I think Oda has more of a brain than that. It's a bad idea. Almost as bad an idea as Zoro taking the elephant. It would just be poor storytelling, and I expect MUCH more than that from Oda.

well i'm very very sure funkfried will NOT be zoros next sword. why would zoro wield a whimpy shrimpy sword like that? franky scared the sword into reversing it's power, then smashed it ontop of S-Panda. i really see zoro using completely normal swords, just one's that are legendary for their sharpness and strength. takashi took a nice sword from the Mr. 11 guy, so swords or great caliber are avalible on the grand line. i think zoro with either have to take a sword from someone else or recieve one. but yea, i would much rather see someone make zoro a special katana, maybe the same person who made all the demon splinters will be found?
and the sandai kotetsu was definatly stronger than the white snow sword, if zoro had used a left handed attack on the guy the swords demonic aura would of protected it.

probably been said before but this is a nice time for a seastone sword. Dunno, you could say that it's cheap and that Zoro won't need it after he enhances that "cut all things aura" but dunno. My guess is Mihawk also have a seastone sword (black blade).

and black bladed swords > all other swords.

Franky scared frankfried because he was improperly weilded. A real swordsman wouldn't rely on the sword to do all the work like Spandam did, he'd train the elephant to react to his wielding in a way that made his techniques powerful.

And I think Frankfried would be a good addition to Zoro. It's like Luffy's gears, and all the other new weapons etc. It branches the fighting style out without ruining it.

Oh, and I will say this every time I post in this thread: Zoro lost his sword in the same arc we were introduced to a magic sword.

While I cannot see Zoro keeping Funkfried for regular use, I could see him using it to defeat Mr. Rust. It's not like he would risk using Kitetsu or Wadou on that guy.

There is only one reason in why Zoro would never use Funkfreed, and that reason is Zoro uses KATANAS…. Funkfreed is a large english sword for crying out loud! And it would certainly slow him down.

actually Frunkfried looks more like a falchion. english swords = bastards, claymores or fencing's rapiers.

but yeah, this is a good point. doesn't fit his character for him to use anything other than katanas.

Both Smoker and Croc said that the seastone is unbreakable so its a fine match with Zoro.
Tho im not sure that you can sharpeen it but it would be a friking good sword.
(Zoro would even be able to defeat Luffy so on other thought…. No he wont get that kind of a sword....)

We thought about it, but a Kairoseki sword is another gimmick sword, which Zoro wouldn't go into.

There's only three other named swords that we've seen and I think Zoro will obtain at least two of them at some point. One is the Kuroken that Mihawk has. The second is Autumn Rain, held by Tashigi. The third hasn't been named, but it's held by one of the Gorosei. To me, those are three of the most powerful swords in the world. Zoro will more than likely obtain them all.

i wouldnt mind him having more then 3 swords. i dont think funkfreed should be a 'main sword'. it'd cramp his style. but it'd be cool as a 'pet' or extra sword when he needs to rip the planet in half.

Yeah… I guess you sharpen it the same way you make a seastone staff and a set of five seastone handcuffs? how the f*** DO they do that, anyway? Shichishiki=seven forms, so the seventh form is super immortal invincible metal cutting attack!! I'm too lazy to come up with a name for the seventh form's attack, though.

Yeah... but also, seastone is now an even greater weakness of Luffy's, because theoretically, if he gets touched by seastone while in Gear2, he dies instantly, because he temporarily loses all rubber ability while he still has air in his blood vessels. And in Gear3 touching seastone, his arm would explode, and it would temporarity be like a more bloody version of when Shanks lost an arm. Also, if it was his left arm, there would be a high chance of death, because that's right next to his heart. Technically a high chance of death if it's any part of his bone structure exploding, but hey, it's Luffy.

Then I have to remind myself that it IS Luffy. None of that could ever happen to him.

after reading some of the posts here, I think having a seastone blade/hilt isn't a good idea for Zoro…..who relies on his own training and skills..... it would be very damaging to him more than his opponent...mentally wise.....because he knows that one of his sword has seastone on it.....it would mean a disadvantange to a devil fruit based swordsman ........ which Zoro won't be too keen to have the advantage.........

I doubt he'll get Funkfried 'cause Zoro's not about gimmicks. (Putting aside that WTF Asura thing he did with Kaku, but that whole fight was WTF) Getting a sword with a DF would just cheapen him and demean his whole journey, imo. You can argue in OP for swords having souls or not but they're not living beings like DF-items are… if Zoro used a DF sword he wouldn't have done things on his own power.

So I don't think it's Funkfried.

It still doesnt change the fact, that a superior sword makes a better swordsman even better. A swordsman does not use his power alone, he always use the power of his weapon as long with his or her skill.

Mihawk faught Zoro with the little sword because if he fought with his main sword, he would have been way more powerful. How does having a powerful sword cheapen you? It makes no sense. Swordsmen want the best swords.

He does magical things with his demon sword anyway.

I am not saying I like the idea, but Funk fried was a sword. Plus, if used correctly, he could take out half the marines with one strike with a sword like that.

Actually, gunblades were REAL weapons of the time. The muzzle of the gun came out along the side of the sword blade. So really, Zoro with a gunblade isn't as ridiculous as it sounds at first.

Well, stepping outside of the known good swords, what do you think the chances of Zoro finding an unknown sword are? One that happens to be just as good as any of the, say, 21 or 50 great swords, but previously undiscovered. I dunno – Just a thought.

Now that Zoro have that 3-headed, many-arm Demon form, I think he will get another demon sword like Kitetsu 3rd Generation but instead it was Kitetsu 2nd Generation. I think he will gradually replace Wado Ichimonji with Kitetsu 1st Generation and use Wado Ichimonji only in the greatest battle(like against Mihawk).

It LOOKS like the Kietsu 2 or 1 is in the hands of one of the Gorousai. Also, the Hakweye's sword could be the 1, he does call it "the finest in the world."

If Hawkeye DOESN'T have a kietsu, I think Zoro will end up wielding all three. (I'm still with the side that says Tashigi is Kuina, not that I'm sure how it worked out. But whatever, it could happen anyway.)

The whole point of Funkfreed is that he's Funkfreed. If Zoro doesn't use him effectively, it would be the same as Marine Sword A, only he'll have a stupid pet around when not fighting. If he does, he'll become a cross between Mohji and Cabaji.
