I find it strange that people here continue to watch the dub every week, and then complain about it. I watched a few episodes of it, and didn't like it, so I now stick with the sub for the most part. I do check out the dub maybe once every 2 months, but I don't complain about it, since it is my choice to watch it. I was curious as to know why some people here keep watching the dub just to complain about it? If it's that bad, wouldn't it make more sense to stop watching it, like what I did instead of watching it every week? Not like anyone's voice is going to change greatly over a few weeks…

Morbid curiosity, mostly.
-
(nods) I want to see how bad it can get.
-
To see how they handle certain scenes. Like the darts this past week which was just handled badly >_<
-
Yeah, I like to see how the edits are. I'm waiting for the big Bellemere death scene edit.
-
._. the darts became poison suction cups. woke up early and was flipping through the stations when I saw the lovely sanji..and then heard his voice. :D..If only they used Gin's VA for Sanji instead..
but anyway I only saw it by accident -
I get the wanting to see thing, but not the complaining thing. I'm not saying anyone in this topic does it, but why would you want to sit through about 30 minutes to watch something you don't like? There are the few who are ok with it, and watch it as comparison. Then there are those who think the people doing the dub should die, and continue to watch.
note: Might as well say this now, since someone will bring it up. I'm not complaining about the complainers, I'm just curious.
-
Well, I've bitched about it plenty. Why? I don't know. I'm an idiot.
-
I like the Greek dub
-
I like bitching about it. It gives me a sense of satisfaction. :D Maybe because I like to vent and have people agree with me and find reasons to laugh about it.
-
That's just sad….
-
Who doesn't like a good laugh? I happen to have seen this weekend's episode, and me and my friend had a good laugh. Not so much the voices, but the poison suction cups :D Still doesn't seem right to bitch about it, and continue to watch it. Let's say I don't like a certain restaurant because of serviece/how food taste/etc. I'm not going to bitch to my friends or anyone about it, and then go back to the place again and again. :D
-
In all honesty, I had some fun with some of the posts I made critiqing the dub. But I really don't care about it anymore, and i probably won't watch anymore until Arlong, and then I'll pick episodes I want to watch.
-
I'll like to see how bad the dub is. I like to see reaction out of fans for satification
-
I try not to watch it, but I've watched it about three times… out of curiosity. I complained about it the first time because I hate what they've done to a person's art, and I complained about last Saturday's episode because I couldn't believe how utterly unintelligent they're made the poor show. I tried not to whine or bash though, I just needed to voice my opinion on how brainless the dub is, where people would agree... not like talking to my friends, who would just dismiss me for a random, raving lunatic. :P

I watch it to see how 4Kids will handle certain parts. Plus…it's fun watching bad stuff to see it at its worse.
Heh most of its ratings come from people at this board!
-
I downloaded one of the first eps once and watched about 2 minutes of it before i got rid of it in a flash >.<
My policy for anime, cartoons, movies, shows etc. is: always watch it in the original language!
-

The difference there is that you actually PAY to eat at the restaurant. ;)
The thing that makes the dub kind of fun to watch is the really wierd edits, like Helmeppo's souped-up mallet, Jango's magical Chakram with a mind of its own, and poisonous suction cups.
I think if there was a restaurant that served nutty things for free like hard-boiled egg sundaes, I'd go just to see what kind of wierd crap they come up with next.
-
We like to have something to complain about…..
-
I pretty much like to laugh at how they handle the scenes. If the edits weren't all that bad I know I would probably not watch it or even post about it. Since I sometime like the voice better in japanese and if it's on my computer I can watch it whenever I feel like it.
Plus, reading the comments about the dubs keep me amused until the next chapter of OP comes out. -
No reason really, it makes me laugh-cringe. And I also have no interest in the other shows that are on at that time.
-
I haven't watched the dub in weeks. Now I'm sleeping better at night & I have a much more positive outlook on life. :D

**People like to complain. People like to vent about things they don't like. It's just part of human nature. 4-Kids has taken a wonderful series and ruined it, and this upsets people, so they talk about it here. People watch because.. well, some people wanted a dub of One Piece… but they wanted a GOOD dub, not the monster that's being shown. It's not like we have a choice of dubbed One Piece to look at...
I don't watch the dub. I saw the first episode, deleted it, and moved on. When I heard what they did to Sanji and Usopp's voices (via posted clips) I was infuriated. Why? Because they're awful. They could have done better.. they just.. didn't.
-
Nothing wrong with watchin for laugh/comparison/thing like that, but complaining won't change anything. People don't bitch at things unless they really hate something. Of course, being a show, you have choices. My question is mainly for the people who actually complain about the dub, rather than those who watch it for things like comparison (although all comments are welcome). If you bitch about the show mainly because of the voices, keep in mind it won't be changing much anytime soon. Continuing watching with hope, won't do anything
-
I watch it because it's fun to laugh at. It's amazing how dumb they think little kids are. :P
-
I watch it for comparison, I watch it to be able to tell the people who don't have access to the subbed version what they missed, and to laugh. I know complaining won't change anything. I'm a grown adult (believe it or not!). But I still like to complain. How can I not? It's terrible. But I make light of it, I don't go around moping bitterly. You should have seen the Lord of the Rings forums when the movies first came out. I've never seen so many bitter, disgruntled people complaining about the changes from the book the movies had, even when they were perfectly logical and well-written changes.
-
well i watch the dub for the same reason most everyone else has said to see how they edit it. if it was just the bad voices i would have stoped watching and just watched half an ep every now and then to hear new voices.
-
I watched the german dub at the end of the Don Krieg stuff… hated it. Luckily i couldn't understand half of it.
Can't watch that American du(m)b.
I think people watch it because they hate reading...

Maybe some kids, but I don't think there's anyone on this forum that doesn't watch Kaizoku-Fansubs unless they have computer issues that won't allow them too.
-
I only bitched just to make fun of the dub at times, because I enjoy it, but I don't lose sleep at night over it. I do agree that some people bitch about too much, though.

I didn't really see anything logical about the changes they did to Treebeard and the Ents. That made me pretty mad, since they were my favorite characters.

I watch just to get my fix of One Piece.
-
I haven't seen the original version and it would get a little asinine to read the subtitles in a fansub (I think it's over 200 episodes).

 It's really not hard to read subtitles at all, unless you can't read. I've watched nearly 200 episodes subtitled, and it's much easier than listening to a gawd-awful dub with horrible voices and ridiculous censoring.
-
We're bitter and angry people with no lives except in front of the computer?
Train-wreck syndrome, mostly.
And if I didn't get up to watch it, I'd be sleeping in until 2 in the afternoon. -

That is until I actually watched a fansub and found that reading subtitles and paying attention to the art was a lot easier than I thought it was.
-
I'm not saying that I don't like reading subtitle (I like to watch subtitle films), I'm just saying that I probably wouldn't watch the subs since it would take a loooong time (if that makes sense).
-
Subtitled episodes are just as long as dubbed episodes. They take exactly the same amount of time to watch.
-
The dub sucks.
Bashing it makes me feel good.
Reflect upon this. You are dismissed.

Isn't what your doing right now...........................bitching?

Longer as in, there's more episodes that are subbed than there are dubbed?

Just give up, either it does something for you or it doesn't. :D
-
Its the train wreck thing.
Its a spectacular mess.
Its like rubbernecking on the highway.
What part of that is hard to get though ones head?
And after seeing that car crash aren't you going to say something about it? Like…"gee stupid drunk guy, he killed that family of 5. "
Your going to make negative comments about the car wreck, because its an interesting bad thing. -
i totally agree with you but somwtimes you say something that well hurt other people
-
Your going to make negative comments about the car wreck, because its an interesting bad thing.
But do you keep saying the same thing for months on end? cough Zolo cough
-
Hoo, boy. I was PISSED for so frickin' long after the whole "Zolo" affair with Viz. 4Kids' change didn't seem to bother me as much, since they change everything they can think of. But Viz's changing it after two years still sort of irks me…
Anyway! As said before: Sucky dub; bashing = goodness; reflect. It's kinda fun to point out the stupidities of the dub, and just out-and-out bashing it is pleasant for me. Ah, the simple pleasures in life.
But Viz doesn't bother me as much anymore. Free, free, like a bird. Uha-ha.
-
I don't care about the Zolo thing, really. I care about the characters being given shuch sh***y voices by people who can't act, horrible background music, and really ridiculous edits take all the drama and emotion out of the plot. There's a new episode every week, so something new to complain about every week. :P
