read the manga, I thought Luffy was an annoying idiot.
First I read the first volume and decided that I liked it, but not enough to start buying them, so I read them whenever I saw them in library. That's why I read them in the wrong order. So at first I thought
-that Sanji and Zoro were the same person.
-When I realised they were two different people, I somehow started to think that Zoro and Nami were a couple.
-that Kuro hypnotized people with his shoes or that his shoes had some secret mechanism that he used to fly. (I think I read that volume in haste)The way they talked about Grand line in the Baratie-arc, I though it was a horrible and gloomy place where everything was dead, and that they would explore all the different seas first, and only some great final battle would take place on the Grand line.
My cousin, who first saw the Drum-arc, thought that Sanji was the main character and Zoro was a villain. And that he commanded an army of bunnies.
My other cousin thought that Luffy's real name was Kumipoika (Rubberboy) and that Luffy just meant Rubber in english.
