I just hope that it will lead to something. Whenever I see Heiji pop up I'm getting excited that we might get a bit more forward with the story. Still curious to see how all will be tied together because I seriously doubt that not all characters of the permanent cast won't take part in this. Though I have no idea how Kaitou Kid would fit in such a scenario actually. Well, still keeping my hopes up.^^
Detective Conan (Case Closed)

Assuming it's as fantastic as it should be, both Kaitou's parents need to be involved as part of the plot. Kaitou's father was probably killed by the organization and just recently his mother has entered into the cooking pot. I just hope Conan's true identity being revealed is every bit as satisfying as the over 700 chapters before have hyped up.

@ Ivotas : you know that was the case for me when RTL II was stil showing it and heck that was aorund the 200th episode I believe . But even back in 04 it anoyed the heck out of me how out of cca. 200 episodes , not more then four actualy dealt with the frame plot in a progresive way . That is realy kinda stupid .
Though on the other hand the anime was a very welcome thing to turn on every day and watch . Kind of like that show you watch every day even if you know it's not the best (though we're talking leagues above tripe like Star Gate) , but you all around like it .
Stil does not mitigate the fact that this has been taking way too long . Hell go to the Tropes entry on /I forgot the exact name but it's for a "slipery" timeline and there you'll find lots of stuff that contradicst all this happening during the same damn year .
I wish that if the mangaka is so precise about detail in his cases he would stick to realia as they were in 1999 and not just include all the "fancy" stuff we have today just so he can relate it to the present and not seem outdated .

"DETECTIVE CONAN" MANGA 804 SPOILER PICS

Already a thread for this. Never used, but already a thread. Several in fact, it looks like. I need to bump some things so I can find and fuse them.

Is this series worth buying? Or just I just stick to scans?

Well, its currently 800 chapters long, so…
-
What I mean is, are Viz's translations any good?
-
As long as you can live with the fact that Viz (which started the translated manga in 2004) kept the Americanized character names that Funimation used for their dub of the anime (which started in 2003), the translations are fine. You can check this wikipedia article for the different names, though looking through that article, I know the main characters are different in the Viz volumes, but most of the police don't seem to have been changed, so might be where Viz was compared to when Funimation stopped Dubbing?

I have no idea what you're talking about.

The author said that the manga would soon reach its endgame. That was two years ago. But of course, why end the milking of such a successful cash cow?
-
@RobbyBevard:
I have no idea what you're talking about.
See below for answers.

well I may be a little late, but as a Huge Detective conan fan, i was delighted to see that there would be yet ANOTHER movie for this year in the form of It's second Lupin III crossover (they actually battle this time…. and Kid is there too)
here is the most HD-iest trailer i could find.... if anybody would be so nice as to translate that... I'll be even happier.

The first cross-over was pretty good, although it wasn't a VS.
This one looks like a real three-way show down. I like it!
Although IMO, Conan is way over his head to tackle the group on his own, I hope the various gang from Conan make a good contribution.
It'd be hard to swallow Conan singlehandedly outsmarting Lupin team. -
Please try to search and see if a thread already exists for something before you make a new one.
Also, huge Lupin fan, so… any outing is a good one. Except for the awful ones. Which are thankfully only about 1 in 7 (But have unfortunatley, all been brought stateside instead of some of the really good ones or older one.)

Just recently discovered Detective Conan/Case Closed and I am absolutely LOVING IT! I wish I'd discovered the series sooner - can't believe what I've been missing all these years. Initially I was hesitant to start reading/watching it because of the intimidating length (like One Piece- except DC isn't available at my local library
), but I quickly realized it's a very episodic series. After watching the first handful of episodes/reading the initial chapters, you can hop in just about anywhere and understand what's going on.
Anyway, looking forward to seeing how Conan and Sera rip apart the alibi of the romance novelist regarding the death of his assistant in the latest translated chapter (876). I hope we get some more background on Sera soon, too.
-
Just a heads up for German fans: After 12 years, Conan will be getting 102 new episodes! They will air on Prosieben Maxx starting October 1 at 17:35, who has posted a preview:
They will also show the last two episodes that previously aired right before these since they're the first two parts.

EDIT:Wow never thought I'd see Case Closed dubbed ever again considering it's still running in Japan. Curious how these new voices will sound, too bad Funi couldn't take a crack it again with dubbing the movies but I'm happy we're getting "new" case closed stuff after so long
-
It seems this anime is not very popular in the US? Here in Italy is very popular, more than One Piece or Naruto i would say! I dont know in the rest of the Europe
-
It had a good english dub that covered like four seasons so it had to have some measure of popularity.
-
Im surprised they are using a new LA voice cast. Wouldnt IT BE cheaper to use the funi texas actors instead?

Everyone spread the word. I hope this can help revive the dub! Streaming is the future.

I hope once we get pass the Funimation episodes (Episodes 1 - 123), Crunchyroll would begin to get the episodes that haven't had a release in the U.S. yet(Episodes 124 - 753).

The live action Detective Conan tv special "The Letter of Challenge" is up on Prime video.

I'm on like volume 37 of the manga and i'm already bored with the men in black. I can't imagine how grating the next 80 volumes will be in that aspect

I'm surprised you reading it instead of finding a guide for the best movies and episodes.
Conan is basically a bunch of Sherlock story where he meets Lupin from time to time. And the "main" plot barely progress or matter. There's really no reason to consume it in order or completely.
-
Well i started out with the dub, ran that dry, tried watching the subs with..mixed results. So now i'm on the manga, which i absolutely have to read from start. Like i did with marvel i'm starting from issue one, if there is a good run in 2020 i'll get there when i'm done with 1964 to 2019 y'know. None of that cherry picking for ol' wolfwood, i'm just weird that way
-
I am really missing out on this, I remembered discovering this on Adult Swim. I watched the first season while renting it's DVD. Can't even recall if I completed it.
One of the huge series along with One Piece, I have watched 24 episodes so far, to get off topic a bit.
-

I'm the exact opposite here. I'm not saying that the men in black is a super well written story but it's literally the only thing that keeps me going. I honestly skimm through every chapter if it isn't involving anything about the main plot because it literally is the same crap over and over again. Murder, three suspects, find out who it was rinse and repeat. I'm not saying that this is bad in a murder mystery manga but at some point you've seen and done it all and you just want to see where this ends. Also - just as we mentioned this in the Hajime no Ippo thread - this series is also a big offender of moving nowhere with such things as love angles between the main cast. Even with Shinichi and Ran where you can say it's because Shinichi is rarely in his real body it's getting tedious. But with Heiji and Kazuha it's honestly unbearable how this is not moving forward. Of course they let some others people get together (not gonna spoil it for you since you seem to be behind) but then they just introduce the same love angles with other characters just because the readers demand it. It's so tiresome. The mangaka literally said 11 years ago that the endgame would begin in about a year. Just friggin end this story already. [/rant]
-
Yeah at the stage i'm at right now the author seem a bit bored with the formula. For like two volumes now it's been silly cases, cases solved by the doc, solved by the girls etc and barely anything with Moore. Which is fine, nothing wrong with subverting the expectations and playing with the tropes. But since i tend to read it in bursts i still sort of prefer the cases that are played more seriously with Moore and the inspector. But yeah two thirds more of this same set up could get a little boring i guess
-
I have read every chapters of DC till now. While BO story moves at snail's pace, there has had been some amazing stories over the years. But indeed it gets boring often and some of the solutions are extremely contrived and behaviors of victims in their last moments are often ridiculous.

That's why I never really got into the series.
The early stories seem cool but over 100 volumes of mostly wasted time does not sound appealing.
They already broke the rules by allowing him to turn back into an adult whenever the plot says it's necessary.
