I Just caught up on the last couple episodes of the anime. The Christmas/Wrestling case was a really good filler episode, Ran had a lot of funny moments in the episode.I felt the case for the episode was really good and it was somewhat different then normal cases the series have.

Tomorrow's episode is part 2 of the first canon story of the year!
Meanwhile in manga land I got a whiff of the chapter 1107 spoilers and it sounds pretty wicked. A ton of plot stuff all at once.
-
Great episode today. I didn't expect some of the plot development in the last couple minutes of the episode.
-
@Sano I imagine they're going to promote the heck out of the next Black Organization stuff soon. But here we go, back into filler jail for a bit...
In regards to the episode, I read the chapter so long ago that I was confused about who Vermouth was talking about at the end after watching this, even though they pretty much explained it right after.
Spoilers for anyone watching the episode soon
In my head I thought: Who would Rum be suspicious about in the Kudo house? They suspect they're hiding Akai there right? But I forgot that the Organization was already convinced that Akai was dead, and Bourbon was the only one skeptical about his status because of his personal relationship with him. As a result, he has also met the parents when he tried to infiltrate the house, and we don't know the aftermath of that yet. Vermouth likes Shinichi/Ran and kinda still friends with the mom, but I assumed that relationship would extend to the dad.
Rum asked me for a favor. Someone who might become a threat to the organization is staying in Japan for some reason, so I went to investigate.
So, what was he like?
Disappointing. We could kill him anytime.
You didn't kill him?
No, not today. But if necessary, I'll kill him anytime.
So I guess Rum got so concerned about a world-famous mystery writer deciding to come back to the country and staying home (do they know he has ties with Interpol?), and Vermouth is okay with eliminating the dad. She might've been acting in Gin's presence, but I was a little shocked when I thought about it. o.o
-
With the next Conan movie being one with the Black Organization. I wouldn't be surprised if they aired the next Black Organization case episodes as way to promote the movie. From the look of the next couple filler episodes, we finally getting another mystery tour case episodes, which we haven't had one for a couple years now.
Anyway, I'm excited for the upcoming stuff for the anime. And I'll admit when Gin appeared on this week episode, I actually got a chilled, since it been a long time since he last appeared.
-
I was just on tubi and they just added a new Detective Conan english dub for the tv series. There are only 10 episodes currently for this dub (Episodes 965 - 974). The english dub cast for the episodes are from the recent Discotek releases of Movies 19 - 23.
-
Wait, so there's signs of life from Bang Zoom on dubbing the TV series?? This is great news!
-
Like I said, I just randomly ran into the dub on Tubi. Since I figured it probably was just Episode 1 - 123 that already on Filmrise, Crunchyroll, and Freevee and then I checked it was Episodes 965 -974 with an dub. I'm surprise that no one is really talking about this on other social media. Since I really want to know about this Conan dub, since there wasn't any announcement about it.
-
@Sano They finally announced it!
My biggest worry is that it becomes another Gintama situation where there's a random late season dub that doesn't start from the beginning, all to test the waters, and it doesn't gain enough traction for the rest to be done. :( There needs to be more promotion of this though, just feels like it's some miraculous hope after Funimation's weird handling of it.
-
It's kinda telling for the quality of this slog if for quite a while now positive discussion about this series involves literally anything else but the actual chapters in this still ongoing series. You know, manga, as in the core element of the entire franchise.
-

Totally agree on that point. I watched a couple episodes of the new dub today. Even though I'm so used to the Funimation dub and with the characters in names from that dub. It's somewhat weird to hear the Japanese names of the characters in the dub form now. Before this I seen Zero Tea Time and some clips from the movies with this cast.
I will say I like the new voices for Heiji, Ai, Kazuha, and Ran. I'm still getting used to the new dub voice of Kogoro. But overall, I'm enjoying the new dub of Conan and I hope we get more episodes.
-
I just checked out chapter 1107 and there's some huge revelations!
It's like literally a great start of the year for both anime and manga, English and Japanese :)
-
More good Conan news. Crunchyroll just put back up Episodes 859 - 909 of the series. Since at some point last year the episode were taken off of Crunchyroll.
-
Another 10 episodes (Episode 975 - 984) batch of the new Conan english dub is now up on Tubi. In this batch of episodes we got a Kaito Kid two part case.
-
Wow, possibly 10 episodes a week at this rate? Now I kinda wish they started with the earlier 900s to cover the school trip, haha.
I booted up Crimson Love Letter for a quick listen and it seems Hattori's VA really did change. That's the only one I noticed so far between the dubs.
-
I agree, they should've started the new dub from the lead up to the Scarlet School Trip arc. So that we could've had the Black Bunny's Club case as well, If these episodes are an success, I hope they do go back and dub more of the older episodes. Especially, those first post Funimation episodes (Ai's introduction arc).
-
Word of mouth is saying the ADR director on Instagram confirmed about 30 episodes so far. I'm having trouble finding the actual Instagram link but that seems to be the what's going around right now.
Friend and I have been watching some episodes for a while and we're starting from the beginning to cover ones that he missed. It's been nostalgic and a great time. I keep wanting to start a site again to keep track of the small details but I have other projects to finish first!
-
That's really interesting. So far for the new dub episodes I got through the MPD Transportation division case. I really like the dub voices for Takagi and Saito. From what I watch so far, I'm enjoying this dub of Conan.
-
I really like the new ending song that started a couple episode ago. I really like the shot of Ai, Conan, and Ran pictures on the dart board, which I'm guessing Vermouth is throwing the darts at the Ai picture. I also like that the ending is focusing on all of the major female characters in the Black Organization storyline.
Looks like next week episode is going to be adapting the final chapter of the Wild Police Story series, with it focusing on Rei. Which is kinda perfect timing, since the new Conan movie is coming out next month, which will be focusing on the Black Organization. Which is making wonder if the anime is going to be airing the next Black Organization case as lead into the new movie.
-
Oh, I was not expecting one more WPS episode for some reason. I didn't read the source material though, so it must've been obvious. I think because I've associated this image with the ending so when I saw it at the end of the last episode, I was satisfied.
Wonder if it's realistic to expect the next organization arc to be animated right after this one or will they still delay it. They've been so stingy with resources, and they still have to have their movie tie-in too, right.
edit- nice preview pic
-
The finale of Wild Police Story was really good and the final minute of the episode, pretty much sets up the next new episode in 2 weeks perfectly. Which the next episode preview confirmed it to be the next Black Organization story arc. In other Conan news, Tubi now got the subtitle version of Episodes 965 - 1014. From what I heard about the subs on Tubi, they are the same subtitles that are on the crunchyroll version of these episodes.
-
20 more episodes (985-1005) were just added to Tubi. 1003 is currently missing, though I assume this is unintentional.
-
The dub for episode 1003 is now up on Tubi. I haven't finished the 2nd batch of episodes for the dub, But I went ahead and check out the dub of Episode 993 to hear the new dub voice for Sonoko. I like the new dub voice for Sonoko and this episode also the dub debut for Sera. I thought Sera's voice is fine, I just have to get used to hearing her voice in english.
But seriously, I'm enjoying this dub. I hope it continues on, also I hope do go back and dub the older episodes, since the closes thing we got in the moment with that is the Episode 1000 and 1001 version of the Moonlight Sonata case.
-
I have finally gotten up to volume 99. Slowly but surely getting up to date. Two unrelated thoughts, i have grown to hate the japanese alphabet type of cases where they have to crack some convoluted word cipher. And i really hate how Moore isn't getting any spotlight at all. Feels like he's just there reading a newspaper in most of the newer ones.
-
@wolfwood Totally fair. And then you look at Cipher Academy... sudden realization that there's something worse out there.
42 volumes in I fondly remember this comment from the man himself:
-
The Japanese language truly is the biggest mystery of all.
Started watching that conan parody on netflix, and it is kinda cute. The whole murder town that no one can leave thing is a good gag, and so is the real estate agent making a killing because he owns the only few places where people haven't been gruesomely murdered yet.
-
The new episode was great. The opening moments with Gin and Vodka pretty much tell us that we're in for a wild ride in these upcoming episodes. I do like the new opening song that started with this week episode.
-
Just got to see it after waiting for a friend. There was something about the quality on this episode that I liked, like the lines felt more defined and the color was more muted maybe? Almost movie-quality?? I wish all the canon episodes got this treatment considering how spread out they are.
And the new opening by Wands - I think the use of IRL backgrounds worked well! The credits using the code system in this arc is a creative touch. I liked the art style and the colors here too.
Another cool detail that's easy to miss because it's a couple frames long is the bottle that Conan dodges during the chase.
Edit: On the topic of whether the whole episode was muted or not? I took pics of the ending sponsor card. The background's exactly the same, but Conan's colors are clearly desaturated. Neat!
Episode 1076:
Episode 1077:

Really nice, I didn't notice those things while watching the episode. I'll probably will watch this week episode again.
-
Rotate the bottle and...
Creditless opening uploaded by TMS
-
The various organizations in this manga just love going undercover. Every volume is another colorful character showing up to backseat solve the mystery only to vaguely hint about being a liquor or an agent or both.
-
1006-1014 are out now, which means the current dub has reached 50 episodes.
https://tubitv.com/tv-shows/200001701/s01-e1006-who-poisoned-the-victim?start=true -
The new episode of Conan was great. Like last week Gin was pretty dang scary throughout the episode. The preview for next week episode is getting me interested to see the true identity of Rum finally revealed.
-
The identity being that it is that other guy in disguise to lure out that other guy into the open, with that guy being disguised as Moores garbage collector. I have no confidence in the author ever uncomplicating any of this without re-inserting another disguised identity into the shuffle
-
Wow, I think the mysteries are generally fair game most of the time, in other words there's a certain point where you have all the clues to be able to make a guess, and the manga schedule gives more time over anime. But the anime staff pulling this one on the new opening makes it more an easter egg lol, like if it was meant to be seen then this feels like Cipher Academy territory.
...
I see, every time a character winked, you were supposed to mirror the screen... lol, just like the code the FBI used.
Comments about the new episode later, I have to wait for a friend before watching
edit- Felt short but I'm glad it's done. Next episode is the movie tie-in but I wish I could join the hype and watch the movie in theaters right after!
Chapter 1100 spoilers are out

Manga on break until June 7 wryyyyyy
Anyway I'm hearing Movie 26 (Iron Submarine) did well, as usual. I do want to watch it but I have to wait.
The film earned 64% more in its first three days than the previous film, Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween.
https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2023-04-18/detective-conan-kurogane-no-submarine-film-opens-at-no.1/.197199There was a some brief noise from early screenings when some watchers got mad at something and posted about it online, apparently on the Chinese message boards, and things blew up from there that lead to the official movie account posting a notice asking people to be cordial. Pretty amusing.
Can't underestimate the movie power, you know while the whole world was popping off for Avengers, there's Japan popping off to Movie 23 lol
-
Sorry, I haven't got a chance to comment on the finale of the recent Black Organization case. in the anime
-
I have to say, I was surprised that I wrong about who is going to be the main suspect on this week filler episode of Conan. Since I thought it was going to be revealed that it was the restaurant chef shop that Kogoro and Conan were at was going to be revealed as the attacker then the Soba chef.
-
@Sano While I don't really watch the Anime Originals, I think it's pretty cool to hear from the people who enjoy them.
I do think it's very interesting to see how limited things can be when you can't change the status-quo. You pretty much can't use a majority of the cast so you're stuck with a common party composition:
- Conan and Kogoro (sometimes with Ran)
- Conan and Detective Boys (sometimes with Haibara)
- Generic-looking new characters
- Police-side: Megure and Takagi (sometimes with Chiba)And even then these characters are subjected to strange situations that are usually out-of-character, even compared to the more spy-action movies:
- Old aunties being huge fans of the Detective Boys
- Conan mid-air unwrapping a blanket and going flying-squirrelOddly-specific examples.
But yeah, it's like a whiplash when you get back onto canon material, and noticing the quality difference in the writing might've contributed to my eventual appreciation to the series as a whole despite all the common complaints people have.
I think one of my top complaints is why the anime won't do more canon episodes when there's already such a big backlog, lol. A 2-year adaptation gap is insane.
-
I don't really mind the anime originals that much If anime original is really good I usually like to make a comment about it For example, I really like that wrestling/christmas episode back in December. I only really seen the first 123 episodes (with the Funimation dub) and all of the crunchyroll simulcast episodes as they came out.
The only time I had a problem with anime original episode was Episode 997. Mostly because of the plot of the episode was really bad and the Villains of the episode plans to destroyed the old folks home. It was a really bad episode I haven't watched the dub version that episode yet and I got a feeling that the dub isn't going help to make that episode better. lol.
-
Some good Conan news, Viz is giving the manga simulcast release now. Like the Jump series, the three most recent chapters are free to read.
-
SERIOUSLY? WOW hold on I couldn't find the changes in the app after looking at this whole thing last night. I'll report back
Edit: Wow uh this feeling is like... surreal. Bring Gintama over and complete this circle for me Viz.
Edit 2: Holy, only 917-1099 are not unavailable. ONLY. Wow, they've been working hard. Wowww -
I know, how you feel. I'm just happy that the manga got a simulcast release now. Of the new chapters, I only read chapter 1110 so far. It's a good start to another Detective Boys story.
-
I finished reading chapters 1111 and 1112. It was a good case and I like the reference back to the Conan getting kidnapped case from the beginning of the series with the return of Yukiko's disguise from that case. The stuff with Rum and Rumi in the last couple of pages was really interesting. I'm curious where this stuff is going.
Again, I'm excited that the manga is getting a simulcast release now, especially with all the recent reveals in the story. So it's exciting that we're getting the new chapters of Conan around the same time that Japan is getting them. Also I'm getting used to the Funimation names of the characters again due to Viz using them, but that isn't a really a deal breaker for me.
-
I caught up on the last couple episodes of Conan. Man, the most recent Heiji case in the anime was a really good one. There were some really funny moments in both episodes. One comes in my mind was when one of the suspect found out that one of the other suspect was the person that hurt her boyfriend, she begin trying to the kick the guy, but instead kicked Takagi. Also I like that both Takagi and Saito were part of this case.
-
Happy to be able to talk about the new chapter that just came out - https://www.viz.com/vizmanga/case-closed-chapter-1115/chapter/39382?action=read
Although there's going to be another break before we get the next set (maybe we can consider this to be a bi-weekly series mentally...) I think things are starting to heat up with these "old guys" appearing, with this one targeting Conan, and learning about Zero's new connection... I wonder if these are the signs of a Conan rescue mission?
-
With how the chapter ended, I'm really curious what's Rei's involvement going to be now.
-
Just rewatched the German dub of episode 270, and right there the German translators really had quite some fun when they changed a scene just for shit and giggles.
When they reenacted the murder and Megure asked Agasa to play the victim, they somehow went from "Agasa-kun, could I ask you to play it?" to "Agasa, you'll play the victim because you look like a victim.". (In German victim is also slang for doormat.)
That was somewhat hilarious and really made me chuckle.
-
I been meaning to make a comment about this past week episode of Conan. That episode was a wild and crazy episode. It something I never seen episode of Conan did before.
-
This week episode of the anime is a really good filler episode. I like that we got an filler that mostly involved with the women cast of characters. I like that the anime been using Sato alot lately in the filler episodes. Also I like the Cat's Eye parody during the mid point of the episode.
