Has anyone seen this show? It has to be the singlemost hardcore show I've seen. The only drawback, is I don't understand Mahjong. But the badassery of Akagi, and the over exagerated expressions and high stakes make this show a win.

i haven't seen akagi but i really like the sequel "kaiji". don't know if it's anime though.

Hello, everyone. This is your friendly neighborhood MT-Bot speaking on behalf of the original (since I am not back yet). It's really me, for those of you who cannot take a joke.

As of 02/22/07, the character Akagi Shigeru has been promoted to the Quarter Finals match in SaiGar 2007. Against all odds, this mysterious dark horse bested even popular characters like Captain Harlock and Hajime Saitou; just what is it about him that is so awesome?

Truth be told, Akagi was a series I had totally ignored and even ridiculed in the past, but upon watching it, I give it full endorsement as simply the manliest and psychogically thrilling shows of all time. It's truely a masterwork of animation cinema, and the show's appeal is not limited to mahjong enthusiasts, those with sophisticated or uncultured tastes, or anime fans. It is a show that transcends all traditional form of entertainment to convey one single message; GAR.

As such, I would recommend everyone watch this show as promptly as possible; I'm taking a short break from my schoolwork and ANN debates to advertise Akagi on every forum I know of. Be sure to tune into the series and vote Akagi Shigeru when his time comes in four days in SaiGar.
