Ussop's noise is great. Just the thought of being in the middle of an onslaught, pulling out a black board, and scratching it makes me smile. As cool as it is, it's still no Rubber Band of Doom.

Chapter 427 "It's not like it's Hell Here" Discussion

The look on Lucci's face before and during Jet Gatling was awesome. Bravo!

I don't have an image shack account or whatever, but -
For the spread. I joined it as best I could.

But…argh! Usopp did something FUNNY!! Why is he such a joke?!?!?!
Agreed! Humor has no place in One Piece!
usopp, either become badass or gtfo

You are wrong…... it's the mixture of humour and seriousness plus some superb fights that is what One Piece great.......
-
That chapter was full of awesome. I can't remember the last time I was that pumped up reading. Usopp and Luffy's dialouge made me cry a little ;_; I can't believe they're STILL being antagonistic towards each other.
Thank God the fight is finally over, though. Now we can finally get down to business with stuff like WHAT DID FRANKY DO WITH THE MONEY and whether he's permenently going to join. Oh crap hey still have Buster Call to deal with first.
Poor HattoriNow he'll unleash a can of whoopass in revenge, huh?
I find it hilarious how some of you guys are now placating yourselves with "Usopp is a joke character" just because he didn't do what you wanted.
-
Usopp has done more than enough…... yet people still won't accept it.....
-
He IS! He did an Usopp Screech! YAAAAAHHHHH
-
Man, I so like this chapter, Usopp motiving Luffy, and Luffy putting out Lucchi for good.
Seems that Usopp is'nt bitter like he was before, he actully helped Luffy like a friend. I hope that Oda don't pull another Robin on Usopp when this arc is over, I want to see Usopp rejoining the crew again.
And when Lucchi was getting knocked out, some of his theet are missing. Wow, jet gating gun put out this guy for good. This is the satifiying end, the CP9 is offically dead.
The last sence was touching, let's see what happens next.
-
Well, Ussop was a little out of his league in this arc…
I mean he shot down the WG Flag and napalmed Spandam...but that was about it.
Then again his specialization wasn't really a strength going up against any of the CP9 guys. He may still play a part in taking down the BC though so keep an eye out.
-
@Cap'n:
Damn, I was about to post that. I also noticed it in the spoiler scans.
This week's issue is apparently a huge special for Kochikame. There's apparently going to be a lot of writers/legendary series involved.
It's been running for 30 years straight, I think. Yeah, that is pretty huge.
-
how would you all feel about the WG retreating at this point?
I would laugh. With capital L.
But well, Enies Lobby is ending. Usopp did, what I seriously thought he would do. And few things are still bothering me:
1. How they are going to escape and take Luffy with them?
2. Is Paulie ok? (franky family is most likely dead)
3. How is Usopp rejoining to crew?
4. And for fuck's sake, where is Sanji? Again. -
problem is, those people would argue back that without Usopp's pep talk, Luffy still wouldn't have won…...
actually I said Luffy wouldn't… well not that he wouldn't... but that he might not and it wouldn't surprise me. but Im not going to argue anything, Luffy won so.. yay
and I agree, where is Sanji? XD
-
Sanji always seems to be missing in action for some reason.
1. The fight against the Mr.3 Pair in Little Garden.
2. The first confrontation with the CP9 in Water 7.
3. The fight against the Buster Call. -
There's one thing in this arc keeps bugging the hell out of me. WHY, if we've gotten hints at Kabuto's hidden power, hasn't it been whipped out yet?
I fear more shit will hit more fans faster than any fans have been shitted before in the near future.
-
Yeah and in Arabasta too. But was only fight against time. And some big bananacrocodiles. Those were actually cool… But anyway, I have no idea what Sanji is going to do? Lucci got owned in big time, fighting against captains is going smoothly (Usopp noise!!) and.. so on.

Tsk tsk… still bitter after all this time.
-
GRRRR USOPP I'M TOO ANGRY TO TAKE MY INSULIN
@Mog:
It's been running for 30 years straight, I think. Yeah, that is pretty huge.
I always wanted to read it, but no one scans it. Of course, it's perfectably understandable that groups would be intimidated by it, but still. I still look at raws just for the hell of it.
And I really want to see the Golgo/Lupin/Kinniku/Dragonball specials on it..

He motived Luffy, that's special. He does not have to take down the BC.

you were just imagining hints
-
I could feel it in my soul.
LUCCI IS FINISHED.
-
So I'll go out on a limb here and guess Sanji's going to get passed up for a bounty again because he's off…. doing whatever. Heh.
As for Usopp-- would you take a bow and arrow into a melee fight? Noooooo. Usopp has to use whatever short-range attacks he has at his disposal right now, which aren't that many. Kabuto will come out when it'll actually do him any good.
-
Awesome. Its over. Time for Luffy to kick some Marine ass.
-
This chapter was just… perfect. o_O
I'm awed, Oda handled this magnificently. No complains at all.
-
Just have to post this one….....this fight is confirmed over !!!
-
You are wrong…... it's the mixture of humour and seriousness plus some superb fights that is what One Piece great.......
I'm pretty sure the other guy is joking, there are very few "all-serious" characters in OP. Hell, Zoro just got out of a comedy-mixed fight.
Otherwise, I would agree with this post, OP has got comedy, drama, and general acts of awesome.
-
Oh yeah. Oda is god-like in these kind of things. One Piece is in a whole new level now.. Okay, it has been long in a different level… But what they do after this? Of course, they have to go to water 7 (their stuff is there and maybe even the new ship :ninja:) But, because these two arcs were pretty much about Usopp (oh really) and Robin, next arc could/should be about Zoro or Sanji. Arc concentrating to Zoro would be puuuurfect

the possibility of the next-arc/mini-arc is about Zoro is high…since he would have needed to find another katana or repair his katana (if that is possible)...

How I love Pierre the funk-bird.
I'm impressed, the drawn out fight built to what is the perfect end of the climax of Enies Lobby. Usopp's mini-speech was awesome, and seeing the rest of the Mugiwara beat some Marine ass was good too. All in all, I think this was an excellent chapter.
At this point, I really can't see how they're going to escape without destroying at least a couple BC ships, either that or Usopp's gonna pull some grand attack that disables a few of them and distracts the ships so they can escape. I'm going to laugh, HARD, if Sanji doesn't get a bounty and the rest of them do.
-
I thought Usopp noise was perfectly acceptable, he could make badass explosions with kabuto, but his crewmates are there, and he can't damage his own escape ship.
He still has normal bullets, though, and even then, he also has an Impact Dial on him.
-
maybe the running gag about Sanji not getting a bounty will continue…...... and Zoro going to "remind" him about him unable to get a bounty...... lol...
-

Funny thing is, while a liked the end of Lucci, I hardly think it's the climax of hte chapter. We still have the Buster Call, those captains, and maybe the VCs, with whats left of Enies Lobby. I have a feeling that the Climax will truely occur with the destruction of all these elements together.
Like someone else said, just defeating Lucci ironically doesn't mean they're in the clear, but it's aparently a big, big deal. The marinies will probably start attacking in harder or desperately in trying to stop the SHs now.
-
but it's a morale breaker…seeing a strong marine get beaten....... morale will be low .....so it might be the break the mugiwaras need......... to at least beat the captains back.......
-
does anybody remember when luffy tried gomu gomu no gattling at water 7 against lucci, and it did absolutely nothing? gear second must make his offensive power at least 10 times stronger! not a bad chapter. i like to see my share of fighting, but meh.
-
Everything is going fine on Enies Lobby until Aokiji steps on the scene that is (wishfull thinking)
-
Yay for Usopp noise! >D<
I'm afraid that with this chapter, Usopp kicked Zoro out of the "Monkey-kun's Three Favorite OP Characters"-ranking. Sorry, Zoro, you were up there because you're damn sexy, but Usopp was just that awesome today.
As to the people who keep saying that Usopp should stop being funny and stick to ass-kicking, it seems to me that you don't really understand his character. o_O It's very similar to people wanting Sanji (who occupies second place in my ranking, first place will always belong to Nami-san) to start hitting women and Chopper to lose his cuteness. The best thing is that they call that "character development", discarding all the things that make a character fun, likeable and three-dimensional in favor of making him a fighting machine. Please, Oda's goofy humor is one of the things that make One Piece such a wonderful manga!

actually, that time Luffy and the others were distracted by Robin's "betrayal"…..... and besides, that time it wasn't Gear Second.......but it's the distraction that was the factor....

Sanji's face when he realizes that he didn't get a bounty: priceless
And of course Sanji's backfigure would be in Usopp's wanted poster -
He still has normal bullets, though, and even then, he also has an Impact Dial on him.
Hey, the impact dials injures him right now
-

Long-range weapons, even like a slingshot, are NOT effective in a fight like this where you're going to be surrounded by people trying to kill you. Even an impact dial's only going to take one, maybe two people out at a time, leaving the others to take you down, plus you can only use an impact dial so aften before you ruin your arm. Given his options, I'd say the chalkboard is his best option, as it inhibits multiple people at once (albeit not permanently, but it's better than a sword in your head). Usopp's not a melee fighter and he's doing the best he can under the circumstances.
-
That could be right if we didn't see in the same chapter Franky bombing the living shit out of some random Captain.

yeah, well….at point blank range....... even the kabuto would have hit....
bevin already explained by Usopp's kabuto isn't suitable for close battle combat.....

This post is deleted!

Hey, the impact dials injures him right now
I never said he had to fire the dial; in the OP anime G8 filler, he was defending himself quite well by simply using the dial to absorb attacks. Zoro is all the muscle Usopp really needs to take down those guys; he might as well build up potential energy while keeping himself alive.
Frankly I'd prefer the Usopp Rubber Band by a mile to the chalkboard; at the very least, Usopp is making a conscious (if silly) effort to inflict damage, rather than stand around screeching like a typical shounen girl.

**I'll find it amusing when Usopp does something incredible later, and you'r not there.
Franky isn't Usopp.**

Haha yeah… Something incredible... Later...
Keep reaching for that rainbow buddy.

Except that in the G8 arc, he was using it against one person at a time. Here, he's being swarmed with Marines– if four swords are coming at you, how can you block all of them with one or two dials? It's impractical.
-
maybe there won't even be a backfigure, since Sanji isn't even there …....
Of course. Silly me.

Except using automatic firearms like Franky's is different from having to load , aim, and fire a slingshot…
